Games, Dares, and Consequences
Danny has a lot going for him. At fifteen years old, he is an up and coming track star at his school. He is currently 5 foot 10 inches tall, light haired, and has a runners build. His hazel eyes are the talk of several girls in his class. While he likes the attention, he is happiest running with his best friend Larry, and playing video games. Larry, is the same age as Danny, and is on the track team as well. Larry is about six foot tall, dark haired with brown eyes, and a runners build as well. The two had been friends as long as they can remember.
Danny lives with his Dad, Charlie, in a small ranch house outside of town. His mother divorced his dad and left to find herself on the opposite side of the country. He would see his mother a few times a year, but she was usually very busy and didn't have a lot of time. His dad, Charlie, is a manager at one of the distribution warehouses in the area, so his dad is home with him every evening and weekend, unless he has a meeting with his civic organization. If there is one thing Charlie wants to teach his son, it is that we are not alone in this life, and we do what we can to help others around us.
It was a Friday afternoon one day and he and Larry were playing one of their favorite video games. They had just gotten back from track practice after school, and Danny took care of getting dinner started, before he and Larry headed to the living room to play. Now deep into the first game, they were already battling each other hard to best the other. We ought to make a bet, Larry said, loser has to endure a challenge we agree on before the bet. If you lose, you have to endure the challenge. What kind of challenge are we talking about, Danny asked? I don't know, Larry replied, we can think of something that will be exciting or maybe even like a punishment even. I don't like the sound of anything that is a punishment, Danny said. I don't mind a something that will challenge us to either work through or endure, but nothing that would hurt us. That's fair, Larry said, I really didn't mean to imply that it would hurt either of us. So, Danny asked, give me an idea or two what you mean, or it will be loser has to take out the garbage. That is a good one, Larry replied, but it isn't something that can be done more than once. Sure it could if we only bet once a day, Danny replied. True, Larry said, but I was thinking it could be after every game.
Every game, Danny said rather excitedly. That sounds a little intense, don't you think? We don't have to make each game a bet, Larry replied, but maybe a best out of three or something? That sounds more like it, Danny said, but we still need to know what we are playing for. How about the loser has to run barefoot back and forth the gravel driveway, Larry offered. No, Danny said, that would hurt! Well, Larry continued, maybe we could make the loser do something for the winner? Like, Danny asked? Loser could clean the others running shoes. That sounds better, Danny said, but doesn't sound like much fun. Well, Larry said, what do you think would work? How about something more like truth or dare Danny asked? Like if you lose the bet, you have to take on a dare that gives you the chance to beat it, not just endure it. Like, Larry asked? So, Danny said, if you lose this game, I get to tie you up and see if you can escape. What do you mean by tie up, Larry asked? Do you mean like hogtied or something? Could be an option, Danny replied, but could be just having your wrists and ankles tied. Nothing too elaborate. That actually sounds interesting Larry said. I think it would be fun to see you try to get out of the tie up I would put you in. Already have something in mind do you, Danny asked? I might, he replied, I am a boy scout you know. Well, then you better be good at the next round or it will be you trying to escape it, Danny replied. You're on, Larry snorted.
They decided that the winner of the next three games would be the one to tie up the loser. The first game started and the two boys played like their lives depended on it. Danny ended up winning the first game, and the boys took a break before the second round. Danny went to check on the dinner he started, and everything seemed to be going just fine. He went back to the living room and the boys started the second game. If Danny thought the first game was intense, the second one made it seem like a cake walk. It was literally down to the last second, when Danny again won the game. Man! Larry screamed, how did you pull that off? Just lucky I guess Danny replied, but you know what this means. Yeah, Larry said looking down to the floor, no need for the third game to determine the loser. Guess you better get ready, Danny said. Wait here until I can find something to use to tie you up. Danny walked to his room to see if he could find anything to use to tie up Larry, bathrobe string, belt, he wasn't sure what. Then he saw his high top sneakers and the long shoe laces that they had. He removed the laces from the sneakers and headed down to the living room.
What did you find, Larry asked? A couple or sneaker laces, Danny said sadly. I don't know of any rope around here to use, but we can find something else if this doesn't work. Okay, Danny said, put your hands behind your back and let me see what I can do here. Danny stood behind Larry's back and crossed his wrists before looping the shoe lace around them. He went around and in between them and was mindful to keep the knot location away from Larry's fingers. Once he was satisfied he had Larry's wrists secured pretty well, he had Larry sit on the floor and put his legs out in front of him. He had Larry put his ankles together and tied them together the best he could. The shoe lace was shorter than he would have liked and seemed disappointed that there didn't seem to be many loops to hold his ankles together. This looks like it is going to be too easy, Danny said to Larry. You aren't the one tied up either, Larry said, because it seems pretty snug to me. Does anything hurt, Danny asked? No, Larry replied, but it doesn't feel very comfortable either. I don't think being tied up is supposed to be comfortable, Danny said, but if it hurts you have to tell me. I'm good so far, Larry said. Can I start to escape now?
I don't feel like I gave you a good enough challenge to escape from, Danny said, but I don't know what else I can do. So, you might as well start your escape. Larry tried wriggling his wrists and moving his ankles back and forth. He wasn't able to instantly get free, but had only started trying, and wasn't going to let Danny win this round. You know what, Larry said to Danny? What, Danny replied? I think that if I get out of this, Larry said, I should be able to tie you up. You mean without playing a game to determine a winner, Danny asked? I think, Larry continued, if you beat the loser challenge, that you should have the right to challenge the person that tied you. So, Danny said, if you get out on your own, you get to tie me up. Right, Larry said, and if you get out of how I tie you, you can tie me again. So the only way the challenges end is when someone can't get untied then, Danny said. Right, Larry said, don't you think that would be fun? I think there has to be a time limit to get free, Danny said, otherwise you could just keep trying for hours. You are right, Larry said, so what is a good time limit? No more than half an hour, Danny said. Fair, Larry replied, but you can give up if you want before that. Is there a consequence for giving up, Danny said. Yes, Larry replied, you get to be tied up again, after a break. That sounds fair, Danny said, but if it gets late, it could restart the next time we have game time. I agree to that, Larry said. So, Danny said, are you ready to escape now? Yep, Larry replied, I think I am ready now. You only have 30 minutes, Danny said, so don't waste your time. I won't, Larry said, get ready for your own tie up escape.
Larry renewed his efforts to free himself from the shoe laces used to tie him. Danny had done a good job with the shoe laces and movement wasn't too easy for his wrists. He tried turning them and pulling at them, searching for the knot. He could sense that the knot was just far enough away from his fingers to get to. You really did think this through didn't you, Larry said as he struggled to find some kind of give. Don't tell me you are giving up already, Danny said, it didn't seem that sturdy as I was tying it. Well, like I said before, Larry continued, you aren't the one tied up. True, Danny said, but you okay otherwise? Yep, Larry said, just going to keep at it for now. Okay, Danny said, I am going to run into the kitchen quick to look in on dinner. Okay, Larry said, I don't think I am going anywhere.
Danny again ran to the kitchen to make sure everything was fine. He didn't mind letting things cook in the oven, because having to use the top of the stove, meant he had to be there constantly. He still had a half hour before he needed to do anything more for dinner, so he went back to the living room. When he returned, he was surprised to find Larry standing there waiting for him, completely free from the tie up. Wow, he said, do I need to check for scissors or something that you managed to get out while I was gone? Nope, Larry grinned, I made it out on my own, you can check the laces for yourself. Danny looked at the laces which were still in one piece. Then I guess it will be my turn now, Danny replied. Looks like it, Larry said, are you ready? I guess, Danny said, but I have to be untied to continue with dinner before a half hour is over. Do you want to postpone it until the next time, and just start when we get together again?
I think it shouldn't take long for you to get me tied, and if it works out for me like it did you, Danny said, it shouldn't take that long. Never under estimate a scout, Larry said, but if I need to untie you, you get to be tied up again whenever we resume. Fair, Danny said, so might as well get started. Larry set about tying Danny about the only way he could figure out, using the two shoe laces. It ended up being nearly the same as Danny tied him up, due to the limitations of the laces. Well, Larry said, guess I am done with the set up, you may as well try to get out now. Danny had just started to try to wriggle free from his bonds when he suddenly heard the kitchen door open. Hello, Danny heard his dad yell from the kitchen. Hi dad, Danny said, will be out there shortly. Everything looks like it is taken care of in here, his dad said as he walked into the living room. His voice trailed off when he saw the situation Danny was in at the moment. Both boys had turned completely pale when they saw him enter the room.

Part 2
What have we here, Charlie asked the boys. Danny sputtered trying to think of something, but knew he needed to just tell him the truth. He explained the dare and what was going on. We were just looking to make the games more interesting. Well, Charlie replied, I get that, but you need the right tools for the job, and those laces are going to cause you boys a problem. You can get hurt using them and it is only a matter of time. I didn't have any rope or anything, Danny said, it was a spur of the moment idea. Not going to lie to you boys, but rope can get you in trouble too, so you have to be careful of how you use it. Is there something safe Danny asked? Not one hundred percent, Charlie replied, but we need to get you out of that right now, I see your hands are changing color. Charlie removed the laces from his son, and checked his wrists. Larry, Charlie said, do you want to stay for supper tonight? Why, Larry asked? I figure if you two are going to attempt these dares, I need to show you some things to watch out for, and better tools for the job. You both need to be mindful of what to watch for, so you don't end up hurting each other. I could stay, he said, but I would need to check in with my mom first. Sure, Charlie replied, let me know.
In the meantime Danny, come with me, Charlie said. Danny followed his dad to the garage through the kitchen door. Dad, Danny said, this is a little embarrassing to say the least, I hope you aren't mad. No, Charlie replied, all boys go through things like this, even your dad. I think it is a normal contest boys get into. You used to get tied up when you were a kid, Danny asked? Yep, Charlie replied, and it got into some pretty intense competitions between me and my buddies. That is why I know things can go wrong and you have to be vigilant about keeping watch so no one gets hurt. Like when you saw my wrists changing color, Danny replied, Exactly, Charlie said, you know how bad you would feel if Larry went home injured, even if by accident. Yeah, Danny replied, I understand that. So, what are we here for? Rope of course, Charlie said, can't do a proper job without the right equipment. Seriously, Danny said, you are going to give me rope. Not only am I going to give it to you, he replied, I am going to teach you boys how to use it properly. It would be wrong of me not to make you two aware of the risks, and issues you can run into doing this. So I am going to take the time to show you how, and what to look for. But it means I am going to have to tie one of you two up to show you both. I guess, Danny said, but I am a little unsure of this. You can say no to this, Charlie said, but I would prefer neither of you do this without knowing the risks. If not me, Charlie said, who else would you find this out from? I don't know, Danny replied, but I need to be sure Larry is okay with this before we do this.
If Larry is not okay with it, Charlie replied, that is fine, but I still need to show you what to do, and what to look for when Larry is not around. Okay, Danny replied, I get it, I need to know the rules of it. Not completely rules, Charlie replied, more like guidelines and observations that you need to keep in mind. Okay, Danny said, so now what. Charlie opened a cabinet in the corner of the garage. Inside were various types and lengths of rope, from clothesline to heavy duty sisal and others. I didn't even know we had this stuff. You need to have all different kinds of rope for different purposes when you own a house, car, or boat, Charlie replied, but you need the right rope for each job. There, Charlie said, as he looked through the coils hanging on the hooks in the cabinet. This will do the trick.
Charlie pulled out a coil of solid braid nylon rope, that looked to be at least a quarter inch. This should be just fine, but we will have to go over why when I can begin to explain how to use it properly. But, Charlie said, that will have to wait until after dinner. Let's get back in the house to see if Larry can stay and get dinner finished. Okay, Danny said as he followed his dad back to the kitchen. When they entered the kitchen, Larry was standing there looking slightly nervous. So what's the good word, Charlie asked Larry? Mom said I could stay, but I need to get home by eight o'clock. No problem, Charlie said. Are you okay with what I am proposing to show you two boys afterward? I think so, Larry said, but I am a little nervous about this. If you don't want to do this, Charlie said, you don't have to. You can leave if it makes you uncomfortable. Thanks, Larry said, but I am curious as well. Like I told Danny a few minutes ago, I have done this myself with my buddies growing up, Charlie replied, so I know this is a normal thing for boys about your ages. I just want to be sure you guys are doing it safely. You were tied up as a kid, Larry asked incredulously? Yes Larry, Charlie replied, I was a boy once. But know this as well, I was very good at getting free once I was tied, so I can help you both with some pointers as well. I need to hear more about this, Danny said. So do I, Larry followed. We will see, Charlie laughed, but first lets get to supper, shall we?
To be continued...

