Novels/Books that have TUGs or Bondage elements
The Wheel of Time series is full of it. From memory, it's mostly the female characters getting tied up in every which way you can think of, but a few of the boys get the treatment as well. Highly recommend, also for the fact it's a brilliant fantasy series. Put aside some time though, it's 14 books long (plus a prequel) and each book is the size of a small dog.
Just finished reading Suzie Q on archive.org. A quick read and a great fun book, mostly owing to her sarcasm and the very special Northern Irish humour. Thank you for the hint!Kyle wrote: 2 years agoI checked out The Kidnapping of Suzie Q from the local library (twice--I frequently checked books out as a kid more than once, so it probably didn't look too weird). Probably the best descriptions of the restraints in any book I read as a kid. The cover on the one I read had a girl (Suzie, I suppose) with a cloth tied over her mouth, rope around her arms, and her hands behind her back surrounded by two masked people. Suzie had a sarcastic and feisty attitude I liked, too.rafeylovesbonds wrote: 2 years ago Seems to be a very strong parallel between this book and "The Kidnapping of Suzie Q" by Catherine Sefton. There are a couple of cover illustrations, both effective illustrations, and the bondage descriptions are very evocative. F/f

While we’re at it, how about novels with crossdressing ?

Stephen King for sure,I vaguely remember descriptive hogties in both SALEMS LOT and I believe the second book in the dark tower series(something to do with 3 doors)....there was also one in DON QUIOXTE involving being tied to a tree and there was even a drawing that accompanied it

Just started this book "panther gap" by James a. Mclaughlin, around 30 pages into and there's been a couple that gets captured after having sex, both naked in a tent, wrists zip tied behind their backs and duct tape sealing their lips

Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold has a few scenes with bondage elements.
The GOR novels have been mentioned above. I have a love-hate relationship with them. Some aspects (including nearly all of the bondage elements) I find really hot. Other aspects hit my ick and squick buttons. I wrote my first novel partly as a homage and partly as an answerback to the series.
And speaking of my novels...
I have published ebooks, all of which are well-supplied with bondage elements. [/toot my own horn]

Here's another one: Taken by Norah McClintock.
The premise is a girl is kidnapped and wakes up tied up in a cabin, in the middle of nowhere. The book is a story of survival as she has to call upon lessons she learned from her grandfather to survive and get to safety, starting with figuring out how to get out of her ropes.

A good book as well to be fair.

I loved reading Gerald’s Game. She spends most of the book handcuffed to the bed in just her knickers. Lovely descriptions of her feelings and thought as she is tied there.
Thank you for bumping this thread! While up there I wrote that I enjoyed "Suzie Q", I should specify that I really did, but actually I enjoyed everything except the bondage. She is tied up against her will, in a nasty and uncomfortable way, and that bothered me a bit.
Are there any books which describe people enjoying a TUG? But not in a sexual BDSM / 50 shades context?

I've read this novel, enjoying it very much. It's very funny from the beginning until the end.cellofello wrote: 2 years ago August Derleth, The Moon Tenders. A YA novel in which two boys stumble upon counterfeiters hiding in a cave. There are times when the kidnappers need to leave the cave, and leave the boys tied up.
It is the first in a series featuring the two protagonists, but I have not read the others and do not know if there are bondage scenes in them.
Uhm, it's not exactly a YA novel, I'd say early teen. The novel is set in 1922 around the county where Derleth was born in 1908 and lived during his boyhood. The two main characters are clearly about 13/14, and for sure there are some self biographical elements in the plot (I hope for him not the kidnapping by the counterfeiters!)

There are some differences in opinions on the exact age range, but the most common definition of a YA novel I've seen is one that is intended for readers in the 12-18 age group. IOW, the definition refers to the target market for the book, not the age of the protagonist(s), although the age of the protagonists certainly plays a major role in appealing to the target audience.Bastian wrote: 1 year agoI've read this novel, enjoying it very much. Let's Go Play at the Adams' by Mendal W. Johnson
A late-teens female babysitter is hired to watch some kids for a week while the parents are away. Said kids engage in the trope of tying up the babysitter so they can do whatever they want. Except it's portrayed relatively realistically, and isn't a comedy.
Certainly worth reading once, as it's very well written. And it's now available as an ebook on Amazon (I originally had to read it as a crappy scanned PDF).

