Well done, I was convinced you'd latch on to it immediately and wrote it as innocuously as possible.

I did fully gloss over/not realize the detail, but yeah in hindsight it does jump right out at you! I think I was just too excited about the potential "deputy betrays his sheriff" idea, I was missing the forest for the trees!

PART 10

After a few minutes, Romeo calmed down and approached the situation more analytically. His limbs were stretched and bound to the pegs, which they had positioned far enough away that he could not reach them with his hands. On the plus side, that gave him more leverage than if his wrists and ankles had been bound directly to them; his usual escape trick in his shows was to wiggle a peg free and go from there. That was denied him here.

Turning his head, he saw that they had left his gun and whip near him, mockingly him from out of reach.

He pulled on the ropes holding his arms with all his strength; there was next to no give. Trying to close his legs worked no better.

He tried to roll side-to-side, but the ropes were too taut. He realized he had arrogantly underestimated the other players, and his sadistic treatment of them had possibly triggered this response - but it was still a roleplay event. Surely they wouldn't actually leave him out here to die?

He redoubled his efforts, pulling with arms and legs simultaneously in little bursts.

Nothing.

Nor did anything else he tried work. He could not reach the knots with his fingers, and no amount of force seemed to move the pegs at all.

The sun climbed further up into the sky as he fought his bonds with increasing desperation. His overstuffed mouth was completely parched, and he was entirely covered in sweat.

He panicked, and struggled ineffectually, grunting into his gag. What should he do?

Another hour later, the only thing he could do was lie there and breathe. His throat was burning. His skin was burning. He had no energy to struggle left.

"All bondage is real," the rules had said. Well, it was certainly real now.

He was seething at how easily he had let himself be duped. If he'd only taken in the kid in the wheelchair instead of arrogantly sending for him to be taken away! Rodney would've been reunited with his brother and they wouldn't have had any leverage. And he'd be taking down Roberts instead of suffering out in the desert.

He caught a movement out of the corner of his eye. Someone was approaching.

He squinted against he waves of heat raising from the ground, but could not make out the face. From the build he guessed it was Rodney's brother.

A flask of water landed next to him with a sloshing sound. The figure hunkered down next to the peg holding his right arm, braced.

Yanked it out of the ground.

Got up and left.

Romeo lost no time in unstrapping his gag and, tremblingly, grabbed the flask with his free hand. He managed to get it open with his mouth, and drank carefully. "Just a little at first," he reminded himself.

He closed the flask again and worked on the knot holding his left hand. Eventually, it gave; he was half free.

He took a careful sip, then another, before working on his left leg. One more drink before he freed himself entirely.

He got up on his feet, shakily. His hat was still there; he put it on, grabbed the flask, gun and whip, and staggered off towards the canyon to seek shade.

He spent the rest of the day in the cool shade of the canyon, mostly drifting in and out of sleep. By the evening, he had recovered. He'd inspected his gun - of course they'd taken the bullets. His keys were gone as well; no point in returning to town.

"I'm coming for you, Roberts," he said, to no-one in particular, and set off towards the mansion.

I think Romeo was enjoying the roleplay from the start, but it feels like things got personal now.

Since the gun is not an option, I wonder if he's planning to put his whip skills to good use.

Romeo is only just now figuring out just how real the bondage is, now that he's been on the receiving end . Atleast Tino (assuming it really was him) came to release him just enough to free himself. Love his energy to continue his pursuit to take down Mr Roberts. I'd honestly be amazed if he pulls it off by the end. Not saying he couldn't, we just know how Rui is, usually being atleast one step ahead of everyone. The real kicker would be if Rui allows himself to be captured, only to further ensnare Romeo into their games later on. Idk, but this no doubt, continues to be an interesting read with the whole RP scene

Hahaha, it's only fair for you to sneak something past me every now and then. So congrats is order for managing to pull it off

An intense bit of bondage for Romeo! The baking in the Sun, the hopeless feeling, the eleventh hour mysterious rescue! And of course, the grim determination Romeo settles on! Cannot wait to see Romeo's efforts to take Roberts and co down!

