A lot of the sub "types" listed in previous messages seem to be types of SUBMISSION SCENARIOS. Here are a few more scenario types.
-- PERSON THAT GOT STUCK. For example, sub was under kitchen sink fixing the plumbing or trying to squeeze through the crawl space but underwear got caught on something out of reach.
-- SELF-BONDAGE GONE WRONG. Sub had a limited period of time alone and did self-bondage with a planned release, but made some mistake such as planning an ice-release but a string got caught leaving handcuff keys out of reach. So the sub has to wait, knowing they will face humiliation when someone arrives that does not know about the sub's tug interests, or potentially face danger if nobody arrives or if a stranger arrives with bad intentions.
-- UNEXPECTED DELAY IN RELEASE. Dom ties sub for a short fun tie-up game, but then gets called away urgently in some scenario where the Dom will not be able to return to untie the sub for an uncertain and potentially long time
TYPES OF SUBS
If we were trying to define "types of subs" as a classification or taxonomy of subs, some that come to mind are:
-- ZEN SUB. People who find being tied-up to be relaxing and pleasantly secure (in a non-sexual way) and they are motivated to relieve stress and anxiety, analogous to the relaxing and calming effect of a hug, swaddling wraps on a baby or a weighted blanket. This is related to the concept of "sub space."
-- COMPETITIVE SUB. People who like the challenge of trying to escape and defeat the Dom's tie, and thereby win the game. The sub's primary motive is the challenge and the possibility of feeling the joy of victory. There may or may not be any sexual energy involved - directly or implied -- but if there is, it is just a secondary motive - frosting on the cake.
-- DANGER-SEEKING SUB. People who like the thrill and adrenaline rush from being scared. They like (or at lease fantasize about) being tied up by a "bad guy" (or girl or man or women or beast) where they risk directly being harmed by the bad guy or their being tied up keeps them powerless in a situation that is dangerous, such as the classic "damsel in distress" tied to the train tracks.
-- HUMILIATION-SEEKING SUB. People who enjoy or think they deserve to be humiliated or embarrassed or subject to ridicule, so they are drawn to being tied up either because the powerlessness itself is humiliating or because the Dom will be able to do humiliating things to them unhindered, such as insulting or teasing them, making them do embarrassing things, exposing them to dirty or smelly or otherwise degrading things (feet, socks, bodily fluids, etc.), or exposing them to others.
-- PAIN-SEEKING SUB. AKA masochist. People who enjoy or think they deserve to feel pain, so they are drawn to being tied up either because the tie is itself painful (such as a being tied in a stress position or having a twine pulling and stretching body parts) or to prevent them from being able to evade the source of pain, such as liking to be tied tightly enough to prevent squirming to evade being spanked or whipped.
-- OBJECTIFICATION SUB. People who enjoy or think they deserve to have their humanity, their individuality and their sexuality ignored and instead to be treated as objects or decorations, such as serving as a footstool, a chair, a table, a drink holder, or a statue. Being tied-up fits into the sub's motivation by reinforcing the idea that, as a mere object, they do not have agency to decide whether or how they are to be used.
-- GUILT-FREE SEX SUB. People who feel that asking for or expressing a desire for their own sexual stimulation is wrong or undeserved, but they like being tied-up and serving as a sexual plaything or an object of the sexual desire of the Dom because it allows them to both give and receive sexual pleasure without feeling any associated responsibility or guilt. The sub may not admit it to themselves, but deep down they are motivated by their own sexual pleasure.
-- ROLE-PLAY SEX SUB. People who enjoy playfully spicing up their sex life with role playing games that involve some power exchange in the scenario - such as police/criminal, prison guard/prisoner, hostage-taker/hostage, doctor/patient, and -- the old game that is now less-than-PC - cowboys/indians. They don't feel guilty about sex, so they don't need the role to avoid feeling guilty. They are motivated by the extra level of pleasure that comes from exploring sex from different role perspectives and different scenarios, analogous to trying different sexual positions.
-- GOOD BOY/GIRL SUB. AKA Service Sub. People who get pleasure from obedience to the orders of the Dom, particularly providing services that please the Dom. The service might be non-sexual or sexual, but even if the service meets the sexual needs of the Dom, the objective of the sub is more about earning praise ("you are such a good boy/girl") than it is about the sub's own sexual pleasure. Being tied up fits into the service sub's motivation be reinforcing the idea that the sub has no choice but to be obedient and if there is any sexual component, it is directed by the Dom purely for the benefit of the Dom and not for the pleasure of the sub. The more self-less, the more virtuous is the service sub.