Part 3
Once dinner was over and the dishes and table cleaned, the guys headed into the living room. Both of the boys waited somewhat nervously for what was going to happen next, and Charlie himself wasn't sure exactly how to start this conversation.
First, Charlie began, there are a few important things to remember. There are places you do not want to allow rope, namely around your neck, or genitals. Obviously, we don't need to discuss the reason for keeping rope away from your genitals, but people seem to think the neck is okay. The problem with that thought is, as you go to try to escape, and rope starts to slip and move, it can start to tighten around your neck. In some cases, if you move the wrong way, you can actually strangle yourself. Do not attach a rope to your neck and ankles ever, especially in a hogtie situation. Strangulation is almost a guarantee. Do you have any questions on this? Both boys shook their heads no, and Charlie decided to move on to the rope.
This is solid braid nylon rope. It is smooth, so there is less chance of rope burn as it is pulled and tied around you, and while you are struggling to get free. It is not impossible to get rope burn from any rope, but some types make it much easier. Stay away from sisal and rough fiber ropes. Cotton is okay, but cotton itself binds tight, so if you tie a tight knot with it, it may not be able to be untied. Great if you mean to keep someone tied up helplessly, but not fair in a challenge. Not to mention, that even if the knot isn't tight at first, it may tighten as the rope is pulled and or the person struggles. By the way, there should always be scissors handy when tying anyone up with any rope in case of emergency. If someone is tied and they are starting to turn blue or deep red, you need to get them out as quickly as possible so there isn't any permanent damage to the persons body that was having the blood flow cut off. Which is why you need to keep an eye on the person tied up at all times. You don't have to stare at them the whole time, but check them over every few minutes.
I know this wasn't brought up, but on the off chance your dares turn into tied and gagged, you need to really keep watch on the person you gagged. Keeping someone quiet while they are tied keeps down on the moaning and grunting sounds, but can also inhibit breathing. So you have to make sure the person is able to breathe at all times. A clogged nose can happen for any reason, so you need to be sure the person has a clean and open airway. Personal comment here, if you do gag each other, use clean items, not dirty used socks or other under garment clothing. I have heard enough about the illnesses that can occur, so don't do it. Besides, they don't taste good to the person forced to endure it. Don't even ask me if it happened to me, Charlie said, you can probably figure that out already for yourself.
The boys broke up in laughter, and after they settled down, Charlie was ready to continue. So, lets get back to what we are here to discuss, tying up your challenger. Again, I have given you this rope, which is one hundred feet of quarter inch round solid braid nylon. You do not want to use anything smaller than quarter inch, as it can get tight and cut off blood flow much easier, not to mention cause more pain. I preferred when my buddies used the three eighth thick rope, as it was kinder to the body, and still was easy to use to tie the person up. Why one hundred feet, Danny asked, isn't that a lot of rope? It is, and especially if left in one piece, Charlie replied. You can use this as it is, or we can break it down into smaller sections to make tying the challenger up easier. But if we cut it, won't if fray and come apart, Larry asked. I will show you how we broke this down using electrical tape to keep the ends in tact, Charlie said. There are other ways to keep the rope from fraying, but have found this to be the best and easiest way.
So what lengths do you break this down into, Danny asked? The sizes you think you will need, Charlie replied, but once you cut it, you can't put it back together. Can we buy more rope, Larry asked? You two can buy however much you think you need, Charlie answered, but you can only use so much rope. Maybe you two should make sure that you are into continuing with this challenge before you invest any more money into it.
Now, do you want me to break this into smaller sections for you, Charlie asked, or do you want to use the whole length at one shot? The boys discussed it between themselves for a few minutes, while Charlie retrieved the scissors and some electrical tape from the drawer. We want it broken down somewhat, Danny said, but we aren't sure how to break it down. How about this, Charlie said, we can cut this into two ten foot pieces, for wrists and ankles, two fifteen foot pieces for longer needs and two twenty five foot pieces for wrapping around the rest of the body, or to a chair etc... That sounds good, the boys replied, and Charlie measured out the lengths and wrapped electrical tape around the spots that would be cut. Once it was all measured and taped, Charlie used the scissors to cut through the center of the taped areas so both ends of the rope had tape holding the ends together. He made sure to roll the ends of the cut ropes with his fingers to make sure the tape was holding tight to the rope ends. Okay boys, there are your ropes.
So, who gets to be tied up first, Charlie asked? Danny, Larry said very quickly, it was his turn when you came home and cut him free. Fair, Danny said, it was my turn. Are you going to tie me dad, or is Larry? Who do you want to tie you, Charlie asked? Well, if you are here to show us some things, Danny said, it should probably be you. What do you think Larry, Charlie asked? I say tie him up, I want to see how you do it. Okay, Charlie said, but you need to tell me how you want him tied then, Charlie said, so tell me what you want me to do.
Hogtie him, Larry said. Wow, Charlie said, right to the tougher stuff I see, as he laughed to himself. It is a challenge after all, Larry said. Well, Charlie said, do you boys have a time limit for these challenges? Half an hour, Danny said, we have that long to get out or we lose the challenge. Probably a good rule to have, any longer than that can be hard on the body and make you really sore. Have you been hogtied before, Danny asked? Lots of times, Charlie said, seemed like my friends thought that was the only way to tie someone up, but there are other more challenging ways that take some real brain work and agility to get out of. What are some of those, Larry asked? We can get to that at another time, Charlie laughed, we only have so much time tonight.
Charlie grabbed one of the ten foot sections of rope and folded it in half. Okay, Charlie said to Danny, Turn around and put your wrists behind your back for me. Danny did as instructed and ran the rope around the outside of Danny's wrists and ran the ends through the crease in the middle of the rope, He pulled slightly to make the rope more snug and then ran a few more loops around his wrists. He ran one side of the rope end through the crease in the middle of the rope again, but not both ends. He tugged at the rope to make sure they were snug and tied a single knot at the crease he was using. By the way, Charlie said, I will refer to this loop made from doubling the rope in half as the bight. Not sure it is the right name, but that's what we called it as kids, and it is great to use to anchor your rope work. He ran the remaining lengths of the two ends in opposite directions in and around Danny's wrists, finally tying the final knots above Danny's tied wrists. Trying to keep the important knots away from the fingers you know, Charlie said, as he looked for a longer piece of rope.
How do your wrists feel Danny, Charlie asked, not too tight? They are fine, Danny replied, but they are definitely snug. Charlies doubled over the second longer rope as he had for the wrists, and started to tie a loop around Danny's chest and upper arms. Again using the bight as a snugging tool, but also tying a knot right away, so it wouldn't loosen as he continued. He used the two ends of the rope to go over opposite sides of Danny's shoulders and behind his back, making sure to cross the ropes over his chest as he came around the front. Tying another knot at the bight, he then used the rest of the rope ends to run between each arm and Danny's sides to shore up the arms from being able to move the rope. Danny let out a sigh, and Charlie asked if something was wrong. No, Danny replied, this is okay, nothing hurts, but I am not thinking this is something I have much of a chance with. You won't know that for sure until you get the chance to escape from it, Charlie said, you might surprise yourself.
Charlie helped Danny to lay face down on the floor. Okay, Charlie said, bend your knees and bring your ankles together, raising straight up and down. Danny did as he was instructed. But, Larry said, I thought the point of a hogtie was to get the wrists and ankles as close together as possible? You like a strict hogtie I see, Charlie said, but first I have to get his ankles tied, before I can get them into place. Oh, Larry said, okay.
Charlie took a fifteen foot length and doubled it as he did the others. He began looping Danny’s ankles as he had his wrists. Once he had the ankles snug and well looped, he tied a knot at the bight, and brought the remaining ends of the rope past Danny's wrists, but to the center of the chest harness he put on Danny earlier. Taking the two ends together in one hand, running then through the center of the harness and back to toward the ankles, Charlie pushed Danny's ankles forward and pulled on the rope ends to bring Danny's ankles closer to his wrists, but not touching. He tied off the rope ends in front of Danny's ankles to keep the knots out of the way. How does that feel, Charlie asked?
Like a roped calf, Danny replied. Well Larry, Charlie asked, what do you think? That looks great, Larry replied, it isn't going to be easy to escape that. You think, Charlie said, you don't think he can do it? I might be able to, Larry said, but Danny doesn't have a chance. You want to prove that, Charlie said? How would I do that, Larry asked? I can set you up the same way, and let the two of you see who gets out first. Yeah, Danny said, I think that would be fair. Well, Charlie said to Larry, are you up for it? Sure, Larry said with a quiver in his voice, I think I can do that.
It didn't take Charlie long to tie Larry up the same way as Danny. They laid next to each other on the living room floor, not close enough to touch, but each could see the other. Okay, Charlie said, you two start to try your escapes and I will set the kitchen timer for 30 minutes. I will check on you in between, but when the timer goes off, I will be in to untie whoever is still tied up. If you get out, let me know, so I can see who the winner is. Okay, Charlie said. Both boys agreed and Charlie went out to the kitchen to set the timer. Timer is ticking down, Charlie yelled from the kitchen, good luck!

Two hogtied 15 year old teens in the livingroom on a Friday night what could possibly be more fun and exciting. My money is on Larry or Danny, one of them should be the first to escape.

Thanks for your replies. This story is one I worked on for a while, and it gets more involved as it goes. Hope the detail between the characters in the beginning doesn't get to be too much, but the story is worth it.
Personally, I was betting on Danny when I started writing it, you will have to see how this goes...

Part 4
Charlie sat down at the kitchen table to read over the newspaper that he had neglected all day. He laughed to himself about having the two boys tied up in the other room. At least I know they won't be getting in trouble, he thought to himself.
Danny and Larry were both struggling against their ropes. They made sure to keep an eye on each other as they worked on their own. But so far, no one was going anywhere. Danny tested each knot and rope while Larry pulled and tugged every possible direction. Larry was literally moving himself across the floor slowly away from Danny with his forced struggles. Danny took a more laid back approach and tried to find any knot he could get a hold of, or any slack he could find. It wasn't long before Charlie walked in the room to check on the boys. It's been about ten minutes Charlie said, just checking to make sure you guys aren't having any issues, or turning any colors. I'm good Danny replied, but this was more than I expected. Do you want me to untie you, Charlie asked? And let you do this to me again, he replied, nope, I will keep trying. Wait, Charlie said, you expect me to tie you up again? If we don't get out, Danny said, we lose the bet, and have to let you tie us up again for another try. I don't remember agreeing to that, Charlie said, this is a contest between you two. It is, Larry said, but we didn't tie up the other, you did. It wouldn't be fair for us to give the other a second attempt if we didn't get out of it. But, Charlie said, if one of you gets out, then the winner gets to tie up the loser? Yes, Danny said, but I am not thinking that is going to happen at the moment. Well, Charlie said, don't give up, and I will be back to check on you again is a few minutes.
Charlie shook his head, he didn't expect to have to do any more than show them how they used to do it when he was younger. He had no intention of being a part of their game. Still, he chuckled to himself, they asked for it. One of them will get out, he thought.
Ten minutes later Charlie again walked into the room to check on the boys. Both appeared to be a little more subdued than they were earlier. Larry was no longer thrashing at his ropes, and Danny just seemed to be contemplating his next move. You two okay, Charlie asked? Yes, Danny said, I'm fine. Me too, Larry said, are you sure you haven't done this in a while? I'm sure, Charlie laughed, but I guess its like riding a bike, once you know how, you don't lose it.
Charlie returned to the kitchen and silently hoped to himself that one of the boys would find their way out. The thought of tying them up on a continuing basis made him more than a little nervous. This is for them to play, he thought to himself, not me. Still, how do I manage to make sure they get out the next time? Charlie thought about it for a while when he was brought back to the present by the timer going off.
Charlie turned off the timer and headed into the living room. He was sorry to see that both boys were still tied up as well as when he left them a half hour ago. How's it going, Charlie said to the boys? Not well, Danny said, but since I heard the timer, I guess you will be untying us now. Yes, Larry agreed, somewhat exhaustedly, I hoped it wouldn't be much longer. So you both lost this round, Charlie said, are you sure I can't just give you two more time? No, Danny said, we lost, and even with a few more hours, I don't think I am getting out on my own. Me either, Larry said. Well then, I guess I have to get busy untying you. Charlie started to release the boys, Danny first, since he was tied up first, then Larry. Once the boys were free and were able to stand and move around, Danny turned to Charlie. So, Danny said, how are you going to tie us up now? I'm not, Charlie said, there are only twenty minutes until Larry has to go, and we don't want him showing rope marks when he leaves. Aw, heck, Larry said, I wanted to see what was next.
Aren't you tired from this round, Charlie asked? Yes, Larry replied, but it was fun. Don't want it to end already. Well, Charlie laughed, that is how it goes in life, fun is over before we know it and have to wait. Still, Charlie said, rub your wrists and ankles to help those rope marks go away. You can use some lotion if you want to help make them leave. What happens if they don't go away before I go home, Larry panicked. They should be gone by then, Charlie said, but if not, your socks and shirt will hide the other marks, the wrists you may have to hide for a little longer. But they should go pretty quickly, Charlie added, I really hadn't tied you that tight. If that was not tight, Danny said, I would hate to know what tight is. I don't believe in tight rope work, Charlie replied, it only brings pain and marks, if not rope burn. How long did you and your friend play these tie up games, Larry asked? Who said, we stopped, Charlie laughed. Wait, Danny replied, you still get tied up? Not much, Charlie replied, but it has happened once or twice in the last few years. Some people find it hard to grow up you know.
The clock on the wall was ringing the hour and it was time for Larry to go home. As if on cue, the doorbell rang, and it was Larry's dad looking for him. Hi Hank, Charlie said, Larry is getting his stuff together, come in. Hank walked in and made small talk with Charlie while Larry got his stuff packed up. Larry came toward them, backpack in hand and said goodnight. Don't forget it's Saturday tomorrow, see you in the morning Danny said to Larry. Yep, Larry said, I'll let you know when I am able to come over. Hank said that once his chores were done, he would be able to go. Depends on you, and how long you take, Hank poked at him. Larry just groaned and walked out the door, with Hank waving goodbye behind him.
Once the car pulled away from the house, Danny looked right at Charlie. Do you still play tie ups, Danny asked? Very rarely, Charlie replied, but they used to be fun contests when we were younger. How long have you two been playing them, Charlie asked? Actually, this was the first night, Danny replied. Wait, Charlie said, this was the first time either of you were ever tied up? Danny just turned his gaze elsewhere, as to avoid eye contact. What is going on young man, Charlie said, and I want the truth. Have you been tied up before? Yes, Danny said sheepishly, but not by anyone else. You have tied yourself up, Charlie inquired? A couple of times, he replied, I don't know, I was curious. What did you use to do that, Charlie asked? A bathrobe string, some shoe laces, anything with some length to it. How does it make you feel? Charlie asked? I don't know, he replied, somewhat excited, somewhat challenging, but it isn't like I can tie myself up well. Were you ever going to tell me, Charlie asked? No, Danny replied, I figured you would just get mad at me and punish me or something. Wow, Charlie said, I didn't think I was so bad you couldn't talk to me about things like this. Your not, he said, but I feel weird because of it. It isn't normal to want to be tied up is it? For some people it is, Charlie replied, not all. But it doesn't mean I wouldn't have understood. That wasn't a leap I was thinking I could make, Danny said, are you mad?
No, Charlie said, I am not mad. I am disappointed that you didn't think you could at least talk to me about this, but not mad. So you aren't mad at me for tying myself up, Danny asked again. No, Charlie said, but I don't like the idea of you being tied up without anyone looking out for you. Not to mention using items to tie yourself that could hurt you if something goes wrong. So now what do I do, Danny said, I like to struggle against the ropes, it makes me feel good. Then do it, Charlie said, but if you do, have someone around to help you if something goes wrong, and use the right equipment. Who is going to want to tie me up when I am going to bed, Danny said frustrated. I will, Charlie said, if you want me to. But you can't be left tied up all night or anything, just little sessions as you need your sleep.
Tell you what, Charlie said, tomorrow we will go shopping and pick up some stuff you can use for this hobby of yours that is better than what you are using. If you ever want me to set you up, you need to let me know, and what you are looking for. But tonight, you need to relax after that hogtie you endured. Okay, Danny said. Dad, Danny asked, do you like to be tied up? Well, Charlie said, since you asked and are being honest with me, I will tell you. I like to be tied up once in a while, so I can find my way out of it. I like the thrill of being able to untie myself from a difficult tie up. But most of those days have passed for me, and I am not as agile as I was years ago. But you liked to escape it, Danny asked. Yes, Charlie replied, I did, and still do. Does that mean you will let me tie you up sometime, Danny asked? Maybe, Charlie said, we will see how things go. Thanks, Danny said. For what, Charlie asked? For not being mad, for being honest, and looking out for me. That is what dad's do, Charlie said. But lets not go telling the world and just keep this between us. Definitely, Danny said, neither of us need anyone else to know. That means Larry too, Charlie replied. Okay, Danny said, but you may have already given yourself away with him. Well, if I did, Charlie replied, he doesn't have to know more than he does right now. Okay, Danny said. Guess I will get ready for bed. See you tomorrow, Danny said as he headed to the stairs. Goodnight son, Charlie said.