Unless he can find some bullets somewhere, he's going to be limited as to what he can scavenge. And surely the gang wouldn't be that careless?

Well, that's what happens when you get careless. Trying to lord it over Rui usually doesn't end well, we'll see what Romeo is up to.

PART 11

It was the middle of the night when he arrived. He'd decided that, since he had nothing to lose, he'd go for a frontal assault.

The door had, as he had noted during the first visit, both a normal and a servant pullcord. The latter would ring in, he hoped, Louis's quarters and summon him to the door.

He yanked it repeatedly and stood to the side, crouched.

It took some minutes before the door opened and Louis carefully stuck his head out, gun in one hand, oil lamp in the other.

Romeo caught him around the throat with his whip and yanked him off his feet. The man was dressed only in a nightshirt, a shocking breach of etiquette. He tapped the empty gun to the back of Louis' head, indicating that he was knocking him out; his opponent complied, going limp.

He pulled the article of clothing off the man and tore off the sleeves, shoving one into the "unconscious" man's mouth and tying it in place with the other. Two more rips turned the remainder of the gown into bondage material, and he tightly wrapped Louis's wrists and elbows. Removing and stowing his whip, he fashioned the third strip into a leash, then collected the gun, taking the bullets from it and putting them into his own.

He flipped the man over, putting the barrel under his chin. He lightly slapped him repeatedly, indicating he could return to consciousness.

He grinned at the man's confusion. "Surprise, bastard. Now, you will remain very, very quiet, and you'll take me to your quarters."

Romeo did not let the opulence of the villa distract him as Louis led him through it, keeping the leash tight and the gun pressed into his neck at all times.

When they arrived at the quarters, there was a surprise waiting for him.

He closed the door before turning to the naked man bound spreadeagle to the bed, a gag in his mouth. He was already writhing and making muffled noises, but moving the gun to under Louis's chin again shut him up.

"Fancy seeing you here, Will," Romeo grinned. "Now, I'm going to have to assume that the two of you are godless sodomites, because if that's really your brother..."

There was a barely audible snort from Louis, and Romeo felt a little thrill at having made him break character even the tiniest bit.

He shoved Louis forward. "Get down on top of him."

Louis hesitated.

"Unless you want me to kill him right now?"

The man clumsily complied, climbing on top of his lover. Will grunted under the weight.

Romeo "knocked him out" again, then availed himself of the many bundles of rope to spreadeagle Louis to the bed as well. He used the rest of the ropes to tie them together by their necks, making sure the knots he used would not slip, then tied their balls off to the frame, looping the rope around so any struggle would tug on both sets of genitals. Finally, he tied extra bandannas over their lower faces to make their gags harder to dislodge. Two more blindfolded them both, to the (briefly) visible annoyance of Will.

He took the key from the lock. "Night, boys," he said, then left, locking the door behind him.

A short while later, he had located the master bedroom.

He opened the door very slowly. It seemed to be well-oiled and made no sound.

In the dark, he could make out a figure on the massive bed.

He raised his gun and fired until he was out of bullets.

I gotta give it to Romeo, he's not holding back! Nicely took care of Louis and Will was already taken care of. His immediate attack on Roberts was good but I think he made a critical mistake. Firing all his ammo. Thats like a big rule in combat, never waste your ammo when it's limited. Plus this all just seemed to easy for him. Me thinks Romeo might just be in big trouble now

I guess Louis and Will won't be bored until their rescue.

I second @Red86, Romeo got careless and I don't trust him to stay more than one chapter untied.

The lump in the bed is definitely a decoy, and Romeo has played his hand too early!

Y'all are forcing my hand here. While the chapter is being prepared, here's what the Fury gang had to deal with...

PART 12

Throwing the gun aside, Romeo entered the room.

"Game over, Roberts."

A figure slammed into him from behind the door, effortlessly propelling him across the room. Incredible pain bloomed in his neck and just below his shoulder blades, and he stumbled, fell...

