Comic Book TUGs (Various) (T)

So, I remember there being a thread on the old board where people could post up pictures of TUGs from comic books, and I'd like that to be a thing here too, so here we go! I'll start with my personal favourite TUG scene from comics; Robin (Tim Drake) and Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) being tied up in Issue #43 and Issue #44 of Robin's comic!

Warning for a bit of gross-ness in that Tim has to dislocate his thumb to get out of his bonds, but it's otherwise a fantastic scene! I especially love the "But I might leave the gag for last" line (though not for the reasons it's actually there).



























I hope everybody else posts some of their favourite scenes too! I'll probably post some more later, but I'd like others to do so first!

Thank you! As for what kind of stuff, I'm a-okay with anything! I'll probably be posting exclusively superhero stuff, but if anybody has stuff from other genres of comic books, I'm not gonna be a jerk and tell them no!

Yeah, Robin's one of the biggest examples of "constantly getting tied up" there is. Even Tim (my favourite Robin), who DC was all about pushing as the Robin who didn't get captured every other issue, still got trussed up fairly often!

Lets start with dear Robin:

Love how poor Robin's thoughts wander from the delusional to the self-aware

And since authors can't always repeat themselves on main caracters, they often lash out on others, like this guy who's going to spend a bad time :

Something completely different, and since you rarely - I'd say never- see it on such sites...
It's from my childhood's Spirou Albums ( late 70s/early 80s ), a series called " Sandy and Hoppy", by Lambil who later did the famed "tuniques bleues", which all french speaking kids have red. Don't know if that's officialy related to that australian Tv show with a kangaroo...
Anyway, this kid ended up bound and gagged a lot and I was same apparent age or younger and it kind of fueled irrealistic hopes in me. I went biking alone in the woods a lot, but they were not criminals-infested
First one is kind of intense, was used on the issue's cover - they had balls then - and second I call "delicious". Now you'll understand better why I draw the things I post here and on DA

Will raid my nearby used books stores for Spirou albums 'cause I think I actually ripped those pages out of one of my cousin's... Gives me something else to collect appart from my "Blek le roc", still haven't found that scene I'm desperatly looking for.

Wonderful stuff, [mention]LK3869[/mention]! The scene with Tim's makeshift ballgag is another favourite of mine!

Another favourite of mine also involves Robin, this time from earlier in his comic run (Issues 23 & 24), where he gets stuck to the ceiling of a building thanks to a mutated Killer Moth. My only complaint is that, while I know it was so that he could talk to Alfred via comms, I wish that he had been gagged as well (like in the cover).





















I particularly love how miserable he looks initially, then the adorable dorkiness when he's able to get his bo staff.

Some on DA specialise in adding gags on every possible caracters. A hobby of its own
and, TUGs scenes for kids to color... that's early impregnation LoL Would make a fun collectible item, tho... All our childhood heroes in lineart, would love to see that

Today in "Pimp my OC": cow-boys era cavalry kid formerly left ungagged by careless original author while wearing a yellow scarf around his neck ( jeez, what were they thinking ?! ) gets corrected by disrespectfull net punk and threatened to be colorized by mature hands

You were right, he was missing something and his pose looked like he was backing away from crayons to come after him

Now: A personal favorite, at least in spirit... The Alex Rider stories by Anthony Horowitz. They made comics out of his "young adults" novels, drawn by two japanese girls: Kanako Damerum and Yuzuru Takasaki. To be honest, I hate boys stories drawn by women but they do a great job at facial expressions and the "anime" style is kinda smoothed down to almost tolerable levels

A girl - Alex's girlfriend, you would have guess - gets a nice treatment in "Eagle strike":

true blue "naive" style, never afraid of clichés And they were not worse than "aware" us when they drew these, they just drew fun stuff, made to put western kids' imagination to work so they'd buy the next issue.
And it worked, since we were thrilled as kids and all tried to reproduce such scenes...
Playing with stereotypes is good and healthy, it makes you project into others situation. But people are so nervous these days, always questioning everything.
So, excellent find ! All we miss now is some Tarzan style characters

With the dog freeing him I wonder if that ever happened for real, a dog spontaneously trying to untie knots... Or a kangaroo or a dolphin...
It's a pillar of kids books and noone ever asks