HEY Charlie the word got our about you tying your son up, the whole world knows about it now. Some guy by the name of Chair Tied Up, I suspect its a pseudonym, is writing a whole story about you and Danny and has gotten to the part about not telling anyone else, good luck with that. Just try keeping it a secret now.

Part 5
Charlie hoped he had done the right thing with the boys, and after giving it serious thought, wished he would have been able to be that open with his dad. His father would not have put up with this kind of thing. Not what men do, he figured his dad would say, grow up. Still, having had his own dealings of playing tie up challenges with his close friends, seemed to have had more positive influence on him than a negative one. It was one of the first times in his life he had to deal with a situation that he wasn't in control of, and had to either endure or defeat. He learned to be patient and think things through. Analyze the situation, try different approaches, and eventually find a solution. These were tools he used in all aspects of his life, and helped him get to the place he was now. So there was more good that came out of it than bad. Yes, he had to endure occasional rope burn, sore muscles, and some humiliation if he wasn't able to find his way out. But that was the fun of it as well. Not only did he have to endure the situations he was tied in, but the situations he tied his friends into. Winning was the best feeling, whether he was the person tying or the person tied. He preferred to be the person tied. Getting out of your friends best handiwork always provided the most satisfaction. Which in a way worked out for him as his friends moved on, the remaining friend preferred to do the tying.
What would Larry think if he found out that it was his father, Hank, who tied him up? That would be information he would have to learn from his father if he ever chose to share it. Hank was pretty good about offering the occasional challenge when they had nights out. Both still enjoyed the challenge, but Charlie was sure Hank's wife wouldn't be happy about Hank still playing those games. Still, since they usually happened at Charlie's house while Danny was off staying with his mom, no one would know this went on. One day, Charlie thought, I am going to talk Hank into being tied, and we will see how he does after these years. Now hopefully, the boys will have their own fun with it as he and Hank had over the years.
Charlie's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Danny coming back down the steps. What's up, Charlie asked? Can't sleep, Danny said, keep thinking about being tied up tonight. Good, or bad thing, Charlie asked? Good, Danny said, I think. The problem is, I want more. Can't get my mind off being tied up like I was and how helpless it felt. Helpless, Charlie replied, and that is a good thing to you? Kind of, Danny said, because I have never really been tied up that way before, where I felt like it didn't matter how long I tried, I wasn't going to get out. I know I could probably find my way out, at some point, Danny said, and I want to be able to do that. Escape, Charlie replied. Yeah, Danny said with a sigh, I want to be able to escape being tied up like that. You mean hogtied in particular, or any way, Charlie asked? I want to escape from all ways I could be tied up. Can you show me how you did it, Danny asked? I had to learn it on my own, Charlie replied, mostly from my experiences and learning a few tricks. I wouldn't mind helping you to learn this stuff, but don't you think you are better off figuring this out working through this with Larry? Larry is good, Danny said, and I trust him, but sometimes he gets bored of things. You think he will get bored with the tie up challenges then, Charlie asked? It is possible, Danny said, and I hate to admit it, but I am really into it. Believe it or not, Charlie replied, I get it. I used to want to practice all the time when I was your age. Wanted to be able to get out of anything. When I did, Charlie continued, I felt so amazingly high, like I climbed a dangerous mountain successfully. But, Charlie said, what would your mom think if she found out I was tying you up? Does it matter, Danny asked, I am not going to tell her about this, she wouldn't understand. I see, Charlie replied, sit down, we need to talk a little more.
Danny sat down across the table from his dad. Tell me the truth, Charlie said, how long have you been into being tied up? Since I was about ten, Danny said. I remember something being on a TV program where a boy was kidnapped and tied up. He looked scared and helpless, Danny continued, but then he did his best to try to escape it. The struggling he did, got me to thinking that I bet I could get out of that. Did the boy in the program escape, Charlie asked? He almost got completely out when the kidnapper walked in on him and caught him. Tied him up much more strict the next time, even duct taped him too. So what happened, Charlie said, did he get out? I don't know, mom said I had to go to bed, so I never saw the end of the show. But I spent the rest of that night thinking about it. So then at some point you decided to see what it felt like, Charlie said. Yep, Danny said, and at first it scared me a little, but then I couldn't get it out of my mind, so I did it more. Now, Danny said, with his head facing toward the floor, I feel like I want more. I want to feel tied well, and struggle to get out. But, he said, when you tie yourself up, you can't actually do a good enough job, but I am also afraid of something going wrong and I get stuck. The thought of you or mom finding me tied up is the last thing I want to have happen. Do you feel all this is somehow wrong, Charlie asked? Yeah, Danny replied, I feel like I would be in big trouble, but I'm not hurting anyone. Well, Charlie said, the truth is, you might actually cause yourself harm if something goes wrong, and that would bother me. That is why I stuck my nose in your business tonight when I found you guys having that tie up challenge tonight.
Because you don't want me to get hurt, Danny said. That, along with Larry possibly getting hurt as well. If I am completely honest, Charlie continued, I just wanted you to know that I didn't mind you guys doing that. I don't want you to be afraid of me finding this out, and getting mad or upset with you. I want you to know first and foremost that I care about you, and don't want to see you get hurt. I know you care about me dad, Danny said, I just didn't know how you would feel about this. Well, Charlie replied, do you know now? I think so, Danny said, but you need to know that I am glad you reacted the way you did. I feel better about it now, knowing you actually did this kind of thing when you were younger. I did, and I do, Charlie said, not that this was something I ever planned on telling you. But since it is out in the open now, Charlie continued, we need to work out what you want from me, and what I need you to pay attention to. But it is getting late, and you need some rest, so we should talk about this tomorrow morning, if you want. I do want to continue talking about this, Danny said, but can I ask you one more thing? Sure, Charlie said what do you want to know. Were you serious when you said that you would tie me up if I wanted it? Yes, Charlie replied, I wouldn't tell you that if I didn't mean it. Then would you please tie me up, Danny asked? Now, Charlie asked? Yes, Danny replied, now, in my room. Not a hogtie this time of night I hope, Charlie said. No, Danny said, nothing that strict, just something I can struggle with for a little while.
Okay, Charlie said, I think I know what you need. But I am not letting you be tied up all night, I know, Danny said, you told me that before, but maybe for a little while? How long are you thinking, Charlie asked? An hour, Danny asked a little sheepishly? Alright, Charlie said, let's head up to your room and I'll see what I can do with you. Thanks, Danny said, I appreciate this. You say that now, Charlie warned, but you haven't been tied yet. You may not like it as much as you think. We'll see, Danny replied.
Charlie retrieved the rope they had put away and followed Danny up the stairs to his room. Let's keep this simple for now, Charlie said. He took one of the smaller lengths of rope and tied Danny's wrists together in front of him. He then tied Danny's ankles together with another small length. Is that it, Danny asked? Not enough for you, Charlie asked? It seems a little easy don't you think, Danny asked? Okay son, Charlie said, I will make this a little harder, but if you want out, you need to give me a shout, otherwise you will be this way for an hour. I'll be fine, Danny said, do your worst. Not tonight, Charlie said, you have a long way to go to be ready for my worst. Charlie grabbed one of the longer ropes and tied a loop around Danny's bound wrists, He had Danny bring his wrists over his head and up to the bed headboard where he ran the rope through one if the spindled openings. He looped the rope around the bottom board of the headboard and made a knot. He then ran the rope under Danny's bed and up from the bottom of the bed. He ran the end of the rope through Danny's tied ankles and back down toward the bed frame under the center of the bottom of the bed. He tied the rope off underneath the bed to the frame. Once he checked to see that Danny had some slack to move around, but not too much, he told Danny that was all he was getting for tonight. How does it feel, Charlie asked. Pretty good, but not too tight, Danny replied. Then I guess I will check on you in an hour, Charlie said as he headed to the door of the bedroom. Not if I get out before that, Danny said. Sure, Charlie laughed, you never know. Charlie turned out the light on his way out and closed the door behind him. Obviously, Charlie said to himself, this kid is a chip off the old block.
Charlie went back downstairs and started closing up the house for the night. He made sure the doors were locked, and all the lights were turned off. He listened at the bottom of the steps before he started up them, to see if he could hear anything from Danny's room. With the exception of a few sounds of movement on the bed, it was mostly quiet. Charlie climbed the steps and went in the bathroom to brush his teeth and get ready for bed. As he was brushing his teeth, he heard a few grunts of exasperation from Danny's room. Not finding it as easy as he thought, Charlie said to himself. He opened the door to Danny's room to check on him and make sure he was okay. Danny said he was fine, and to let him work it out. No problem, Charlie said, will be in when your hour is up.
As Charlie settled into his bed and pulled out his crossword book, he made sure to keep an ear open for sounds from Danny's room. Except for the occasional creak of the bed frame or mattress, it was basically quiet. Charlie dove into his crossword puzzles after he set his phone alarm to go off when Danny's time was up. Charlie had completed three crossword puzzles in his book when he noticed that the alarm was going to go off in about two minutes. He turned off the alarm and listened intently for any sounds coming from Danny's room. He didn't hear much of anything. Come to think of it, Charlie said to himself, I don't remember hearing a lot of sound while working on the last puzzle. I wonder, he said as he started down the hall toward his son's room.
Charlie opened the door to the room and looked in. There laid Danny, still tied like he was when he left, only now sound asleep. No sense waking him if I don't have to he thought. Charlie approached his son using his cell phone for light and started to untie his wrist ropes. Rather than pull the ropes away, he just loosened them after he undid the knot and left his wrists lay loose. He did the same with Danny's ankles, untying the knot and loosening the ropes so his legs were free. He decided that pulling the ropes out from under the bed would only wake up his son. He threw the bed spread over top of his son and left, closing the door behind him.
Guess he wore out, Charlie said, can't wait to see what he says in the morning.