...landed in the wheelchair that was parked there.

He found that he could not move his extremities. With jaw-dropping speed, his wrists were bound tightly to the wheelchair's armrests while he cried out in alarm and disdain.

The figure forced his right leg against the chair with an iron grip. More straps immobilized it, then the left leg.

Cruel fingers dug into his cheeks, forcing his mouth open. He braced for more cloth, but to his surprise, it was a metal device that trapped his teeth and tongue, a thick metal rod parting his lips. Leather straps attached to both sides converged behind his head, and his assailant buckled them tightly together.

Feeling had returned to his arms and legs, and he struggled against the bonds. With the urgency gone, the figure used the wheelchair's multiple attachment points to immobilize him with further straps at the lower arms, elbows, upper arms, and knees. Thicker straps bound his thighs to the sides and his torso to the back. A metal loop closed around his neck and the figure turned a knob at the back, which tightened it until he could not move it at all.

Romeo was screaming obscenities into the gag and jerking against his restraints, but he was completely and utterly stuck. The figure was entirely unfazed and produced thinner straps of leather, wrapping them around each finger and binding them to the armrests as well.

The lights came on.

"Yes, sheriff," said Mr. Roberts. "I do believe it's game over."

He rolled the wheelchair over to a large mirror.

"Look at you," he said.

Romeo barely recognized himself. His usually carefully coiffed hair was frazzled, a 3 o'clock shadow on his bulging cheeks. A horse bridle was parting his dry, cracked lips obscenely. Sand and salt crusted his chest where it was visible beneath the shirt and leather jacket. His jeans were torn and dirty, a marked difference to the pristine boots.

"You could've just let Will go. You could've left after Rodney and Tony rescued you. You could've even saved them if you weren't so hellbent for revenge."

Romeo made a questioning sound.

"We had a telescope on you the entire time, of course. Rodney his brother were warned to leave, and they decided not to. So there had to be consequences."

Roberts smiled humorlessly.

"Now, sheriff, despite your cowardly assassination attempt, I'm no monster, and I think you've not killed any of my men, so I'm giving you one more chance. If you can leave before sunrise, you will be granted free passage. You may even still be able to rescue the two! And if not... you'll share the fate of your predecessors."

He wheeled Romeo out the door, stopping by the servant's quarters. Unlocking the door, he peeked inside, snorted with amusement, then closed it again before resuming the journey.

"I'll give you this, sheriff," he said. "You too have some... creative punishments. Not exactly according to the letter of the law, of course."

He deposited Romeo in an empty room, engaging the brakes on the wheelchair, then pulling a bag over his head.

Romeo had no idea how much time had passed when he gave up. He had never been tied up like this; even his straitjacket escapes were a walk in the park compared to the infernal device he had been strapped to. The leather was unyielding, and without use of his fingers, there was no way out. The accursed boots made it impossible for him to use his toes. He could barely turn his head, the gag immobilized his mouth, and the bag took his sight and impeded his breathing.

No amount of screaming and cussing had caused any reaction either, beyond his throat hurting. Even swallowing was annoying, with his adam's apple hittitng the loop around his throat.

It sounded like he'd go back to the desert, staked out and left until he turned into a skeleton. He wondered if they would bother, or simply describe his fate before ending the play.

He had fallen asleep at some point; the next thing he knew was Roberts yanking the bag from his head. His whole retinue was there; Louis, Will, and the Fury gang.

Romeo deflated; his defeat was complete.

"Time for you to join your predecessors," Roberts announced. He repaced the bag, flipped the brakes on the wheelchair and off they went.

To his surprise, they didn't go very far, even though they were outside for a little, before the wheelchair came to a stop.

The bag came off his head again.

Romeo stared.

I cannot wait to behold the terror waiting for Romeo! I wonder if Rodney and his brother are sharing the same restraint fate right now too!

