It was Nicole's 13th birthday. Since it was August and pretty warm, the boys and girls decided to go swimming.
But instead of visiting the local swimming pool, Nicole had a surprise for her birthday guests. Right behind the house, there was a large lake. "Thank God your parents are rich enough to have this large ground with a private pool!", Rebecca said and wanted to jump in the water.
But Nicole told her to stop. "Wait a minute! You didn't see the best yet!". She went around the corner and presented: A large wooden ship, including masts and white sailings.
Nicole laughed when she saw the stunned faces from her guests. "Surprised? Well, my father built it for a pirate movie, which sadly wasn't filmed due to financial problems! But he got it as a present from the movie company. I used it as a playground when I was younger!"
Thomas asked: "Is it possible that we can play with it?"
Nicole answered: "Of course! Help me to pull it to the riverbank of the lake, and then we can start! I just have an idea!"

Part 2
Together, the children managed to tow the ship to its new berth. Nicole lowered a rope ladder down one side of the ship. "So the merchant ship's crew can get on board more easily later!" she explained.
A round of rock, paper, scissors decided that the boys would be the bloodthirsty pirates, while the girls would be the merchant ship's crew. To their great surprise, Nicole had all the boys play rock, paper, scissors against each other again. "You got the worst result, Andrew and Mike! You'll take on another important role—namely, the role of hungry sharks, just waiting for tender merchant ship crew meat! Tie these dorsal fins on your backs and stand ready on the shore. You'll get a signal when you can go into the water!"
The two sharks were a little disappointed not to be pirates too, but also curious about their roles. Nicole handed them a note with further instructions, and the two sharks disappeared to prepare.
The remaining boys tied bandanas and one-eyed- blindfolds around their heads and took up positions on the pirate ship on the shore, while the girls, armed with several bags of gummy bears and chips, boarded an inflatable boat and rowed around the lake.
As they returned near the pirate ship, they saw the pirates standing in a line on the deck, each holding a water balloon. "Hey, you down there! Raise your hands and give us all your gold, or we'll attack and sink your ship! Escape is pointless; our ship is faster than your boat! So don't make it unnecessarily difficult!" shouted Captain Ben.

Part 3
The girls giggled and raised their hands. "Oh no—it's the dreaded Blackbeard and his crew! We're doomed!" cried Melissa, but she immediately had to bite her lip to keep from laughing out loud.
Candace, too, had raised her hands and pleaded, "Have mercy on us! We're just a few poor fishermen! There's nothing to be gained from us!" She, too, struggled to suppress her giggles.
To everyone's surprise, Captain Nicole, naturally also with her hands raised, shattered the plan and the illusion of the "poor fishermen." "Where is your pride? Our duty is to bring our king's precious gold home safely and defend it with our lives! And that's exactly what we will do!" Unlike her crew, she managed to keep a straight face throughout her entire confession.
Everyone was taken aback by this confession—girls and boys alike. Had Nicole just carelessly signed the "death warrant" for her entire crew?
Comment to find out.

Well it doesn't look like Nicole has a plan on how to succeed with that. Given that she also raises her hands

Part 4
Giggling, but obedient, all the girls on board the small boat raised their hands—all except one: Captain Nicole defiantly crossed her arms and glared angrily at the pirates.
When the pirates again demanded that Nicole surrender, she stuck out her tongue. The pirates' response was immediate: A depth charge landed on the boat just in front of her feet. Of course, in reality, it had no effect other than splashing Nicole's feet, but the pirates, remaining in character, shouted: "Bullseye! In just a few minutes, your little ship will have sunk to the bottom of the sea. And there's not another ship for miles around to save you! You can still come aboard—but make sure you bring your treasures!" A sneer from the boys followed.
Nicole, too, remained in character. She said to her crew: "Get to the pirate ship! At least save your own lives! I, as befits a captain, will go down with the ship! I hereby release you from your oath of allegiance to your captain! Farewell, men!"
But while her crew stood somewhat uncertainly in the puddles of water on their boat, the pirates shouted: "That's not how we wagered, Captain! Either everyone comes aboard, including your treasure—or no one!"

Looks like perhaps, maybe the crew knows the sneaky snarky

snake Captainess

might just be trying to get away with all the treasure for herself.

Part 5
Nicole couldn't risk her crew's lives. Obediently, she rowed the inflatable boat toward the pirate ship. The pirates had already lowered a rope ladder. But before the girls could climb it, the boys threw Nicole several ropes. "Go on—tie each of your crew members' hands together in front of their bodies. And tightly. Otherwise, we'll shove you back with our sabers before we sink your boat with you on board."
Nicole growled something that sounded like a curse, but then tied Melissa's hands together, followed by Candace's, and finally the other girls' hands. "Ouch—not so tight!" protested Rebecca, but she immediately had to bite her lip to keep from bursting out laughing. She was playing her part perfectly.
The ropes weren't too tight, of course, but they were taut enough that the girls wouldn't have been able to get out even if they'd wanted to. One pair of girls' hands after another were tied together in front of their bodies (some accompanied by giggles, others by mock protests), followed by just as many pairs of bare feet, until finally only Captain Nicole of the dinghy crew remained untied.
But when Nicole, unlike the other girls, held out her hands to the pirates without flinching or uttering a sound, Captain Ben, to everyone's surprise, said: "Lay down on your stomach and cross your hands behind your back, Captain!"
To be continued after feedback. As always!