Part 6
It was seven thirty five the next morning when Charlie woke up. He looked at the clock and sat up slowly, trying to get the sleep out of his eyes. Slept in, he said to himself. Charlie was usually up by six AM on any day of the week, but somehow today, he got a little more. Bet Danny is already out on his morning run, he thought to himself as he got up from the bed. He headed into the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. As he stood in the shower, letting the water wake him up, he started going over everything that happened last night in his mind. Can only wonder what Danny thought when he woke up this morning. Charlie was glad he got to have the discussions with Danny about the tying and rope challenges. He was proud that his son actually was honest with him about how he felt and what he had done before. Guess it pays to be honest with your kids, he thought. Just hope I can get him to do most of this stuff with his friends rather than me.
Once he climbed out of the shower and finished getting dressed, he headed toward the stairway. Strange, Charlie thought to himself, usually when Danny leaves, he leaves his door open. He peeked inside Danny's room, to find Danny was still asleep in bed. He closed the door as he backed up and headed down the stairs. Looks like I am not the only one who slept in today.
Charlie opened the front door to pick up the newspaper and then headed into the kitchen. He got his coffee maker started and sat down to look over the headlines. Trying to decide what he was going to do for breakfast, he went over to the refrigerator and pulled out the coffee creamer and some bacon. He decided today was going to be a bacon and egg breakfast day, so he started by frying the bacon. Just as he was finishing pulling the last few strips from the pan, Danny appeared behind him in his running clothes. Hey dad, Danny said, I'll be back in a little bit, can you save me some bacon? Sure, Charlie said, I will leave some in the microwave in a paper towel for you. Thanks, Danny said as he sprinted toward the door. Charlie finished up dealing with the bacon and got a few eggs from the refrigerator. What kind of eggs today, he thought to himself? He decided on sunny side up and made two eggs, while putting some bread in the toaster. His eggs didn't take long and as he was putting them on his plate, the toast popped up. Timing, he said to himself. Charlie made short work of the breakfast he had made and finished reading his newspaper at the same time. As he was loading his dishes into the dishwasher, Danny returned from his run.
What are you having for breakfast, Charlie asked Danny, other than bacon? Shower first, Danny said, then I think I want some scrambled eggs with cheese and some toast. Why? I could make that for you if you want, Charlie said, I have some time. Thanks, Danny said, that would be great. See you in a few minutes.
Danny came back downstairs a while later. His breakfast was waiting for him in the microwave to keep things warm. He retrieved the items and sat down with a glass of orange juice. Thanks again, Danny said. No problem, was his father's reply. Danny downed his breakfast while his dad looked through some papers he had pulled from his desk. You aren't working today are you, Danny asked:? No, Charlie replied, this is just some paperwork I needed to get done for my car insurance and stuff. The bills never end you know. Dad, Danny asked, do you think I will be able to go for my drivers license after my birthday next week? Well, Charlie replied, how are you going to pay for the insurance that we will need for you to get this license? I could get a job somewhere, Danny said, I know the grocery store at the end of the road is hiring. I think you have to be sixteen to be able to work there, Charlie replied, how do you suppose they are going to hire you before then? I already know the manager, he is one of my school friends dad, and he seems like he is an okay guy. Maybe when we go shopping today, we could stop there so I could talk to him? Okay, Charlie said, if that is what you want to do. Just remember, school work comes first. I know, Danny said, but if I want to drive, I need to be able to pay my way.
After breakfast was over and everything taken care of, Charlie and Danny headed to the car. Did you hear from Larry yet, Charlie asked? Yeah, Danny replied, he said the earliest he will be available today is after eleven this morning. He will call me when he is allowed to come. Good, Charlie said, we have time. Shall we head to the grocery store first? I think that would be a good idea, Danny said.
Dad, Danny spoke a little hesitantly, when did you untie me last night? Once the hour was up, Charlie replied. You must have been tired, because when I came in to your room, you were out like a light. I don't remember falling asleep, but I do know at one point I gave up trying to get out of the tie you did for me last night, Danny said. Was that okay, Charlie asked, or do you want me to wake you if you want me to do that for you again? It was okay, but when I woke up on my side this morning, I wondered how I got free, as the ropes were still laying around. At first I thought I got out in my sleep, Danny said, but I thought during my run, that it had to be you. It was, Charlie said, I just didn't want to wake you.
So, Charlie asked, how did it feel being tied up in your bed like that? A little weird at first, Danny replied, because I knew I asked to be in that situation. But it felt nice, and I tested it as much as I could. You are really good at tying someone. Actually, Charlie said, at some point in the future, once you have had more experience with being tied up, you will find it easier to find a way out. Not that you always will, Charlie warned, but you will be a lot more successful than you might be now. So I should be able to find my way out with more experience, Danny asked. Yep, Charlie replied, just like with most other things. So you don't always get untied then on your own, Danny asked? No, Charlie replied, not always, but most of the time. Will you be getting tied up again soon, Danny inquired? Not that I am aware of, Charlie replied, but I am not the one looking for that at the moment. You know, Danny said, I wouldn't mind tying you up if you wanted me to. Thanks for the offer, Charlie said, maybe someday, but get some more experience with tying first. You mean like on Larry, Danny asked? Well, yes, Charlie said, that is who you are working with on this now isn't it? Yes, Danny replied, there is no one else involved. That's fine, Charlie replied, it is better that you guys work together on this without a whole group of people getting involved. Too many people involved can lead to problems. One on one is manageable.
The car pulled into the parking lot at the grocery store, and they both got out. I will start shopping, Charlie said, you go see the manager and see what he tells you. I'll catch up with you in the aisles, Danny replied. Charlie was nearly done with his shopping when Danny appeared in the last aisle of the store. So, Charlie asked, how did it go? Pretty good actually, Danny replied, he will hire me when I turn sixteen, but I need to get working papers. We will have to take care of that sometime during the week. Probably one day after school. I will use some time at work and we will get you what you need. There is no school on Wednesday, perhaps we could get it done then, Danny asked? I will talk to my manager and see what I can do, Charlie replied, no promises though. I know, Danny replied, you are like super important at work. One day, Charlie replied, you might find yourself relied on where you work as well.
They finished up the grocery shopping and headed to the car. Once they got the refrigerated and frozen things into the cooler bags Charlie kept in the car, they headed for the hardware store. It only took about two minutes to get there and the lot looked pretty full. Saturday is always busy here, Charlie said, but lets go get what you need. Danny felt nervous and excited at the same time. He knew what they were buying the rope for, but no one else would. Still, why did he feel so nervous about it?
Once inside, they headed over to the rope and chain section of the store. There were all types of rope filling almost half the aisle. Some bundled into one hundred foot, fifty foot sections, and others in smaller amounts. Then there was the rope hanging down from reels hung on the racks that you could buy by the foot. Wow, Danny said, I didn't expect this. Well, Charlie snickered, there are a lot of things rope is made for, and a lot to choose from. Charlie went over to the rack with the hanging rope and made Danny run his hand down the different ropes hanging down. Sisal, Cotton, Polyester, and Nylon, as well as other types and braids. Why do some look like this, and others different, Danny asked? Some are what they call twisted rope, and some are braided, and there are different types of braids. All are for different strengths and purposes, Charlie replied. A couple appeared in the aisle after Charlie finished his explanation and Danny stiffened up. Charlie just moved over to the section where they had the prepackaged lengths of the braided nylon rope and picked up two packs of the one hundred foot length and two fifty foot length packs. Come on, he said, we need some other stuff.
They headed down the next aisle which had all kinds of tape and adhesives. Charlie went over and picked up a two rolls of electrical tape, as well as, four large rolls of duct tape. Danny was afraid to ask about the duct tape as there were so many people around. They headed for the checkout line, and were able to get in one of the self serve lines. This made Danny relax a little. What if someone asked what they were going to do with all the rope and tape. They had just finished bagging their items and headed toward the door when they heard someone call them. It was Hank. Hello, he said, didn't even want to stop over to say hello? I didn't think you worked on Saturday, Charlie said to Hank. I usually don't, he replied, but had one too many call offs today, so I had to come in.
Buying anything good, he asked? Just some supplies for the house and garden, Charlie said. How are you doing Danny, Hank asked? Good, Danny replied trying to hide his nerves. We went grocery shopping before, and Danny applied for a job there, Charlie said. What, Hank said, you don't want to work here? I didn't think about it, Danny said, and the grocery store is closer. Planning on riding your bike into work then I imagine, Hank said. Yep, Danny said, until I can get my drivers license. Uh oh, Hank teased, you can't be old enough to drive yet can you? I'll be sixteen next week, Danny said, so yes I will. Hank laughed and said that Larry just talked to him about getting his license. But he has a little more time to wait than you.
But, Hank continued, if you don't like working at the grocery store and want to try your hand working here, let me know. Thanks, Danny replied, I will let you know. So, Hank asked, what are you up to today Charlie? Just getting stuff done around the house, you know tying up the loose ends, Charlie replied. I have a few of my own that need to be taken care of, Hank replied. Well, better get back to the other customers, Hank said, have a good day. Maybe we will see you later, Charlie asked? Probably if I have to pick up Larry later, he replied. See you later.
Once they got to the car, Danny looked at his dad and said, just tying up a few loose ends? What, Charlie said, it is just an expression. You don't think he knows you are going to tie someone up, Danny said. Why would Hank suspect that, Charlie said, am I not aware of something? Not that I know of, Danny replied, but what if that is what he thought? I am sure it wasn't, Charlie replied, but I can tell you are nervous about today, and that someone might find out about it. You don't have to worry about me giving you away. I know, Danny replied, but I didn't expect you to say that. Hank and I have known each other a long time, Charlie said, he knows it isn't something sinister. What do you think he meant by he had some loose ends of his own, Danny asked? Do you think he ties up Larry? How would I know that, Charlie asked, I am sure he just meant projects around the house. Don't be so worried, and don't allow your imagination to run away with you.
Once they got home and unloaded the groceries, and the hardware store items, they settled at the kitchen table to have something to drink. While Charlie sipped his coffee, Danny just stared at him over his glass of chocolate milk. What, Charlie asked? Why did you buy so much rope, and what is the duct tape for? What do you think it is for, Charlie asked? I'm not sure really, Danny replied, it seems like you are planning on some serious tying, but are you going to gag us? We haven't even discussed gagging anyone yet really, Charlie said, and I don't see the purpose of it at this point. I just wanted to replenish my supplies, as I used the last of the duct tape the other day on the grill cover. Oh, Danny said almost a little disappointed. I had to replace the rope I gave you and Larry yesterday, and I decided to get a little extra in case I would need it. Trust me, he continued, I have no intention of keeping you two tied up all day. I know, Danny replied, but it just seemed like a lot.
With that said, the phone rang. It was Larry telling Danny that he would be over just after lunch. Chores ran a little long today, Larry said, but I also slept in. Okay, Danny said, we will see you then.
Charlie and Danny decided to have a light lunch before they continued on with the day. After cleaning up the kitchen, Charlie went out to the garage to get some of his projects done. One of the projects he had though was breaking one of the fifty foot lengths into two lengths and the one hundred foot lengths of rope into two more ten foot lengths, two fifteen foot lengths, and left the remaining fifty foot in tact. Could have just cut the fifty footer into the smaller ones he thought afterward, but figured out it wasn't an issue. He put the prepared lengths away out of sight in case he would need them. But what was he going to do with the boys once they were ready for the next challenge.
Charlie let a smile slowly grow across his face. He had an idea, but he needed to get things ready. He went back into the house and was heading to the stairs, passing Danny who was already engrossed in one of the video games. Practicing to win before Larry gets here are you, he asked? I want to have the upper hand as much as possible, Danny replied. Can't get practice tying if I am the one being tied. You are going to get experience from either side of the challenge, Charlie said, don't think for a moment you won't learn anything from being the person tied. Yes, Danny replied, I get that, but I like to win. We all like to win, Charlie said, just watch how you treat the person you are dealing with, as you could lose a friend in the process. I wouldn't do that, Danny replied, Larry and I are just playing around. Yes, Charlie said, for the moment you are. But if the challenge becomes a contest where winning is the only thing, it could ruin the friendship you have. Think about that, Charlie said, I know it all too well.
I'm going upstairs to get some stuff together, Charlie said, let me know when Larry gets here and you two are ready for the next challenge. I will, Danny said, I know we can't wait to get started. You can take time to play a game or something before jumping into the next challenge, Charlie said, enjoy your time to relax. Charlie headed up the stairs while Danny returned to playing his game.
Charlie went to the spare bedroom. This would be a better place to have the boys work on their challenges, he thought. Now, I just need to get some stuff set up. Charlie went over to the desk, and pulled out the wooden desk chair, moving it to the middle of the room. He had another one of these chairs in his room, so he went to get it. Once he got the one from his room, he placed it facing the other chair. Good, he thought, this way they get to watch each other work on their challenge. Both chairs were simple desk chairs. They had no arms, but each had a padded seat and solid wood frame. The back the chairs were about as high as the boys shoulders, and there were a wooden ball at the top of each post. These would come in handy, Charlie thought to himself. Guess I better get the ropes in here as well. Charlie retrieved the rope from his room, and the ones that he used on Danny last night from his bedroom. I think I will get a few more lengths, he thought to himself, and headed back downstairs.
Once he got to the garage and opened the cabinet he stored the extra rope lengths he just made, he grabbed them and started toward the kitchen, He stopped dead when he saw himself in the mirror by the door. He saw the look on his face and the ropes he held in his hands. What am I doing, he asked himself? He just stood looking at his reflection and could see the same look he remembered having when he was younger and playing these challenge games with his friends. He couldn't let himself get carried away like he did then, he thought, I have to let them learn this for themselves.

