Cops & Robbers
During the last game, the Adams twins Chester and Jay went over to our place. We soon had a tie up game where the twins challenged Frank and me to a tie up game. At least that's how it began. It ended with Frank, Donald and me being bound and gagged by David and Andrew assisted by the twins in revenge for their first defeat.
It was Sunday afternoon. We had just played a tie up game yesterday where Chester and Jay were introduced to our games. Well, this afternoon was different. Mom and Dad are out visiting our neighbor, Betty is at her friend's house, and John, Barney and Lawrence are at Donald's house to play with Ben, Maggie and Lucy, Donald's younger siblings. Donald himself went to our house, so did Frank, David and the Adams twins. So we had the entire house to ourselves.
We soon decided to play Cops & Robbers. We played cops and robbers before, but in those games were just, "bang! bang! You're dead!", which means if you're hit, you're dead and out of the game. The team who survives wins. There was no taking of prisoners.
Now, with the tie up games we played, we decided to make the game more interesting. The basic plot is a group of robbers have stolen and hidden some cash (play money). The cops would try to capture all the robbers or capture at least one robber and retrieve the cash to win. The robbers only need to capture all the cops to win. The base of the cops would be the attic, while the base of the robbers would be the basement. You could not capture an enemy at their own base. However, you cold sneak in and free any captured teammates. However, even if you could not capture your enemy at their base, they could capture you at their own base.
If you get hit by water gun, you automatically become prisoner by the one who shot you. Or you could just be overpowered to be caught. Once you're captured, they can torture you. They could do anything to you, as long as no physical harm comes. And this time, there are no time limits for tickling and certainly no required breaks. The enemy could tickle you all he likes if you are his captive. All captives must be released once the game ended.
We usually use a coin toss to determine who's who in the game. If its heads, you're a cop. If it's tails, you're a robber. Since we are seven, the ratio must be 4:3.
We tossed the coin to see who's who.
David - heads - cop
Chester - tails - robber
Tom - heads - cop
Jay - heads - cop
Andrew - tails - robber
Frank - heads - cop
And Donald automatically became the robber to make sure the ratio remains 4:3. So the cops would be me, David, Jay and Frank. The robber are Andrew, Chester and Donald. Each side was given 30 minutes to prepare. Andrew took a sack with money and showed it to us, to make sure that there indeed was stolen money. The cops and robbers then separated to begin their preparation. It was agreed that the game would begin at 2:30.
I led the cops to my room, where I gave them supplies. However, I have only three guns, which means that one would have to go without a gun.
"Wait a minute, I have a water gun at our house. What if I go to our house and get it."
"What if you take so long? The game might start before you return." Frank said.
"Well, better late than unarmed. Besides, I will also get more rope and other things we need", David said.
"Well, just be quick about it!", I replied. David quickly darted out of my room towards the door. I could see him from my window running towards his house. Now, I continued the preparation. I gave to both Frank and Jay a coil of rope, five three foot piece rope, two rolls of duct tape, scissors, of course, squirt (water) guns. I put my stuff in my backpack. We then moved to our base (the attic) and prepared the base. We cleared an old wooden chair, and a dusty sofa. We stuffed our pockets with rope and handkerchiefs.
Well, we waited for David but he did not arrive. Finally, it was 2:30.
"Let's go!" I told my companions.
"Without David?" Frank asked.
"Well, I think it is better to start sooner than later. Besides, it'll be 3 against three, would it not?" I replied.
"What do you think?" I asked Jay.
"Let's go!" Jay responded.
With that, we stepped out of the attic. It is now 2:32. We silently went down the stairs toward the corridor where the door of our rooms are located. We crept silently. Suddenly the door to Andrew's door opened. Chester then stepped out of the room. We hid behind the door, and when he came out, his back was turn on us. We all then shot his back with our water, soaking his shirt at the back.
"You're our prisoner!" I told him.
"What the heck!" was all he could say. He was clearly surprised at the speed of his capture. He dropped his gun and raised his hand in surrender.
I then took a handkerchief from my pocket and stuffed it in his mouth to prevent him from warning any other of the "robbers". I then cleaved gagged him with a handkerchief, knotting it at the back of his head, to hold the cloth in his mouth. At the same, time, Frank was tying his hands behind his back with one of the three foot piece rope.
"March this robber to jail, sergeant", I told Frank.
"Yes Lieutenant", was all Frank could say, and marched our new prisoner to the attic.
Jay and I went to Andrew's room to search. Maybe they hid the play money there, and if they did, and we found it, we would have won the game.
We entered Andrew's room and began to search Andrew's room. About six minutes later, while still searching, we heard footsteps and voices. I recognize the voices as that of Andrew and Donald. We hid in the closet, readied our guns, and waited. Soon both of them entered.
