It’s time for the high school escape games, you and Megan have been training hard and are confident of doing well. There are individual rounds and team events with each discipline scoring points towards an outright winner much like a decathlon in the Olympics. The games are to take place in the school hall and the participants must wear gym kit, t-shirt and shorts so the judges can ensure there is no cheating, no hidden blades to aid escape.
There are another six girls taking part as well as you and Megan. They line up for the first event the individual duct tape escape. Five minutes to escape, with points to first second and third if anyone does get totally free. The Marshall goes down the line taping each girl’s wrists in exactly the same way. Then the girls sit on the mats and their ankles are taped. The judge calls three, two, one go and they are start struggling and pulling at the tape. An easy win for you who gets the tape off her wrists in fifteen seconds and is free in twenty. Megan is a close second with the third placed girl not far behind. All the competitors are free in under five minutes so on to the next event, the rope hogtie.
Again the girls line up lying on their stomachs on the floor. Taking equal lengths of rope the Marshall goes down the line tying wrists, ankles and completing the hogtie. The judge gives the go and the girls have fifteen minutes to get free. There are differing techniques with some trying to wriggle their wrists free, some trying to reach for the knots while others try to undo the hogtie first. Most stay on their stomachs, a couple roll onto their sides. You roll onto your back. Then digging your heels into the mat shuffles your bottom towards your ankles. This gives a bit of slack in the rope. You then concentrate on the rope around your wrists, not easy when your hands are under your bum. Five minutes gone, no real sign of anyone getting free yet, lots of grunting and rolling around from most of the girls. You have your plan and stick to it, gradually you get enough slack to work a loop off your wrist giving more slack in the remaining loops. More twisting and pulling and first one wrist is free, then the other. Looking across you can see one of the other girls has just about got her wrists free. Quickly you sit up and untie the rope around your ankles. You stand to take the applause winning this round too in seven minutes forty six seconds. Megan comes fourth. The remaining four girls have to be released having run out of time.
The next event is the chair tie, for some reason this is Megan’ speciality. Chairs are brought in and the girls are tied to them, wrists behind, ankles tied with the rope brought up under the chair and tied off at the wrists pulling their ankles back. A long length of rope is tied around their waists and across their laps securing them to the chairs. Twenty minutes to get free. Once again differing techniques are evident with some picking at the ropes feeling for knots while others try pulling and rocking to slacken the rope. One or two girls tip their chairs over, the Marshall checks they are unhurt as the competition continues. You manage to get a hand free but can see Megan has both hands free and one of the other girls, Jenna is already untying the rope around her waist. A few minutes later it is a first for Jenna, with Megan second and you third.
Time for the first mobile race, the 20 yard hop. Each girl is taped wrists behind ankles together. More tape is wrapped around their arms and body and their thighs. On the word go the girls must hop twenty yards to the finish. All set off as fast as they can, one girl takes and early lead but in her enthusiasm takes a tumble and is out of the race, no way she can regain her feet and continue. Megan crosses the line just ahead of you with Jenna third. The girls are not untied as the next event is the hop relay. Working in teams of two, the first girl hops the twenty yards to tag her partner who must then hop back to the start finish line. This time it’s an easy win for you and Megan as a couple of girls collide on the handover and all fall over giggling.
It’s back to rope for the hogtie wriggle. The girls are hogtied as before but must now wriggle ten yards to the finish line. Again there is a variety of technique, some shuffling on their front, some trying to scoot on their backs and some trying to roll. With a huge effort you just clear the line ahead of another girl while Jenna comes third and Megan fourth. The girls remain tied for the hogtie relay. They are however given ten minutes to catch their breath and all are really starting to feel tired after all their efforts. Once again you and Megan take first place. Jenna and her partner coming third.
The final event of the day is the pairs release. The girls are untied from their hogties but their wrists and ankles remain tied. The pair is then sat back to back and rope tied around their waist and upper arms securing them together. To make it a bit more difficult they are gagged with duct tape to hinder any communication between them. Both girls must be completely untied within fifteen minutes to win. At the go you and Megan topple onto your side as practiced, Immediately Megan starts working on the knot on the rope around your wrist. It’s hard work as it has tightened considerably with all the effort of the hogtie crawl. It takes her five minutes but eventually the knot slackens and comes loose. Working together she gets the rope off your wrists, then you can start working on the knot on Megan’s wrist’s. Again it is very tight and takes a lot of effort to get loose, but it does come free now you both have your hands free and are able to push yourselves upright. Nine minutes gone but looking around no one else seems to be getting free. You find the knot on the rope binding you together and quickly untie it, freeing you from each other. Now it’s just matter of untying your ankles and removing your gags to take the win.
The judge reads the final results you have come first with Megan second and Jenna third. After presenting the medals the judge says we have one more challenge today come on down Abbey’s mum, It’s time for the mother v daughter post tie escape. Two posts are brought into gym and you are both tied to one. Hands behind, ankles together and tied to the base of the post. You are tied around the waist and upper chest and also above and below the knees. “It’s only fair it’s a tough one as we have today’s champion against a former champion” says the judge “You have fifteen minutes go!” he shouts. And you both begin your escape attempt, neither wanting to be beaten by the other. As the judge say it is a tough one, both of you are well tied to the post. You start to get some slack at your wrist after five minutes of struggling and squirming, you look across at your mum, it looks as though she is also getting her wrists free. With a huge effort you get your wrists free, but so has your mum, she is already working the ropes holding her upper body. You feel for the knots and start to unpick them. The rope falls to the floor, just your legs to free. But your mum is also untying the rope around her knees. You both crouch down to untie your ankles simultaneously. The rope is undone and you step away from the posts together it is a draw. The crowd cheers you both wildly. “Well” says the judge “How about that? Do we want a rematch?” “Perhaps another day” you smile.