So good to see another chapter posted; Danny must have felt extremely nervous buying all that rope and duct tape... lucky him!

Part 7
As he walked into the kitchen, he could hear Danny greeting Larry at the door. Larry came in and saw that Danny was playing the game they had played yesterday. Are you practicing without me, Larry asked? I was just playing until you got here, Danny replied. Sure, Larry teased, I bet you were. So, Larry continued, is your dad still going to put us into another challenge today? Yep, Danny said, we even got some more rope in case we needed it. It was at that moment, the boys realized that Charlie was entering the room. Hey dad, Danny said, Larry is here. Hi Larry, Charlie said, I thought I heard you when I came into the kitchen. How much of the conversation did you hear, Larry asked nervously? Not much of anything, Charlie replied, just could hear it was you. So when do you want to do the next challenge, Danny asked? Whenever you boys are ready, he replied, no hurry.
But we are ready, Danny said. Yeah, Larry replied as well, I haven't been able to think about much else. Pretty sad story, Charlie said, can't believe the most important thing in your life is getting tied up by me. But it was fun, Larry said, and you know so much. I don't know everything, Charlie replied, but I know what my experiences have taught me. So, Danny said, are we ready to go? Sure, Charlie replied, but we aren't doing this in the living room. Let's head up to the spare bedroom and we will set up in there. Why not here, Danny asked, we were here last night? Yes, Charlie replied, but this is the beginning of the afternoon, and I can't have two tied up boys in plain view from the door. What happens if someone comes to the door? Nope, Charlie said, it's the spare bedroom or the cellar, and I don't think either of you want to be tied up down there. No, Danny said, I don't want to be left there. Okay, Charlie said, head on up and I will be right behind you.
The boys headed upstairs while Charlie took the time to lock the front door, and kitchen door. Don't want any surprise visitors, he thought. He headed up the stairs to catch up with the boys. He was going to have to be smart about this.
When the boys entered the room, they were surprised to see the two desk chairs set up in the middle of the room. Are you going to tie us to those chairs, Larry asked? Yep, Charlie said, and you will get the bonus of being able to see what the other guy is doing to escape. So what is the plan, Danny asked? Quite simple, Charlie replied, we are going to flip a coin to see who gets tied up first, and then I will tie each of you to one of the chairs. The winner of the coin toss will get to see how I tie up the loser, and then I will tie up the winner, so the loser of the toss can see how I tie up the other person. That way you both have the same ability to watch how I tie someone to a chair, as well as, think of the best way to escape. Now, Charlie said as he pulled a coin out of his pocket, Larry call it in the air, heads or tails? Charlie flipped the coin and Larry yelled heads. Charlie grabbed the coin from the air and plopped it on the desk. Tails, he pronounced. Guess Larry, Charlie said, you get to be the first one tied today. Pick the chair you would rather, Charlie continued, and I will get to work on your challenge. Larry sat in the chair closest to the bed, and Charlie picked up a small length of rope and tied his wrists together behind the chair back. Okay Danny, Charlie said, you might as well sit in the other chair and I will start your tie up at the same time. I figure if I do this one step at a time for the two of you, both will benefit from it. Danny did as instructed and Charlie tied his wrists the same way as Larry's. Charlie grabbed one of the longer lengths of rope and started to wrap it around Larry's upper arms and chest, making a few loops around before knotting it, and looping again. He made sure to wrap around each arm and the chair posts as well as his chest. He finally tied of the ends of the rope out of Larry's reach. How is that, Charlie asked. Seems snug, Larry said, but not too tight. Fine, Charlie said and he grabbed another length and did the same to Danny.
Since Larry had taken his shoes off when he entered the house, Charlie used a middle length rope to tie his socked ankles together, and then ran the rope under the middle of the chair. Charlie walked behind the chair and pulled the rope bringing Larry's bound ankles under the chair and his ankles bumped against the crossbar halfway under the chair. He tied the ankles fast to the crossbar, and then brought the end of the rope up behind the chair and through the middle of Larry's bound wrists, then back down to the crossbar, where he tied it off, making sure Larry's wrists were know less free to move. Too tight, he asked Larry? Wow, Larry said, that sure made this more difficult. Yes, Charlie chuckled, but is it too tight? No, Larry said, just more formidable than I was expecting. Good, Charlie said as he grabbed the next coil of rope and tied Danny the same way. Too tight, Charlie asked Danny? Nope, Danny said, but Larry is right, never been tied up this good before.
Okay gentlemen, Charlie said, now how long for this challenge? Didn't we decide on thirty minutes for these, Danny asked? Definitely for a hogtie, Charlie said, but this tie is not as hard on the body. Thirty minutes is fine with me, but are you sure you don't want a little more time? Danny looked at Larry. Tell you what, Charlie said, I will give you boys a few minutes to discuss this and then I will come back in and we can start this challenge. Charlie left the room, closing the door behind him. He walked to his room, and went over what he had just done in his mind. Was it too much for boys with such little experience being tied up? He remembered back to his early days with is friends and realized that no one went easy on him. Maybe it is normal at the beginning, but Charlie wasn't fully convinced he shouldn't have done it a little less difficult. He waited a few minutes and went back into the spare room. So, Charlie said, what have you boys decided? Is an hour too long for this, Danny asked? No, Charlie said, not really, but that should be the longest for any challenge. So, he said, you both agree on an hour? Both boys said yes. Now, Charlie said, you boys aren't going to make a lot of noise are you? Both boys looked at each other with wide eyes. What do you mean, Danny said? Can't have you shouting for help if someone stops over, Charlie said, how am I supposed to reply to that? So what are you saying, Larry asked somewhat excitedly? Perhaps I should make sure you don't go yelling for help, Charlie said, you know, shut you up.
You want to gag us, Danny asked? Not if you can keep quiet I don't, Charlie replied. I would rather you guys be able to let me know if you need help, but I don't want you waking up the neighbors screaming. We can be quiet, Danny said. Okay, Charlie said, I will trust you, but if you let me down, you know what is going to happen. Okay, Danny said, we won't let you down.
Okay then boys, I will be back up in fifteen minutes to see how you are doing, and then every fifteen minutes after, until an hour has passed or you escape. First one to escape does the tying for the next challenge. Okay, Larry said, so if I get out, I get to tie Danny and you? Danny yes, Charlie said, me no. I am not up to be included in these challenges, I just wanted to give you guys a good start, and teach you some safety rules. What if we don't get out, Danny asked? Simple, Charlie said, I get to gag you both and go out for the afternoon. He burst out laughing and then said, untie you boys, after the hour you get untied, no games on that. Both seemed to give a sigh of relief and smiled. See you boys in fifteen, Charlie said as he closed the door to the room.
Charlie headed to the stairs, then changed his mind and slowly tip toed back toward the door of the spare bedroom. He strained his ears hoping to hear any conversation the boys might have over their current predicament. He listened trying to make sure not to make any noise that the boys might notice. Danny and Larry were still feeling about the rope that held them to the chairs. This is pretty snug, Larry said to Danny, how about you? Same, he said, I didn't think it would feel like this? How did you think it would feel, Larry asked? I don't know, Danny replied, I just thought he would have left some sort of slack somewhere. I don't feel any slack at all, Larry said, so your dad is very good at this. Yes, Danny agreed, but I wonder how it is possible to actually get out of this. Don't you think that is part of the challenge, Larry said, you sound like you are giving up. Oh I am not giving up, Danny said with renewed vigor, but I just wish I had a better idea how to begin to find the way out. I guess talking about it is just wasting time, Danny said, if you think of something let me know. Same here, Larry said, there has to be a way to get of these things.
Charlie had heard enough for now and snuck to the stairs. He would return in ten minutes to see if they progressed. Did I make this too difficult, he said to himself again? Should I have left more slack? He knew he didn't tie them up as tightly as he could have, but he guessed the boys felt it was more than they were up for. But, they are already rigged and I can't just go up and loosen it for them now. What kind of hint could I leave to help them figure out how to find their way out? As Charlie went over these questions in his head, the door bell rang. Charlie made his way to the door to see who it was. He opened the door to see the postman standing there. Good afternoon George, Charlie said to his postman, what are you bringing me today? From the looks of this package, George said, I am guessing someone has a birthday coming up. Yeah, Charlie replied, Danny turns sixteen next week. Well, this is for him, George continued, is he home? He is, Charlie said, but he and his friend are very attached to what they are working on at the moment and won't be happy if I interrupt them. Can I take the package, or do you need me to pry him away from his friend? No, George said, you can have it, I was just hoping to see the boy so I could wish him a happy birthday. I am sure we will see you around before then, Charlie said, but I will tell him you were looking for him. Thanks Charlie, George said, see you around. See you later, Charlie said and he closed the door. He placed the package on the coffee table and looked at his watch. It was time to check in on the boys.
Charlie climbed up the steps and opened the door to the room. How are you two fairing out? Fine, Danny said rather quickly. Okay, Larry replied. You really need to tell me how you are able to tie us up so well. Years of experience playing these games you know. He sat on the side of the bed, and started to speak. You know boys, I wasn't that good when I first started playing these games. In fact, I was pretty terrible. I can't imagine that, Larry said, you must have been better than you are letting on. Look at how we are still exactly where you left us. Keep in mind, Charlie said, I ended up being tied up more than I tied the others up. Does that mean you lost a lot, Danny asked? At the beginning, Charlie said, but also because by the time I figured out what to do to escape with a regular frequency, the others either didn't want to play anymore, or be tied up themselves. But how did you figure it out, Danny asked? Trial and error, Charlie said, I just kept trying to find a way, whether turning, twisting, or rocking anything I could to try to find some slack. You have to move your wrists and body and see if you can find where there might be a weak area in the roping. Even if you don't, you can't give up. So you just kept trying then, Larry said. Mostly, Charlie replied, that and how to control my body to make things move for me. Like what, Danny asked? Well, Charlie said, that is something you need to find for yourself. What works for me, may not work for anyone else. But I imagine most ways have similar traits, just depends on what the person is capable of doing. So, before I leave again, is anyone having any issues?
Both boys said they were fine, and had no problems for the moment. Then I will be back again in a little while. Enjoy your struggles, he said as he exited the room and again closed the door behind him. This time he headed directly downstairs.
Charlie wondered if he said anything to the boys that would actually help them. He wasn't discouraging, but at the same time, he would hate the boys to give up before they got to experience the thrill of beating it. They would truly love the boost that comes with beating a difficult challenge. Maybe they need something they can see or envision to work toward. But what would be the best motivation? Charlie was brought back to the present by the sound of his cell phone ringing. Hello, Charlie answered. Hey Charlie, it's Hank. Hey Hank, what's up? Do you need Larry for something? No, Hank said, I am not checking up on him, but I had a question about what you had planned for this evening. I really don't have anything planned, Charlie replied, other than making sure the boys stay out of trouble. You would have to have them bound and gagged, Hank laughed, to carry that one off. Not true and you know it, Charlie replied, we are lucky to have two good kids. True, Hank said, but there are times I need to redirect his energies and focus. Yes, Charlie said, me too, but that is part of being dad. Yep, Hank agreed, but let me get to the reason I am calling. We haven't had a guys night in a while and wondered if you were up to it tonight? You have anything in mind, Charlie asked, I don't really want to leave Danny on his own this evening. I think Larry was wondering if Danny would want to stay over our house tonight for a gaming night. Do you know if he asked Danny about that yet? I haven't heard anything yet, Charlie said, but I would be okay with it should they want to do that. Well, if they end up at my house, Hank said, what about us hanging out and just relaxing for a change? Sounds good, Charlie said, but only if the boys are at your house. Very well, Hank replied, I will call that a tentative yes. Let me know if anything comes up though. I will, Charlie said, maybe I will see you later. Okay, Hank said, talk to you soon. Charlie hung up and looked at his watch. Time to go check on the boys again.
As Charlie climbed the steps again, he could hear the sound of the chairs creaking. That meant that the boys must be trying in earnest to escape their situation. He opened the door and walked in. How are you two doing now? Okay, Danny said a little pained. How about you Larry, Charlie asked? Starting to get a little sore, Larry said. Do you want me to let you out, Charlie asked? No, Larry said, I will make it for the hour. Well, Charlie said, next time I come in it will be over with. But I thought for sure one of you two would have found your way out by now. See you in a little bit, he said on his way out of the room. Charlie closed the door and went back downstairs. He sat on the recliner in the living room almost beside himself. I need to have one of these two escape the next one for sure, he thought, they need to experience success. What do I do next? He laid back on the recliner hoping to have some kind of revelation, but was coming up blank.
Time seemed to drag, this last five minutes was going to take forever, or at least that is how it felt. He remembered how his first experiences with these challenges used to bring his self esteem down, especially since he wasn't able to escape from anything at first. It wasn't until the guys decided to leave him tied up and gagged somewhere on his own, with no intention of letting him go until they returned later that night. He would miss the chance to attend one of the best parties of the summer that night. But there he was, bound and gagged in the back of his dad's garage while his parents were away for the weekend. He remembered worrying that his parents would find him there when they got home the next night. He couldn't let that happen. That is when he truly began doing everything he could to escape his situation. He realized he had to do something to make slack. So instead of struggling, he just relaxed his entire body trying to make something move. Eventually, he did relax and once he had, found the ropes were looser. So he did everything he could to try to move the rope without tensing his body and making the rope tighter. He finally managed to get hold of a knot and after a while got it untied. Once the rope eased up from the knot being undone, he was able to move more and eventually pick his way out of it. Finally, he managed to free himself. He remembers looking at the clock and figuring out how long it took him to get out. It didn't happen fast, but from that point on, he figured out how to not only work his way out quicker, but also make sure to make his body larger when they were tying him. He wondered why he continued to play these games, but as he got better at it, he got more excited by the escape. He would get a rush that made him feel so happy, almost giddy when he would succeed. He liked that feeling, and to his dismay, craved it even though he was no longer a boy.
Now here he is, father of a son that wants to experience this same feeling, but not really having any success with it so far. Perhaps, his son truly liked the feeling of being tied, rather than crave the escape. But now he isn't sure what Danny's motivation truly is, or if Danny even knows for sure what he wants. He knew though, that he had to try to stay out of these challenges, and let the boys find their own way. If they get bored of it, or decide it isn't what they want to do, then at least it won't be because of him. He hoped both boys would find success in their attempts in order to feel that joy that comes with it. But it needs to be their doing. Charlie looked at the clock and realized he was now a few minutes late getting upstairs. Charlie was about to open the door, when Danny opened it right before he got there. You made it out I see, Charlie said as his face lit up with relief and pride at the same time. No thanks to you, Danny said, did you forget us? No, he replied, I got lost in thought and lost track of time. I should have set an alarm. Well, no harm I guess, Danny said, I did finally manage to find my way out. Did you untie Larry, Charlie asked? Not yet, Danny said, I told him I would as soon as I found out where you got to. Let's get him untied before we continue this conversation shall we, Charlie said. Yeah, Danny agreed, I am sure he is ready.
It didn't take long for the two of them to get Larry untied from his chair. That was crazy, Larry said, I didn't think that chair seat would start to feel so hard after a while. So, Larry said, looks like you won again. No, Charlie replied, Danny got out, so he won. Nope, Larry said, he didn't get out until after the hour was up, so we still both lost. Are you sure he wasn't out within the hour, Charlie asked? Absolutely, Larry said, he was at least two minutes past the time we needed to escape by. I see, Charlie said, but since I didn't make it into the room prior to him escaping, it should count as a successful escape. What do you think Danny, Charlie asked? I might have been passed the hour, he replied, so Larry may be right and I lost the challenge as well. But you did get out on your own in the end, Charlie replied, so at least you managed to get out before I came back. I did, Danny said, didn't I. Yes, Larry said, you did, and you are going to have to tell me what you did to find your way out. Maybe once I figure that out for sure, Danny said. Right now I am not sure what the key was to escaping.
So, you boys ready to take a break, or is this enough challenge for today? I think I am good for today, Danny said, how about you, he asked Larry. I think that kind of challenge is enough for one day. Larry agreed. Thanks dad, Danny said, for setting up this challenge today. You're welcome, Charlie replied, I think. Not everyone gets a thank you for tying someone up. Not just the set up, Danny said, but watching over us as we try to work this out. Yeah, Larry said, it is cool you try to help us so we don't get hurt and try to help us figure it out. So you guys aren't disappointed so far, Charlie asked? No, Danny said, it is kind of fun. What do you think Larry? Not fun as in wonderful to be tied up so well, Larry said, but fun like trying to solve a puzzle. Well, Charlie said, when it stops being fun, you need to stop. Fair enough, Danny said, but I still think I can beat this before time is up. Now that you have had some success, Charlie replied, I hope it gets easier for you. The boys cleaned up the rope and set the room back in order before going down to the living room to play a game. Charlie went to his room to relax for a little while.
Charlie had only just settled into the recliner, when he heard someone coming down the steps. Hey dad, Danny said, do you think it would be okay for me to spend the night over at Larry's house? Tonight, Charlie asked? Yeah, Danny replied, tonight. I know it is short notice, he continued, but I got so wrapped up in the challenge, I kept forgetting to ask. What time will you be coming home tomorrow, or do I have to pick you up? I think I would rather you pick me up, than have one of Larry's parents have to drive me home. What time should I be coming over to get you, Charlie asked? I would imagine by ten, Danny said, but I can call you when I know for sure when the best time would be. That sounds fair, Charlie said. What have you guys got planned? Video games for the most part, Danny replied, maybe a movie or something. I just wondered, Charlie said, didn't know if you had something definite in mind. Did you want to do something tonight instead, Danny asked? I didn't have anything in mind. Thought we could have a nice quiet night at home, Charlie replied, so no not really. Well, if you are sure, Danny said. I am sure, Charlie replied, go have fun with Larry. Thanks dad, Danny said as he ran back upstairs.
Charlie picked up the phone and dialed Hank. The phone rang about three times before he picked up. Well, Hank said, guess you are available tonight then? Yes sir, Charlie said, you said a night just relaxing right? Yep, Hank said, find something on TV or something, even just catch up if you want. Sounds good, Charlie said, see you later then. See you later, Hank said, probably by seven at the latest. Great, Charlie replied, see you then.