I do wonder what his fate will be. Surely he's got an idea even though us readers don't just yet. Is he staring at what consequences Rodney and Tony have faced or something worse. Doesn't matter, it's time for Romeo to pay the piper

PART 13

They were in the stables with the human horses. Each of the four was tethered inside his stall by a chain and collar. Each wore an intricate metal harness around his waist to which the wrists were attached; they also appeared to double as chastity belts. To his horror, he realized he was wearing the same gag as them.

"Sheriff, may I introduce to you former sheriffs Bob, Manga, Elvic, and Faiz."

They looked at him, pityingly.

Romeo watched in horror as Roberts uncorked a flask and poured some of its contents on a kerchief.

The man held it tightly over his mouth and nose, a sweet smell filling his nostrils. At the same time, there was a brief stinging pain in his glute, and he slipped into actual unconsciousness.

When he awoke, he found himself restrained like the other "horses" had been. The smooth metal of an underwear-like harness covered his groin. His hands were shackled to the device, allowing him little movement, and it was clear there would be no escaping these bonds.

The entire gang was assembled, Will and Louis in particular grinning at his fate. He noticed how much more handsome the former was without the fake scar and blind eye.

"Well, Romeo," said Rui. "That's it for you. Before we get you back to your manager to conclude the deal, allow me to take you sightseeing to all the places you haven't been."

Romeo was still speechless, but quickly found his voice when the assembled men parted to reveal a gig - a two-man carriage drawn by, normally, a horse.

He cursed into his gag, only to be hit by a painful electric shock to this neck. This triggered additional rage, which in turn led to a second, more painful shock to his inner thigh.

"The next one's gonna be to your balls," said Warmed.

That shut him up. They fell on him and before he knew what had happened, he had been mounted to the front of the gig. Rui climbed aboard while Loum attached the bridle to his gag, then took the driver's seat.

He whimpered as Loum hit him with a crop, started walking. Several more hits encouraged him to take up a quicker pace; fortunately for him, he did not have to exhaust himself too much going down the mountain. Loum was kind enough to use the brakes so their inexperienced horse did not injure himself.

Romeo felt deeply humiliated by being given directions only via pulls on the bridle and the crop. As threatened, they took him on a grand tour of the area, showing off everywhere he hadn't been. Eventually he found himself pulling the gig along the railroad tracks. He was sweating heavily, and sighed with relief when Loum pulled back on the bridle, allowing him to stop.

Trying to catch his breath, he focused his attention on the rails.

The smaller man who'd played Rodney's brother was lying between them, arms and legs staked out on the ourside so that a train would sever them. He was, of course, tightly gagged. A short distance away, Rodney himself was staked spreadeagle face-down, similarly gagged, his back full of welts.

"Like I said, you could've saved them both," Roberts said. "Loum, why don't you go give them a hand?"

The driver jumped off the vehicle and untethered Rodney's arms and legs, handing him a flask.

"And to think we whipped poor Rodney for nothing!"

Rodney stopped drinking for a moment to roll his eyes. As if he hadn't specifically requested it.

"I'll take care of Tino myself, thank you," he announced, moving towards the other captive.

Loum climbed back into the driver's seat, the crop stung Romeo's ass, and off they went.

Romeo's legs were like jelly when they arrived in town. Waiting for him, standing next to another, smaller gig, was his agent, Maurice. One of the other former sheriffs was tethered to it.

Loum pulled him to a halt, and it was all he could do not to collapse.

"Rui! Loum! Pretty amazing what you've done with Manga here." He patted his horse's muscular stomach. "It's been only three months and I almost didn't recognize him!"

They shook hands, then Maurice turned to Romeo.

"I hear you've been a pretty big disappointment overall," he said. "Your behavior falls back on me, of course, so I owe these gentlemen an apology."

Romeo started to protest into his gag, incredulously, but the immediate electric shock shut him up quickly.

"I'm going to have to lower my price. How's this sound?" He handed a clipboard to Rui, who looked surprised.

"Deal," he said.

They shook hands, and Maurice sighed. "And he was so promising. I'll need to look for other clients, I guess."

He mounted the gig. "Well, enjoy your new life, Romeo."

Romeo screamed as the gig disappeared into the distance.