If you sign up to the Internet Archive https://archive.org you can search for loads of these books. The Moon Tenders and lots of Norah McClintock (couldn't find Taken though) are on there and you can borrow the books for free for a hour at a time, plenty of time to search for the roping

Pretty much all of James Gordon White's collection is on there, half a dozen westerns that feature a male and female duo constantly getting tied up and the legendary Barbarian Queen
Here's a snippet from "Long Ride to Vengeance" by Jame Gordon White, clearly a massive bondage fan who loves a hogtie!
‘That’s fer damned sure/ Virgil said^ knotting the rope about Diana’s booted ankles. He scooped up a handful of snow then moved behind the tree and rubbed it on the knots holding Diana’s crossed^ black gloved wrists together, while Mirabeau did the same with Matt.
Matt and Diana stood watching the men unsaddle, hobble, and feed the horses, then move around the clearing hacking off dead lower branches from the surrounding pines with hatchets taken from the massacred Arapahos. The men worked furiously, building up a sweat beneath their clothing, in spite of the freezing wind. The altitude and exertion soon sapped their strength, but Cantrell insisted they keep working. Leaving the captives untended, the three disappeared into the forest.
As the faint sounds of their hacking reached him. Matt pitted himself against the constricting ropes. The knots had indeed frozen^ making any struggles useless^ but his movement did stir his slow-flowing blood. He flexed his gloved Angers, wriggled his toes inside his boots, and kept shifting his weight from one foot to the other. He glanced over at Diana who stood motionless, her head drooped. She was exhausted from the long ride, but this wasn’t the time to sleep. He shouted her name above the wind. She slowly raised her head and looked around. He told her to struggle, but she weakly shook her head.
A roaring fire was built and then Matt and Diana were freed from their trees, heated knives severing their frozen knots. Their wrists were re-tied in front of them and, barely able to move, they were half-dragged, halfcarried to the fire. Seated across the blazing fire, its dancing fiames casting weird yellow patterns on their strained faces, the three men and their two captives hugged the warmth.
Bone-weary, they bedded down around the fire. Matt and Diana’s hands were fastened behind them, then their ankles were secured and the ropes connected to their wrists, holding them in fairly taut hog-ties. Cantrell had added the extra precaution since Matt’s display of dexterity the night when he’d almost freed himself and gone after Diana and Ennis."

Took a punt on this on kindle and it doesn't disappoint either. 29 matches for rope, 15 for gag, 19 for ankles, 20 of tied. Definitely worth the couple of £'s or $'s for the download.drgoremd wrote: 2 years ago If anyone is looking for an individual book about a kidnapping that includes a long and detailed first person from the captive girl, I always recommend this hidden gem.
https://tinyurl.com/bkvrky28
It's about a snooping little girl who gets caught up in a smuggling ring and is kidnapped. She is tied and gagged for about 2/3 of the book and gives a detailed description of her bondage throughout.
Another snippet...
[The man with the suit held the door open to the back area.  I was carried to a second room – a storage area – and the man with the suit followed the man carrying me. He held a piece of white linen. The hand that was across my mouth released its firm hold only to be replaced in an instance with the white linen. The man in the suit tied it back behind my head, gagging me with it in my mouth. He then tied ropes around my ankles, and bound me with ropes around my middle, replacing the grip of whoever was holding me with his arms. As the ropes were secured, I was thrust into a chair and the two men tied me once again, this time to the chair.
....
The two men came back into the apartment. Frankos went to a closet in the bedroom. He pulled out a pillow case. He picked up the cloth he’d gagged me with earlier, and gagged me again. I feared for my life more than ever. He untied the bindings to the chair and paused as he noticed he left my ankles unbound. Jim noticed it too. “Lucky she didn’t escape.†Frankos grunted.     “I just needed a few more minutes, and I would have escaped,†I thought. I felt foolish I hadn’t been able to get away when I had the chance. Jim helped Frankos secure the ropes. As they worked on my ankles, I played frantically with the ropes around my wrists.

Another Internet archive find.