Part 8 - Adults turn!
Charlie dropped the boys off at Larry's house and headed back home. He stopped at a convenience store to pick up some snack items and drinks. Once he was back at the house, Charlie figured he has time to relax and put his feet up for a while. He turned on the television and settled in. Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep and woken up by the door bell ringing. He got up quick and made his way to the door, wiping his eyes as he did. Caught you napping did I, Hank said as he made his way in the door. I guess so, Charlie replied, didn't even realize I was tired at all. Look what I brought, Hank said, holding up a pizza box. I didn't realize you were picking up pizza, Charlie replied, do you want me to go half with you on it? No way, Hank replied, I am betting you picked up a bunch of snacks on the way home. I did, Charlie said, you know me well. More than you know there buddy boy, Hank said.
Buddy boy, Charlie said, that is the name you usually call me when you are looking to play one of our challenges. Tell me you aren't looking for one about now, Hank said, I know what you picked up at the store today. You updating your equipment are you? In a way, Charlie replied as if looking to change the subject. I got the hint when you said you had some loose ends to tie up, Hank said, that was always our cue. I forgot about that, Charlie said, it really is just an expression. Tell me you aren't looking for a little fun this evening, Hank said, I even brought my own tool bag if we need. I am starting to think that you are looking for this challenge more than me, Charlie replied. You know me, Hank said, always ready to give you a run for your money. But hey, Hank continued, if you don't want to do any challenges, I am fine with that too. Wouldn't want you to feel like you had to do it. We can have a round a little later if you want, Charlie said, but I hadn't really thought about it much lately.
So why did you buy all that rope and tape this morning, Hank asked, if it wasn't all for you. What do you mean, Charlie asked a little nervously. It's for your kid isn't it, Hank said, the kid becoming a chip off the old block is he? Danny has other things on his mind I am sure, Charlie said, but I did need some rope and tape to do stuff around here. You just happen to buy the escape challenge type of rope for what actually, Hank asked? The rope is for me, Charlie said, I didn't have any left, and the tape I need for fixing the grill cover and a few other projects. So you are looking for a challenge then, Hank asked. By now, Charlie had enough of this conversation already. He figured he might as well let Hank tie him now so they could move on to other things.
So, Charlie asked, any idea what kind of challenge you want to rig me into this time? I knew it, Hank said, tell me I don't know what I am talking about. You have me, Charlie said, just couldn't hide it I guess. Well, buddy boy, I think we should start with a nice sturdy chair. But, Hank said, not the way you are dressed. What is wrong with what I am wearing, Charlie asked? You know how this works, tee shirt and shorts only, Hank said, can't have you hiding any sharp objects in your pockets or anything. Fine, Charlie said, I will be right back.
Charlie headed upstairs and stopping into the bathroom on his way, before going in his room and pulling out his own running shorts and a tee shirt. He looked at himself in the mirror. He still looked good for a guy nearly forty, but could still see signs of the younger boy that used to stare back at him. His hair was still light brown, not gray anywhere yet, eyes a bright hazel, and he still had good muscle tone, thanks to daily exercise and an occasional run with Danny. At 6 foot tall, he did still present himself well. If it wasn't that I promised Danny that I wouldn't tell anyone, he thought, I might not be letting this happen tonight. But can't have Hank thinking that Danny was playing these challenges. After all, for all he knew, they only just started trying this out. But he did wonder how much experience Larry may actually have. Not only was Larry a scout, but so was his dad, and Hank had no problem using his knot tying skills to try to keep Charlie busy struggling to escape. I swear his real interest is in keeping someone tied, rather than playing a game. How much does Larry know about his dad's skills and past? Regardless, Charlie knew he better get downstairs soon, or Hank would think he wasn't up for this.
About time you find your way back down here, Hank said, standing next to an open gym back loaded with rope and other supplies. You sure you got enough in there to hold me do you, Charlie teased. If that is a challenge, Hank said, you are in for a long night. You know the rules, Charlie said, you can't leave me tied up here and no longer than two hours total. I know, Hank said, I haven't forgotten it. But we could make this more interesting. Interesting how, Charlie asked? Could have a little wager on the outcome perhaps, Hank said, you up for it? I haven't been tied up since the last time Danny went to see his mom, and that was over the Christmas holiday. Yeah, Hank said, I remember that, you looked so fun in your Santa shorts and tee shirt. You tied me up and put me in the fireplace, Charlie said somewhat annoyed. You lost that bet and had to do it, Hank said, all in fun. I still want those pictures destroyed, Charlie said, what happens if your wife or kids see them? They are safe from prying eyes, Hank said, I just like reliving the victories. Do you still have all those Polaroids that you took of me in similar situations when we were younger, Charlie asked sheepishly? Yep, Hank said, but don't worry, they will go to my grave with me. They better, Charlie said. You sure you don't want me to bring them over to go down memory lane, Hank teased? That might be interesting to look at one day, Charlie replied, but we would need a lot of time. I am sure when the kids are grown and moved on, Hank said, we will have all the time in the world. But now, let's get down to business here.
Charlie sat down in the chair Hank had pulled out for him, and Hank went to work. Hank had Charlie's hands tied behind the chair and his upper body wrapped multiple times to the chair back, before a few minutes were over. You sure don't waste any time, Charlie said, do you practice this? Wouldn't you like to know, Hank said, as he started the next coil of rope and tied Charlie's ankles and legs to the chair legs. How am I doing so far, Hank asked? Are you done, Charlie asked? Oh no way, Hank laughed, I am going to use up every coil in this bag to make sure you don't go anywhere. Seriously, Charlie said, there must be over three hundred in that bag. Three hundred and twenty five, Hank replied, and duct tape. You aren't duct taping me, Charlie said. We'll see, Hank teased, but feel free to stop me if you want. You son of a, but Charlie couldn't finish the line as Hank had just stuffed a rolled up sock into his mouth and was using a bandanna to tie around his head to hold it in place. That will keep you quiet, Hank said, can't have you interrupting me with your talking. Charlie protested, but nothing came out that was able to be understood.
Hank continued with the next coils of rope, making sure to go around and through every area of arm or leg that he could use to attach to the chair. Finally, when the bag was empty, and Hank had tied the last of what seemed like one hundred knots, Hank grabbed one of the duct tape rolls. Sorry old buddy, Hank said, gotta make sure you stay quiet. He pulled at the end of the duct tape roll and started to peel about a foot of tape away from the roll. He started to apply the tape from below Charlie's left ear, over his mouth and under the right ear, making sure to smooth it over with his free hand as he did. He made two complete wraps around Charlie's head before finally ripping the end and pasting it down on the back of his neck. Hank walked in front of Charlie to admire his handiwork and pulled out his cell phone. Picture time, he pronounced, as he started to take photo's with his phone. Smile, Hank said. Charlie just sat there and shook his head. This was more than he bargained for.
Okay buddy boy, Hank said, I'll just go over here and put something good on the television while you make your attempt. It's just after seven thirty, he said, so you have until nine thirty to find your way out of this. Just let me know if you want to be untied, just say the word! Hank snickered as he headed to one of the recliners and put his feet up. The channel changed, but Charlie was no longer paying attention to the television.
Charlie tested the roping he was now in. It was snug, sound, and he couldn't move anything. The sock in his mouth was already starting to make his mouth feel dry, but at least he used a clean sock, Charlie thought. He made a couple of attempts to wiggle and move, but he was one with the chair. Hank must have been planning this one for a long time, Charlie figured, as he pulled out all the stops this time. Hank even managed to tie his fingers to the chair post. There was just no room to move anything. It's going to be a long two hours, he thought, but at least he isn't grilling me anymore about the rope I bought earlier. Charlie sat still trying to use his whole body to sense how well he was tied, and if there was anything to work with to get some wiggle room. Hank got up from the recliner to walk out to the kitchen for a drink. On his way, he looked over Charlie, grinned, and continued to the kitchen. Gloating is not his best look, Charlie thought, and he knew he needed to find his way out. But how? He heard Hank coming back into the room and waited until he sat himself back down in the recliner before trying anything.
Charlie got a little more forceful with his struggling and ended up rocking the entire chair. He wasn't expecting that it would be so tight. He has to have overlooked something, Charlie thought, and I have to find it. He kept testing and struggling on and off for a while, and was still not having any luck. Not only was it taking a toll on his muscles, but it was getting warm. He used so much rope to tie me, that I am starting to sweat. Hank walked over after an hour had passed to look over his captive. He checked to make sure there were no blood flow issues or anything else that might put Charlie at risk. You don't look like you even trying there bud, Hank said, if you don't try, I might think you want to stay that way. Whatever you want, Hank said, as he walked back to the recliner. I could leave you this way, if you want.
Leave me this way, Charlie heard over and over in his brain. He can't leave me tied up like this. Danny can't find me in this situation. I need to find the key, he thought. Charlie resumed his struggling in earnest. He had no option but to escape. He thought back to earlier times when it seemed hopeless, but was able to figure it out. What did I do then, he asked himself? He relaxed every muscle in his body and tried to shrink himself to as small as possible, pushing every ounce of air out of his lungs. Slack, he felt, not much, but he grabbed for it before breathing in again. He did the same thing multiple times and was able to finally reach a knot, that seemed to be at the end of a rope length. He worked on trying to untie the knot, picking at it as much as he could. When the knot finally started to give in to his attempts, he managed to get it untied and pull at his ropes to see if anything moved. To his surprise, his wrists were the benefactors of the knot he undid, but they weren't yet free. He continued to follow the rope ends and unwind what he could threading them from under the other ropes that covered them. He finally managed to reach another knot and get that untied as well. His left wrist was now out of those ropes, but his arms were held in place by the other ropes. He had to find a way to work his arm loose.
Hank looked over to see how his captive was fairing and back at the TV. If he noticed anything, he didn't show it, or ignored it. Charlie was now moving as the chair tipped side to side with his struggling. His grasping at anything his left hand could get a hold of eventually worked and he managed to undo a few more knots. The ropes around his arms started to loosen and he stretched and struggled anyway possible until he finally got his left arm free. Success! Now he had to find his way out of the rest. With his arm free, he was able to get to other areas to start untying himself from the chair. After what seemed like an eternity, he was finally able to get his right arm free and start removing the rest of the rope around him. He finally got rid of the ropes on his upper body and was now bent over untying his ankles and legs. At last he was finally able to stand and extract his legs from the chair, and walk away from it. He had just started to make his way to the other recliner, when Hank's phone chirped. Looks like you lose, Hank said as he turned to face the chair he thought Charlie was still tied to. Whoa!, Hank said, I didn't realize you got out? How long have you been standing there? About a minute or two, Charlie said exhausted. Sit down, have some pizza, Hank said, I will get you something to drink. Water, Charlie said, lots of water.
It took some time for Charlie's body to feel normal again, but once he relaxed he looked over at Hank. Your turn, Charlie said to Hank. No, Hank said, not me, this is a you thing, I just do the tying. You like to do the tying, Charlie said, but the last time we had a challenge session you promised that if I got out of the next one, I could tie you up. I don't remember that, Hank said scratching his head. No, Hank said, I am sure I didn't say that. Hold on, Charlie said, as he searched through his cell phone. He pulled up a video taken at Christmas time. There stood Hank, who had obviously had a drink or two, telling Charlie that if he got out of the next challenge, you can tie me up.
I was drinking, Hank said, you can't hold me to that. Oh, Charlie replied, I believe I can, unless you want me to show this to your wife. No, Hank said, she won't be happy about it. You getting tied up, or drinking, Charlie asked? Both, he replied, but I guess I deserve it. Good, Charlie said, get yourself ready, I will be ready to set you up in a few minutes. Charlie went out into the kitchen and Hank stood there looking perplexed. He didn't want Charlie to tie him up, he wasn't able to get out like his friend was.