"Where is Chester?!" I heard Andrew exclaim when he saw that there was no Chester in his room.
"Maybe he was captured." Donald suggested.
"No. David hasn't returned yet. They wouldn't start without himâ€. Andrew replied. I smiled at my brother's miscalculation.
With that we jumped out of the closet and started firing at the two. They were completely surprised that they for a while could not react. But the line of fire was such that instead of hitting both Donald and Andrew, we hit Donald twice and missed Andrew. Donald was out but Andrew was able to recover from the initial surprise to draw his gun and fire. But they missed us. We continued to fire. Again, we missed him.
Andrew then ran to the door, out the room, and closed the door. Jay wanted to go after him, but I told him not to.
"Andrew is just outside the door, waiting to blast the first one who pokes his head out of that door." I said.
Jay conceded, and we decided to think what to do.
"What if we tied Donald up, and use him as a human shield?" Jay suggested.
"Jay, you're a genius!" I told him after hearing his brilliant idea.
I then told Donald to cross his wrists behind him. Donald obeyed, knowing full well he futility of resisting. Soon, I tied him up with a three-foot piece of rope, placing the knots beyond the reach of his fingers. Jay meanwhile stuffed Donald's mouth with handkerchiefs, and using duct tape we found on Andrew's room, sealed his mouth.
I then took Donald's collar and walked him to the closed door. At my signal, Jay opened the door, and I pushed Donald out, but still holding him in the collar. His face was soon squirted with water, just as I expect, and I fired back at Andrew. Unfortunately, my shot just missed Andrew by an inch. He fired back, moving away as he does so, but the water just hit Donald, instead of me. When I returned fire, we was already out of range of my water gun, and is running down the stairs. Jay went after him, but Jay later returned empty handed.
"He's run into the basement", Jay said.
I can't believe it. We captured 2 (out of three) of the robbers, and the only thing remaining for us to do is either find the stolen cash or capture Andrew to win. Or so we thought.
We marched Donald to the attic where we found Chester bound to the pole in the middle of the attic, held to the pole by duct tape at the shoulders, waist, thighs, shins and ankles. His wrists were also duct taped behind the pole. His mouth is covered with duct tape.
"Nice work Frank!" Jay commented upon seeing his brother.
"He's not going anywhere now not in the way I taped him", Frank responded.
"Where are we going to tie Donald?" Frank asked me.
"There." I responded, pointing to the wooden chair.
We untied Donald's wrists, and sat him in the chair. I pulled his arms behind the back of the chair, and retied his crossed wrists. I then took a long piece of rope and began wrapping it around Donald's upper body, starting with the shoulders and chest downward to the waist. That pinned his body to the back of the chair. I then tied his ankles together.
"Now what do we do next?" Jay asked after we secured Donald to the chair.
"Well we could either find where the money is or catch Andrew." I replied.
"I think we should get Andrew. I think we could easily win three to one." Jay said.
"No. I think it's better to find where the money is." Frank countered.
Both looked at me. It was evident that they want me to settle the argument. "Well I think we should find the money." I said.
"But how do we find it?" Jay asked.
"Let's ask those robbers." I responded.
With that, I went over to Donald and removed his gag. "Where is the loot?" I ask him.
"I don't know." Donald replied.
"Perhaps a little tickle torture would refresh your memory!" I said. We began to tickle him. He began to laugh real hard. Jay had to clamp his hand over his mouth to prevent his laughs from become too loud. We needed to steady the chair he was tied to in order for it not to fall. He was just laughing and jerking and struggling that he might tip the chair.
"Now will you tell us the money is hid", I asked.
"But guys, I told you, I don't know where the ha, ha, ha"
"Wrong answer!" I said even before he finished his answer.
I then tickled him for ten minutes nonstop. When we were finished, he was begging us to stop the tickling.
"Where is the money?" I asked.
"I don't know ha, ha, ha!"
I then tickled his sides. He laughed, and laughed and laughed.
"Please, stop, I'll tell you anything, just stop!" He finally said.
"All right, where is the money?"
"In one of the cupboards in the kitchen."
"And did you capture David?" Frank asked.
"No."
I regagged Donald and warned, "If you're lying, you're dead."
I sent Frank to the kitchen to retrieve the money. However, after 20 minutes, he still did not come back. Meanwhile, Jay and I had been tickling Chester all we want. Chester just mmmpppphh and struggled. We did not remove his gag, for we already know what we wanted to know. We just tickled him just for the fun of it.
"It's taking him an awfully lot of time to get that money!" Jay suddenly said.
"I think I better look for him. Guard them." I told Jay.
I took my squirt gun and stuffed some rope in my pocket. I slowly and quietly went down and headed for the kitchen. As I was walking in the living room downstairs, a sudden cold sensation griped my back. Suddenly, I realized that cold sensation was actually water. I had been hit.
