Are Extreme Gags Realistic

So we’ve all read a lot of stories on here where gags are over the top, incredibly tight, etc.

Ones that come to mind include two socks going in your mouth, or a knee high soccer sock, or a jockstrap.

Then their heads are mummified completely with tape. Everything but nose showing.

My question. How realistic are these scenarios?

I’ve tried to fit a knee sock in my mouth and there’s limited success. Having my head mummified can make me panic if it’s on too long. Choking on a sock is a real concern. Gag reflexes. In your experience how realistic are these gags?

It depends on a lot of factors. Gag reflex, mouth size, breathing health, being used to such stringent techniques. I watch some asian videos with a LOT of layers. Like 2 scarves in the mouth followed by a pantyhood followed by several more layers of scarves. I've seen JJ Plush and Sahrye have three pairs of panties sealed in their mouths. I'd say it's doable, but only by select people and unsafe long term. I mean granted I'm not sure it would kill you(though it probably could) but the discomfort would probably negate any pleasure.

Have never tried this personally but I think "it depends " would be the answer for reasons already mentioned above. Definitely wouldn't have stuffing under it. Any time I've been tape gagged though, breathing does become more difficult and I become hyper aware of my nose. I honestly don't think I could fall asleep like that, but if I did I'd probably awake in a panic. That's not to say I don't want to find out though

As illest pointed out, it depends on several factors at the end of the day but I did meet/play with quite a few people who could fit a pair of knee length gym socks wrapped in tights stuffed into their mouths and didn't mind having their heads wrapped up for a short period of time (30-40 mins) so YMMV.

As others have pointed out, it all depends on multiple factors.

For myself, a single thick soccer sock could fit, but not comfortably, and definitely not a pair of them. The largest mouth stuffing I can take is a pair of my wife's tights.

In terms of realism, that is skipped over in stories with respect to mouth stuffed gags, is just how willing the owner of the stuffing is to have their socks/tights/whatever else, ruined as their captive chews on said item. In real-life, my wife has never gagged me, nor has allowed me to self-gag, with anything she was not willing to part with there and then, as it could very well come back out too damaged.

They’re generally talking about breathable athletic style tape and medical tape, I’m more talking like duct tape.

I personally would never dare. Too dangerous in my opinion and from what I've learned from BDSM practitioners. The point I initially failed to make is that while what is realistic depends on the person and their level of experience in various BDSM activities, there are nevertheless, less risky alternatives available that can provide a similar experience. An adjacent question that comes up often on BDSM forums and Reddit subs is "can one sleep safely tied-up/bound?" The consensus seems to be "no, but risk aware somewhat safer simple ties can mimic the desired experience." The same would apply to gags.

Specific to myself, I love to be tied up tightly and heavily gagged (mouth stuffed, and tapped several rounds around mouth and back of head) for hours, but I was always closely watched/monitored. For actual sleep, that's dangerous, so the rare times I did overnight stuff, the bondage was light (able to move limbs, and turn side to side) and my "gag" was my CPAP for my sleep apnoea (hence the medical tape reference, as it helps with nasal CPAP masks).

But everyone's mileage varies and is their own, progressing at their own pace as they gain experience, and stopping at their own personal limits beyond which things become unrealistic/too dangerous for them.

I have managed to hold two slouch socks AND a pair of nylon briefs in my mouth with multiple rounds of two inch with stretchy electric tape, layered with three cotton otm scarf gags, and thin nylon socks held over each nostril with a big otn gag covering it all, and a long scarf going from under my jaw and tying above the head very tightly to "crush" my mouth over the stuffing. I was in this gag for two hours, and every second felt light headed so definitely not something to do alone for long. All socks were heavily used for months and the briefs were worn over a day.

Some of the gags described in M/M stories on here and elsewhere are indeed unrealistic, but aside from the over-the-knee soccer/football sock, none of the gags you mention fit in the "extreme" or unrealistic category. I've used and seen these being used many times.

If you're talking about mouth stuffings that a mouth can accommodate enough for lips to meet, two socks work fine so long as they're ankle socks, no-show socks or sheer/nylon (office work) socks. Regular crew socks are too large to be paired up, but shorter and/or thinner socks work fine as a pair. Ankle sock gags work wonders when paired up.

Jockstraps are not a problem either, so long as they're balled up and the support straps are tucked into the pouch.

sometimes gags can be way over the top. Keep it simple. A sock and a few rounds of some duct tape around the head. Or a nice big tight cleave or ball gag. Shut em up but make it comfortable

I'm not into extreme gags as I find them uncomfortable and difficult to keep in for a period of time. I'm sure some people can really stuff their mouths but most can't.

I doubt some stories that go over the top because they sound unrealistic.

Another aspect is you can make a gag more extreme/intense with layers that are almost redundant in a way. You can add more and more layers, but after a certain point the layers add weight more than anything.

I wonder if for some, it's almost an endurance challenge. When tying myself, a simple gag will often do. But when losing a bondage challenge and getting layer after layer added, I "have" to put up with it and can really endure. It's never unsafe, but the weight and crushing feeling is heightened.