Perhaps Danny or Larry would be happy to take Hank's place! Thay aren't wimps like Hank seems to be. Was the name Hank chosen deliberately as in tying someone up with a HANK of rope! Enquiring minds want to know!
Danny and Larry have been left alone for way to long perhaps the author should check up on them and report their behavior back to us?

Part 9
Charlie returned from the kitchen and said to Hank, you know the rules, tee shirt and shorts. I don't have any shorts with me, Hank said. Guess you are down to your underwear then, Charlie laughed. Oh come on, Hank said, you seriously don't want to tie me up in my underwear do you? Hank just shook his head at the thought of being tied up in just his underwear. At thirty-nine years old, with black hair and green eyes, the 5 foot 11 inch tall heavily muscled 180 lb hardware store owner didn't think he would deserve that humiliation. Alright, Charlie said, I have something you can use. Charlie went upstairs and returned shortly with a pair of fleece shorts and a fresh tee shirt. You can change in the powder room, Charlie said, and Hank headed off to change.
Charlie got the ropes he wanted to use from the ones Hank had used to tie him. He would only need a hundred foot total he figured, but maybe he would add extra to make him sweat a little. Hank returned and asked where Charlie wanted him to sit. Oh no, Charlie said, not here, let's go to the cellar. I really want you to enjoy your time here. No, not the cellar, Hank said, you want to tie me to that post again. Maybe, Charlie said, but I might just have something else in mind for you. What are you up to, Hank asked, getting even with me? Just a little fun, Charlie said, now let's head to the cellar shall we?
They opened the door from the kitchen and headed down the wooden steps. Charlie carrying the bag Hank brought with him. They got down and moved into the area directly to the left of the stairs. Charlie told him to stop where he was. He was right next to one of the posts that supported the steps and the floor above. I knew it, you are going to strap me to this pole. Not like you think, Charlie said, I have had a lot of time to think this one through my friend, so be ready to spend some time here. Charlie moved over an older metal kitchen chair and set it against the post. Please, he said to Hank, have a seat. This concrete floor is cold on the feet, Hank said, don't you have a mat or something? I might be able to find a towel for you or something, but first things first. He motioned for Hank to sit in the chair. Hank did as he was instructed. Hands in front of you, Charlie said, I know I have to give you a fighting chance, Hank placed his wrists together in front of him and Charlie used a mid sized length of rope to tie them together, but crossed at the wrists. He made sure to leave at least five foot of rope after the last knot at Hank's wrists and brought his tied wrists over his head and tied them to the post above the chair. That's not fair, Hank said. Oh, it's fair, Charlie replied as he stuffed a rolled up sock into Hank's mouth. Time to quiet the prisoner, Charlie said. It's much more fun to be on this side of the gag, Charlie said. Charlie used the duct tape Hank brought to keep the sock in Hank's mouth by wrapping it around his head at least four times. Go on, Charlie said, scream your head off now. No one is going to hear you, let alone find you in my cellar. Charlie used the rest of the ropes he picked out to tie Hanks upper body to the chair back and the post. Then he tied Hank's bare feet together and used the rope to pull his bound ankles under the chair and near the post. He tied off the ankle rope at the base of the post. A few more ropes to tether Hanks arms to the post, and he was done. How is that, Charlie asked?
Hank made some muffled noises, but nothing anyone could hear or understand. You should be good here for a while, Charlie said. Since it wouldn't be fair to leave you this way for two hours, thirty minutes should be enough. You good with that? Hank nodded his head. Now, are your feet still cold, Charlie asked, I might have some heat source to help warm them up. Hank shook his head no quite emphatically. Okay, Charlie said, guess I will see you when you come upstairs. Yell if you need anything! Charlie went up the steps and turned out the lights for the cellar. He laughed for a second and then turned them back on again, before going to the living room.
While Charlie settled into the recliner, Hank wondered just how much time was left. He knew that Charlie only left a few minutes ago, but also knew he wasn't getting out of this situation. Hank knew he deserved this and in some way and liked the way Charlie had not only tied him, but the way he talked to him while he did it. He really is capable of giving someone the idea of being helpless. If only he could move around a little. There was no real slack anywhere, and definitely no knots in reach anywhere. He laughed at being in this position. How many times have I left Charlie in worse situations? This was just a game, but at the same time, he truly liked to be on the other side of this game. There was some kind of excitement in having Charlie helpless and tied, even though he knew he would almost always find his way out. He started to think back to past situations he left Charlie tied up in. It was at this time especially, he was reminded of having Charlie tied up in his own cellar as a kid. No one at the party he was having even missed Charlie while he was bound and gagged in the cellar. Charlie on the other hand was strictly bound and gagged to a metal chair and able to hear the crowd upstairs enjoying themselves. Hank had every intention of releasing him after an hour, but it wasn't until his last guest left, that he realized he forgot Charlie. Charlie was so mad when he went down to release him, and once seeing Hank heading his way, made his feelings known. Good thing the gag was very effective, he remembered. Once he released Charlie, he vowed revenge. Charlie left that night vowing never to return, he knew he had gone too far.
Now, here he was over twenty some years later, tied up in Charlie's cellar, just as helpless as Charlie must have been. It took months for Hank to finally get Charlie to forgive him for that night, but could any of that be the reason he was tied where he was now? He thought of so many other times he tied up Charlie afterwards and made sure never to give him reason not to trust him. Truth is, Charlie was the only friend he had left from his younger days, and he truly cared about him. Yes, he liked tying him up, but he wouldn't do it if Charlie didn't want him to. Right? Hank was brought out of his thoughts by his arms complaining about being tied up above his head. He was starting to get sore, but how much time did he have left? He had tried moving again and feeling for any slack or knots, but there was none. He let out a grunt of frustration and a little nervousness.
Charlie had been watching the clock. He would be heading down to free Hank soon, and was anxious to set him free. He must be starting to ache by now, Charlie thought, and he really didn't want to cause his friend any pain. As he stood up to walk to the cellar, his cell phone rang. Dad, he heard Danny say over the phone, I forgot my toothbrush. You did, Charlie answered him, did you want me to bring it to you? Yes, he replied, unless Mr. Keagan was still there, maybe he could bring it home? Yes, Hank is still here, Charlie said, I will ask him to give it to you when he goes home. Are you guys having fun, Danny asked. Yes, Charlie said, reliving some of our past escapades at the moment. Good, Danny replied, have fun and thanks for sending my toothbrush. No problem, Charlie replied, you and Larry have fun too. We are, Danny said, goodnight. Goodnight, Charlie replied, see you tomorrow.
Once he hung up the phone, Charlie headed to the cellar. As he descended the steps, he thought he heard Hank making some not so pleasant sounds through his gag. How are we doing here, Charlie said as he approached Hank. Hank offered up a few muffled grunts of discontent. Are you ready to be untied, Charlie asked? Hank nodded that he was. Okay then, Charlie said, let's get you out of this. He began by untying the ropes for Hank's arms and then freeing the wrists from being held over his head. He continued untying Hank's lower body, before untying his wrists. Charlie did not remove the gag. You are going to have to take off the gag yourself, Charlie said, I don't want to be responsible for pulling the tape off too fast or anything. Hank found the end of the tape and started to unwind it from his head. Once he finally got it off and spit out the sock, he took a deep breath. How do you feel, Charlie asked him. A little sore and a little embarrassed. Why embarrassed, Charlie asked? Because this brought back memories of my leaving you tied up in my parents cellar all those years ago. You were true to your word about letting me go in thirty minutes, but you would have had reason to leave me down here. Oh, Charlie said, that wasn't why I wanted to tie you up down here, I wanted to try out this situation to see how difficult it would be to tie and what the effect would be on the person tied. Come on upstairs and tell me how your body reacted to this.
They went upstairs and stopped for drinks in the kitchen before heading to the living room. How are your arms, Charlie asked. Still a little sore and almost rubbery in a way, Hank replied. Didn't expect the rubbery part, Charlie said, I hope you aren't mad. No, Hank said, if anyone deserved that rigging, it was me. I should have had that coming years ago. I purposely didn't do it years ago, Charlie admitted, because I was afraid I would leave you helpless down there. I am over that night, he continued, but there was a long time I dreamed about having you prisoner down there and not for just thirty minutes. So you did harbor a grudge then, Hank said. No, Charlie replied, resentment is what I had to deal with. But I knew you hadn't intended to leave me there that long. I didn't, Hank replied, I still have remorse for that incident. Well, don't worry about that anymore, Charlie said, it is in the past. So, Hank asked, did you really want me to tie you up tonight or did you let me tie you for another reason?
Oh, Charlie said, probably a little of both, but I don't want to discuss it now. Is there something I should know, Hank asked? No, Charlie replied, nothing that affects you. Will we ever discuss what is on your mind, Hank asked? Maybe the next time I get you tied up and gagged, Charlie said, I like a captive audience. Well you know I do, Hank said, there is something about challenging you to these little tie ups. Little, Charlie said? You used hundreds of feet of rope on me this evening. Hank couldn't help but laugh, I guess I did, But you always manage to find a way out. Not every time, Charlie said, there were a couple of times I was stuck and you liked to gloat over them. It doesn't happen often enough that I get the upper hand, Hank said, so I have to enjoy it. How about we finish up watching the television before we call it a night, Charlie said, this conversation is getting old.
Also, Danny called, he forgot his toothbrush if you wouldn't mind taking it home for him. No problem, Hank said. They watched the TV and discussed other things for another hour or so before Hank left to go home. We need to do this again sometime soon, Hank said, before another six months has passed. We should, Charlie agreed as Hank climbed into his truck. Goodnight, Charlie said, make sure Danny gets his toothbrush. Goodnight, Hank replied as he pulled away from the house.
Charlie went through the house cleaning up from their night. He locked the door and headed upstairs. If only Danny could have seen what I managed to get out of tonight.

