Part 6
Sophia glanced over as Antonia killed the engine of the van they’d stolen. He’d been her partner for six months. Six months too long if anyone asked.
Not only was he incompetent but he was a lousy lay.
Her fingers curled around the knife hidden in her purse as he asked, “You want me to kill the kid while you get the money?â€
“That won’t be necessary,†she replied before glancing over her shoulder to look at her hostage blindfolded, bound, and gagged on the floor of the van.
Michael flinched as a hand landed on his hair and tightened. Layers of tape covered his mouth and eyes while thick rope captured his wrists and ankles. His broken arm practically screamed in protest as the grip forced him to hold his head up a little.
“Now, listen closely. Tell your fake daddy that if our paths cross again and he ever tries to double-cross me, I know exactly where to find you,†she warned before pressing a quick kiss to Michael’s taped lips.
With a muffled groan Michaels head bounced back down against the floor. Sophia smiled at Antonia before adding, “Darling, this is where you and I part ways.â€
.
Daniel was practically glaring at her the moment his eyes landed on her standing in front of one of the most prized paintings in the gallery. The skintight red dress highlighted every single curve as she smiled at him. The lights seemed to reflect off her diamond studded ears and neck.
She reached up the moment he’d stood before her to straighten his tie and unwrinkle a spot on his suit. He caught her hand and hissed, “Where’s my kid?â€
Sophia pouted before asking, “Don’t you want to catch up?â€
“Where’s Mike?â€
“Ugh. He’s not even bleeding that badly anymore.â€
His grip around her wrist tightened as he hissed, “I am not playing with you, bitch. My son. Now.â€
Her eyebrows raised as her lips turned up into a grin. She retracted her hand before adding, “Now, Daniel. Is that anyway to speak to the woman holding your brat hostage? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re letting your emotions get in the way. Besides, he’s not even yours. Just a little thief you picked up along the way.â€
Daniel wasn’t playing her games anymore. “I know where you keep your stash. You got three seconds to let him go.â€
Her smile faltered. It vanished completely the moment he rattled off an address.
“Fine but I want the money we agreed to wired-â€
Daniel cut her off as he growled, “It’s already been wired. Mike. Now.â€
“Fine. Lot 36B. Spot 921.â€
She watched him walk away with a pout on her lips. Not even a kiss to part with. Well, there was always next time.
.
Daniel frowned the moment he found Michael trussed up like a prized turkey wearing nothing but a pair of underwear. He reached for the tape on the kid’s eyes and froze the moment the moment Mike flinched away from him.
“It’s me, kid. Don’t move.â€
Michael stilled instantly.
Daniel began removing the tape from the kid’s eyes carefully as he mumbled, “I could kick your ass for not getting out when I told you to. You know better than to-†before stopping as he noticed the tears.
“It’s alright Mikey. You’re okay.â€
The tape from his mouth was next to go. A soaked wad of cloth followed. Michael licked his cracked lips before croaking out, “Danny.â€
“It’s okay. You hurt?â€
A slight nod followed the question. Daniel sighed as he muttered, “Don’t worry. I’m going to get you to the hospital.â€
Daniel was practically fuming at the bruises, broken arm, bullet wound, and glass shard in his kid’s side. He draped his jacket around the eighteen year old before gathering him into his arms.
Michael muttered, “Did you give her the money?â€
“I got you back, didn’t I?†Daniel huffed in annoyance.
“Thank you,†Michael muttered against the older man’s collarbone as Daniel carried him over to where his car was parked.
“Yeah, well I outa make you pay me back.â€
A small smile crossed his face as Daniel settled him in the back seat of his car. Michael pulled out a small pouch from the bandages wrapped around his side. Taking it from him, Daniel opened it to find the diamonds they’d gone in to steal in the first place.
“Consider it a downpayment, Danny.â€
“How in the hell did you manage that?â€
“I’m a thief, remember?â€
THE END!
Let me know if you want to see any of them again
