The Break (Multiple M/M)
After grabbing another beer from the refrigerator, Michael closed the door and grabbed the bottle opener from the counter. With a swift pull, the cap on the bottle broke free with a 'POP'. After taking a sip of the beer, Michael returned back to the living room where he planned to spend the next 4 days unwinding if he wasnt called into work.
His wife, Amanda had taken their two boys up north to visit her parents for an extended weekend, while Michael was on-call for his job. The local police department to which Michael belonged as an officer was currently short-staffed and every available officer was on standby in case they were needed. With the past few weeks being relatively quiet around town, Michael believed he will be able to enjoy the time to himself, which was needed.
He flipped through the channels on the TV before landing on ESPN. Good background noise, he decided. His phone, which lay beside him on the end table, vibrated and the screen illuminated with a new alert. It was Amanda letting him know that her and the kids made it safely to her parents house. "Good to hear, babe. Tell the kids i love them, and I love you too. Call me tomorrow," he replied. Now Michael was completely relaxed and it didn't take him long to doze off on the couch.
The sun had already set far enough below the horizon to turn the daytime sky into dusk. It was getting late. Around the neighborhood, people were just settling in after a day of work, kids playing outside had already returned to their respective homes for the night, and the traffic began to quiet down. It wasn't until nightfall had completely overtaken the sky, that the window to Michael and Amanda's guest room gently slid open from the outside.
