Which makes the story more realistic and believable. Sure, it would have been nice if Steve Lonnegan had been arrested too, but in the circumstances i guess that would have been difficult here. And probably pointless, there wasn't any REAL criminal evidence of his wrong doing. But then, it could be successfully argued that he hasn't got away completely 'scoff free,' he HAS been punished, if not officially and to the degree that he really deserves. And in some ways he is almost an indirect victim, he had been lead to believe that he was untouchable by his own father.