"You're dead, copper!" I heard Andrew's voice from behind. I don't know where he hid, but wherever that place was, it sure hid him well.
I'm dead. I'm captured. According to our rules, I had to surrender to Andrew. I threw away my gun and raised my hands in surrender, my dreams of victory melting away.
Andrew then pulled my arms behind my back and tied my crossed wrists with rope. He then stuffed my mouth with a sock and sealed it with duct tape. He then tied a rope in my waist and tied it to my wrists. He then tied my upper body with a long piece of rope. He then tied my waist. He then took a rope and tied one end of it to the rope encircling my waist and he holding the other end. It kinda served as a leash.
"Come on, copper", he said to me as he led me to the basement door. He opened the door and we slowly descended down the stairs. Then I saw the other cops. David is secured to a pole with rope, mouth duct taped. David's hands were not tied around the pole, but still tied behind his back. So that's what happened to David. Andrew must have gotten David when he returned. It looks like his hands were immediately tied behind his back, and mouth was gagged, and led back to the basement. Andrew then secured him to the pole by wrapping rope around him and the pole, thus securing him. Frank was in a foldout bed hogtied. He probably was captured when I sent him down to get the money. That was probably my first mistake. I should not have sent him alone. But I was foolish enough to go down and come looking for him alone.
"Cheer up boys, you've got new company!" Andrew shouted as we reached the basement floor.
He then untied me, but did not remove my gag me, sat me on a wooden chair, pulled my hands behind the back of the chair, and retied my wrists behind it with rope. He then tied my upper body to the back of the chair with duct tape. He then took a rope and bound my waist to the bottom of the back of the chair. He then tied my ankles and knees. He finished by taking a piece of rope, tie one end of it to my ankles, and tied the other end to he rope to the back of the chair, ensuring that my feet would not touch the ground.
After finishing with me, he stepped back to admire his work. "Three down and one to go." he said. He then went to Frank and David and rechecked their bonds.
"I'll be back!" he said, and left.
I tried to assess our situation. Andrew got 3 of us, while we got 2 of them. The only one not caught is Jay. Jay!!! Well, when I realized that Jay is the only one left, I realized the game was lost. Now, don't get me wrong. Jay is a great guy. Yet he is too inexperienced on our games and doesn't know how to tie a damn knot even if his life depends on it. Plus, he is against my brother Andrew, who single-handedly turned the game around, even without the other robbers.
I tried to test my bonds and feel for knots. I might be able to get away from this yet. But there was no slack in the ropes that bind me, and the knots were all out of reach. I just sat and wait, hoping that somehow Jay would find us and untie us, or catch Andrew. I looked at both Frank and David, and realized that they too had long given up hope of any escape. We pinned our hopes in the inexperienced Jay.
Our hopes were soon crushed, when twenty minutes later, Andrew came back with the bound and gagged Jay. His hands were tied behind his back with rope, his arms pinned to the body by rope around his upper body, and his mouth sealed with duct tape. Andrew has captured all the cops, and thus won the game. He then laid Jay on the floor and hogtied him. After tying up Jay, said, "I'll be back!"
We lost the game. But where is Donald and Chester? Perhaps Andrew went up to fee them. If this is true, then Andrew is the first boy be free while all the others are tied up.
I was answered when the basement door opened, and Andrew, and the untied and ungagged Chester and Donald followed.
"Told you I got them all!" Andrew boasted.
"I still can't believe we won!" Donald said.
"Yea, especially after we've been captured!" Chester added.
"Believe what you see!" was all what Andrew could say. "We won!"
"We won! We won! That's all that counts!" Chester shouted.
"I think we better untie them now." Chester then said.
"No. I think we should first get our revenge on those awful tickle torture we got!" Donald said.
"Well, I think Donald's right. We should a little fun with these four before we release them!" Andrew responded.
"In that case, let's tickle away!" Chester said.
With that, the three of them began tickling the four of us. They tickled our feet, stomach, sides, ribs and armpits. We were soon laughing like crazy, and this time, there was no breaks. We soon were in tears from all that laughing. They continued this for twenty minutes.
After that, they untied us. We conceded defeat, and we congratulated them on their victory. We did not promise any revenge, because the team members on cops and robbers are determined by a coin toss, meaning your enemy on this game might be your friend in the next and your friend in this game might be your enemy in the next cops and robbers game.
We spent the rest of the afternoon do what ordinary nine and ten year old boys do. We did not play any tie up games the rest of the day. Instead, we have to wait until the next Saturday for the next game. And the next game is very unusual. None of us had expected how it would turn out. Indeed, none of us even expected a tie-up game. What's so unusual and unexpected of the next game? Read the next part and find out.
