I'll start.
As you might guess from my username, scarf gags are my favourite, silk preferably but silky polyester is also fine.
My preferred gag is stuffing held in place by a scarf cleave. However I am a little bit over the top when it comes to safety as a partner once had an uncomfortable moment, nothing too serious but just a little concern.
So the method I've settled on over the years is to take a long scarf, place a balled up second scarf (or a sock) in the centre, roll the scarf lengthways then tie a knot to hold the second scarf in place. When the balled up scarf is now placed in your partners mouth, because it is encased within the first scarf, there is no risk of any loose ends slipping back towards the throat and once the first scarf is tied at the back of your partners head everything is held in place.
Although this is quite effective it is possible for your partner to work the balled scarf out of their mouth with a little bit of effort, plus they can still make quite a noise, although nothing intelligible. To overcome these two small problems I add another scarf, folded into a two inch band, as a second cleave. This not only prevents the balled gag being forced out but also "fills in the gaps" of the first cleave, reducing the noise level dramatically.
Going back to safety, before I finish, let me mention what I call a friction knot.
Normally, when fastening a gag, a square or reef knot is used, this involves crossing both ends of a scarf, looping one of the ends under the other then pulling tight, then repeating for a second time.
With a friction knot the ends are crossed the same but instead of looping one of the ends once it is looped twice. When this is pulled tight the added friction between the two lengths of scarf form a bond secure enough to keep in place but, importantly, easy to remove by placing your fingers under the sides of the gag and pulling.
It's surprising not only how effective this knot is but also how easy it is to remove.
It also allows for extra tightening as any material used will stretch slightly during use, and the feeling, as a gag is tightened is out of this world. This knot is not recommended for satin type materials though as there isn't enough friction.
Over to you.....................