I like how this story is developing. How the characters share their feelings, and how they value the friendship selflessly. I hope there were more TUG's challenges for the 4 of them.

Part 10
Charlie woke up around around eight o'clock. Wow, must really have been tired he thought to himself. As he stood up to get ready to take a shower, he felt his muscles start to complain. Okay, Charlie thought, guess I am not as young as I used to be. Regardless, a hot shower should be just the thing. He proceeded into the bathroom and went through his daily routine. The shower felt wonderful, and it did help relieve most of the complaining. He headed downstairs to make some breakfast and bring in the paper.
He retrieved the paper first and headed for the kitchen. No Danny this morning, he thought, might as well just have some cereal. He got a bowl, spoon, and box of cereal and placed them on the counter. He started his coffee maker and headed to the table. He poured his cereal, and opened his paper. Didn't notice anything unusual in the headlines, and looked through to see what was going on, or happened. He went through the ads in the back of the paper, thinking he should consider buying a second car so Danny would have something to go back and forth to work with once he had his license. No rush, he thought, but let's see what the pricing is going to be like. He spent some time looking at used car ads and some of the personal ads. He had just found an ad for a vehicle that he thought might be of interest, when he heard the front door open.
I'm home, Danny yelled as he came in the door. In the kitchen, Charlie replied. Danny came into the kitchen and asked how he was doing. Good, Charlie replied, and you? Fine, Danny replied, but something in his voice, peaked Charlie's interest. Did something happen last night, he asked? Like what, Danny replied quickly? I don't know, Charlie replied, you seem to have something on your mind, but are afraid to say it. I don't know if I want to say anything now, Danny said, but did you have a good time with Mr Keagan last night? We enjoyed ourselves, Charlie replied, just the usual talk and relax night. How about you and Larry, he asked? It was fun, Danny replied, but we were up quite late last night. Did you get your run in this morning, Charlie asked? No, Danny said, I still have to do that, but a little tired. Want company on your run, Charlie asked? You want to run with me this morning, Danny asked? Sure, he replied, I am not that out of shape and we do this every so often. Sounds good, Danny said, I'll get changed and we can go then. Fine, Charlie said, I will get my running clothes on as well.
Charlie cleaned up the kitchen and headed upstairs to get changed. He went through his drawer and realized the pair of shorts he was looking for, he wore last night for the challenge. So he found another pair and headed downstairs. Danny was waiting for him and they headed out, locking the door behind them. They started off at a slower pace and went down the road a while. Danny started to pick up speed and Charlie followed close behind. Keep up dad, Danny yelled back. I am doing what I can, Charlie replied, and remained close behind Danny. After a while they turned around to start heading back. Danny still ahead of Charlie. At one point, Charlie realized he wouldn't be able to keep up the pace, so he slowed down and told Danny he would catch up. Danny slowed his pace and made sure that Charlie didn't get too far behind him. Not far from the house, Danny slowed to a walk and waited for Charlie. It wasn't too long before Charlie caught up to him. Something wrong, Charlie asked? No, Danny said, I am going to take it easy the rest of the way. Charlie was relieved and walked along with him.
They were silent for a while, but then Danny spoke up. Dad, Danny said, was Mr Keagan one of the friends that you played tie up challenge games with? Why do you ask, Charlie replied? Well, Danny replied a little sheepishly, Larry was showing me some stuff of his dads last night, and there was a box in there with them. I asked Larry what was in the box, and he said he didn't know. Did you open Hank's personal belongings, Charlie asked a little nervously? Well, Danny said, we weren't going to, but Larry said a little peek wouldn't hurt. So you opened the box, Charlie said, and what did you find? Old pictures, Danny said, of tied up guys. People you know, or like other pictures, Charlie asked tentatively? Pictures of you dad, Danny said, the guy looked like you, or at least most of the pictures did. So you and Larry looked through them then, Charlie said. Yes, Danny said, but afterwards I felt really weird. Weird how, Charlie asked. Why did he take pictures of you like that, Danny asked? I am not sure how that started, Charlie replied, but I thought it was to keep a record of what he had done to remember what worked better and what didn't. You got tied up a lot, Danny said, did you want that? Yes, he replied, I guess I did. Do you still let Mr Keagan tie you up, Danny asked? Yes, Charlie replied, but it only happens once or twice a year.
I don't remember you being tied up before, Danny said, was I around when you guys did this? No, Charlie said, I didn't want you to see me tied up, as I thought it might scare you. It really felt weird seeing those pictures though, Danny replied. Did he tie you up last night? You want to know if I got tied up last night, Charlie asked? Well, Danny replied, yes. What happens if I come home one day and find you that way, he continued, I don't want to get in the way, but I don't want you to get hurt. Now you know why I want to show you the correct way to do this, Charlie replied. You can't repair anything that happened in the past, he continued, and our challenges would not continue if I thought I would be hurt in the process. I never allowed challenges when you were around, and I still don't. But, would you do them more now that I know, Danny asked?
Danny, Charlie said, I am not as young as I used to be, but I am in good shape. Even if I wanted to do these challenges more, I don't have the time for them. Hank also has a business to run, and to be honest, I am not sure either of us are doing this other than to remember what it was like. So you don't like the challenges so much any more, Danny asked? I do enjoy them when I get the chance to have one, Charlie said, but it isn't something I look for all the time. Did you used to look for them more, Danny asked? Wow, Charlie said, you are sure interested in what I did and how I feel. Is there something on your mind driving all these questions? Like what, Danny replied? Do you like the challenges yourself Charlie asked, and are you questioning yourself why you enjoy it? Does Mr. Keagan blackmail you into it because he has those pictures, Danny blurted out? No, he replied, he does not. He would end up being the one who was looked at as more evil for tying me up in the first place, not to mention taking pictures of it. Is this evil, Danny asked? No, Charlie laughed, no one is getting hurt, and no one is doing it against their will. There is no crime if we are just playing a game. But, he continued, if he would one day tie me to the railroad tracks and leave me there to get run over, that would be a crime. Would he do that, Danny said questioning? No, Charlie laughed again, do you really think I would let him do that? I guess not, he replied, but there were some pretty nasty predicaments you were shown in those pictures. How often did he gag you, Danny continued? All these questions, Charlie said, Danny, its okay, I'm fine.
What is going on in that head of yours, Charlie asked Danny point blank. Okay, Danny replied, so some of those pictures scared me a little, and I don't know that I want to be tied up like that. You should never let anyone tie you up in a way you don't want, Charlie said, and some people will try to persuade you to even if you resist. Just stay true to yourself, and don't waver even if the other person clearly wants it. Did you ever let someone tie you up in a way you didn't want, Danny asked? Yes, he replied, I am afraid I did, but I managed to get through it, and they didn't let me get hurt. Which is why I am telling you not to let anyone talk you into anything you do not want to do. Okay, Danny said, I understand why you are telling me this. I have so many questions and doubts, he continued, I just want to know as much as possible so I don't get hurt, or abandoned or anything. Do you trust Larry, Charlie asked? I do, he replied, but he is really into this. Mostly the tying up part. Just like his dad I am afraid, Charlie replied. Mr, Keagan too, he replied? Yes, most definitely, Charlie said, but he still has to get tied up once in a while, especially if he loses the challenges. Who wins more, Danny asked? Me of course, Charlie said, and I still do.
They reached the house, and Danny went up for a shower. Charlie sat in the kitchen going over the conversation on their run. He knew he had to answer more of Danny's questions, and wondered the best way to help him to understand. He remembered how when he first started playing these games how he could think of nothing else. They consumed him, and his thoughts most of the time. He didn't want Danny to get too distracted with it, but knew there was going to be a lot to go through in the beginning. It was then he realized something he saw, but didn't pay attention to at first. Danny had a rope mark on his wrist. Were the boys playing tie up games last night? He knew they must have been, but did it get too heavy? He would have to find a way to ask Danny about it without making him nervous or upset. I wonder just how much Larry is into this and just how long he has been playing these games. Was he already playing with others, or is he seizing this opportunity with Danny to try things out? Does Hank know if Larry does this, or has he been teaching him as well? Still, the way Larry tied Danny up when he found them, was not up to Hank standards, but was it on purpose? Wow, too cloak and dagger to think this way, he said to himself they are just boys.
Danny came downstairs from his shower. He had on a tee shirt and shorts. Once Danny walked into the kitchen, he pulled out a chair and sat across from his father. He put both of his wrists on the table. Charlie looked up and saw Danny looking at his wrists. What are you looking at, he asked? Do these marks go away, Danny asked? Yes they do, Charlie said, but I am surprised you still have any. When did you get these? Last night, or rather early this morning I guess, Danny replied. You were playing games until early this morning, Charlie asked? More like, were playing last night, and we both fell asleep Danny replied. I woke up tied up and unable to move. What did you do, Charlie asked? I tried to wake Larry up, but he gagged me and it was hard to make much noise tied up the way I was. How were you tied up Danny, Charlie asked? He had my wrists and ankles tied to each of the bed posts, he replied. Spread eagle is what they call that, Charlie said, and that is not a challenge tie up. He said he was able to get out of that, Danny replied, and since it was late, I wanted to be tied up laying down. So you just about ask for it then, Charlie replied. Yes, I guess, Danny said. I'm just glad he woke up because I had to use the bathroom. Well, he replied, that is why gags shouldn't be used in those situations. So you have learned something already. How did he gag you, Charlie asked, if you couldn't wake him? Not as bad as it might sound, Danny replied, he knotted a bandanna in the middle, put the knot in my mouth and then tied it tightly behind my head. I could still breathe through it, but I didn't sound normal, and I didn't want his parents to hear me try to talk like that. Do your wrists hurt, Charlie asked? No, he said, I just want the marks to go away. Rub them a little and use some lotion, Charlie said. They should disappear soon.
Dad, Danny said, is it wrong that I would rather that you tie me up instead of Larry? Why would you want me to tie you, Charlie asked, Larry is your age, and the two of you can learn this together. Larry is okay, Danny said, and I don't think he will let me get hurt, but I want to be better at this before we keep doing this. You feel that you need to have more experience, Charlie asked? Yeah, Danny said, I want to have a fighting chance with these games. Is Larry that good at tying you up that you feel you aren't up to his level, Charlie asked? He is better than you think, Danny said, the way he tied me here, is different from the way he ties me up at his house. What is the difference, he asked? Larry is more confident at home and his ties are much stricter and involved than what we did here. It is like he has been practicing for a long time. Well, maybe in scouts, Charlie said, he and his scout friends play this game as well. Maybe, Danny said, but I thought he didn't have much experience with this. He must though. Well, Charlie replied, you two will have to work that out between you. Talk to him about it, he continued, because if you don't, you may lose a friend in the process. I don't want that, Danny said, but I do want to know more than I do now. Can't you help me please, he asked? Let me think about this more, Charlie replied, and we will talk about this more later. Okay, Danny said, a little dejected and walked into the living room.
Danny, Charlie said, do me a favor. What dad, he replied. Write down what you want from me and what you expect and let me look it over. I will give you an answer shortly after you give it to me. Okay, Danny said a little more excitedly and went to find paper and pen.

I've lurked on this site for a while and just created an account. I saw the new continuation just now and can't wait for another. Great story you've got going!

Thank you so much! I am glad you are enjoying it. It has been a lot of fun to write, and there is more to come. Just might take a little longer between chapters.
Thanks again!

Yes, and it appears like there is more than one that follows....
