Hi. I’m new to this site and the world of tugs so I wanted to ask a question to break the ice and meet other users.

I was wondering what any of your preferences or tastes when it comes to tugs in stories, shows, movies, etc. Some things like this-

1. Male or female captor/captive
2. Binding materials
3. Premise or story (general plot)
4. Theme (comedy, thriller, horror, etc.)
5. Look of the captor/captive

Those are some basic things I could think of. If you take the time the time to respond I’d like to say thanks. It’s great to be hear and read great stories/interact with awesome people.

Welcome aboard, @Tetrahedron7Z. You’ll absolutely find some really interesting and amazing folks on this forum!

Very interesting icebreaker! I can’t say I’ve every really given the topic a lot of thought, but here’s my preferences:

1. Male or female captor/captive: Generally, I prefer both to be female.

2. Binding materials: Leather is always my first choice, though it’s rarely used outside of bondage-specific scenarios. Second would be chains and handcuffs (the more chains, the better). While I don’t personally use rope, I absolutely love a good scene with tight and/or intricate rope work. Honorable mention: “Futuristic” restraints such as energy/force fields, intricate/electronic metal restraints, gravitational/magnetic-induced restraints.

3. Premise or story (general plot): Epic adventures set in futuristic/space-themed worlds or dystopian futures, involving a team of larger-than-life heroes matched against their equally powerful counterparts. Specific stories vary, but it’s always fun to see a heroic team arise from a cast of unlikely characters who were “thrown” into their given situation. As a kid (and still as an adult!), it’s easier to relate and put myself into their position.

4. Theme (comedy, thriller, horror, etc.): Adventure! I’m not a fan of TUGs in comedies, as any restraints used tend to be very loose, ill-fitting, or otherwise ill-suited for the task. Of course, given that TUGs in that context generally aren’t meant to be a primary focus, I don’t expect much detail to be paid here. Also, not a fan of people tied up in horror movies, either (i.e., victims tied up in a life-or-death situation and/or screaming in terror)—that’s always been particular off-putting to me. However, though I’ve never watched any movies in the Saw franchise (just random snippets), I will say that many of the restraints/devices used are (oddly) interesting. Makes me wonder what else the writers came up with that didn’t make the cut.

5. Look of the captor/captive: Athletic, lean, rugged types. Not overly muscular. Big fan of the “tomboy” look (and personality).

6. Attitude of captor captive: Sorry, had to add this one to go with #5! Fierce, determined, fiery. Adventurous and resourceful! I love it when a captive (who’s tied up head-to-toe) can still be as defiant and sassy as every in the face of seemingly insurmountable circumstances, and uses every means available to plot their escape.

Having written all this out, I’m reminded that I grew up watching “Xena: Warrior Princess” on a regular basis. This is the kind of “world” that I really enjoy. Honorable mentions would be Lara Croft and Katniss Everdeen.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Hello @Tetrahedron7Z :!: Welcome to the board :!:

Nice ice breaker.

Let's see.

1. I prefer female CAPTOR / male captive, that is F/M dynamics, be it in movies, stories, etc.

2. Rope, bondage tape, and spandex "cocoons". Compression wear can be in some instances "binding" as well.

3. From innocent fun and games to Utopian/dystopian settings. Fantasy and/or sci-fi settings for any plot, primary world settings for fun and games.

4. No horror whatsoever for me. I despise horror. But what one considers horror varies from person to person. As a masochist, I am sure there are things I consider "fun and games" that others would consider horrific. I prefer my themes to be either lighthearted or adventurous. Any theme goes so long as it doesn't cross over into what I would consider horror. The protagonists in the captor/captive dynamic must have some sort of mutual "bond", some measure of care and respect for one another.

5. I actually prefer the looks to be left up to the imagination, but if described I prefer "cute" over stunningly beautiful/handsome, and I prefer confident, teasing, or cocky captors and captives alike.