Sadie Rose and the Phantom Warrior by Hilda Stahl
another Kids fiction set in frontier times about four teenagers, two male &two female (including the protagonist) kidnapped by a Native American and held captive in a wagon for a few days until they escape and tie him up. There are other books in the series but none seem to include any tie ups.
They are tied up and untied multiple times but mostly not gagged. Although there are a couple of escape attempts, mostly the captives obediently allow themselves to be tied.
Page 79
Back at the ranch he gave her a dipper of water from the well and let her drink, and then he drank. He hung the dipper back in place, then caught her arm and walked her to the back of the wagon. She peered inside and gasped. The others were tied and gagged and sitting among Cotton Twyll’s goods. Sadie saw the anguish in Lost Sand Cherry's eyes and the anger in Riley’s. Gerda looked frightened and Levi hopeless.
The Indian quickly bound Sadie’s wrists behind her back, easily hoisted her into the wagon, then bound her ankles. He didn’t gag her, but instead ungagged the others
page 94
Before anyone could move, Good One opened the flap and lifted out the endgate. He pulled each one out roughly, leaving them in a heap on the ground. “White boys, get up and help me fix the wheel,†he said gruffly.
Sadie rolled out of the tangled blanket and tried to stand. But she couldn't with her ankles and wrists still bound. Helplessly she sat in the tall grass and watched as Good One untied Riley and Levi.
“Good One,†said Lost Sand Cherry from where she lay on the ground, “untie me and I will get water for all of us.â€
Good One hesitated, then untied Lost Sand Cherry. He helped her to her feet and brushed sand off her skirts.
Page 101
Sadie leaned weakly against the wagon and waited while Good One forced the others into the back and retied their hands and feet.

Anything with guys being the one in peril? Anything with boots? Riding boots or cowboy boots being thoroughly tied?
It's pretty light compared to some of the others on here but there's a scene in the Chinese Danmei Mo Dao Zu Shi where one of the main characters gets the other drunk, and he ends up tying his wrists with his ribbon before parading him around publicly for a bit before going to their rented rooms and messing around for a bit. They also have at the end of the book where they roleplay a bit and his wrists are bound again, but they're interrupted before anything further can happen. They also have it a third time during one of the infamous Incense Burner extras where, in a dream both are watching, one of the main characters gets fed up with the other, ties him up, and has sex him in the library.
Honestly it was the first time I've read something like that in a novel that was written as something more sexual than for kidnapping. I used to read a lot of Nancy Drew as a kid and was obsessed with scenes of her being bound and gagged, but during my teenage years I kinda stopped reading. Just recently got back into it and when a friend was watching the Mo Dao Zu Shi anime I happened to be in the room when this particular scene played out (albeit without the kissing in the room because censorship sucks). That's when I knew I really needed to read this book lol.

The Accidental Detectives series by Sigmund Brouwer. It's a bunch of small books, geared towards kids. I read them in late elementary school. There's a tie up scene in almost every one. Many of which made the cover artwork.

Great shout @Redman . I went to have a dig about his work on Internet Archive and he's written loads of books, https://archive.org/search?query=Sigmund+Brouwer he tends to have a few weird Christian themes in them as well which I find equally amusing and creepy... but maybe that's my secular european cynicism showingRedman wrote: 2 months ago The Accidental Detectives series by Sigmund Brouwer. “Locked in that room, tied to a chair, and not knowing whether I would live or die, broke a dam inside me. Then, through the bedroom wall, hearing Ralphy and Joel pray with a simple faith started me back to God. And facing death on the cliff this morning suddenly made me glad that I had had enough time to get back to God in my heart.â€
I wonder if he's the sort of guy that organises summer camps for gullible teens, then gets the ropes out in order to show them the way to Jesus!

As well as the Accidental Detectives series which seems to have a 80% hit rate for tie ups he's also written some western stuff, some sci-fi and a book about a members of a boys soccer team who end up getting tied up - Maverick mania
Here are some of the covers you mentioned..

In hindsight, @RopedCowboy I should have warned everyone that they are, in fact a Christian series. I actually got all of them from christian bookstores. I was raised in a VERY religious household. But way to dig it up! I didn't even know about his other books!
But here's a good laugh....
Picture if you will, a 9 year old ginger kid, sitting in a corner of Hackman's Bible Bookstore, reading a small paperback like it's a magazine.
And that's why I'm going to hell. XD.
