The setting does lend itself rather well to bondage and BDSM. Aside from the fact that the Circles are literal prisons and that Templars are warriors specifically trained to capture and physically subdue mages, having them serve as lifelong jailors/guards to physically inferior mages and having them occupy the same space as their subjects on a daily basis surely led to some rather taboo/one-sided exchanges and complex amorous relationships. Such things were frowned upon by the Chantry, but going by some of the Codex texts and even discussions with Wynne, lots apparently happened behind closed doors. TONS of very grey-area BDSM potential there.

As for bondage, they didn't include any in-game, because you know...reasons. But it doesn't take a particularly bright mind to understand that it sort of goes without saying.

Runaway mages (apostates, as the Chantry called them) wouldn't just be escorted and coaxed back to the Circle once captured by Templars. They would quite obviously be very heavily bound & gagged, and kept that way during the lengthy weeks-long trek back to the closest Circle.

Although DA:O didn't actually present us with any verbal components to spellcasting, the game/lore/universe was inspired by (and marketed as being the successor to) Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, in which magic is heavily reliant on long vocal incantations. So even though we don't get incantations in DA:O, I don't feel it's much of a stretch to assume that they were used.

There's lots of "reading between the lines" to be done when taking the in-game experience and putting pen to paper.

Another example where bondage would've most assuredly been used (even though the game developers didn't think it necessary) was meeting Jowan down in the basement dungeons when breaking into Redcliff castle. He spouts his tale about having poisoned the Arl and having been jailed by Arlessa Isolde, but he's just standing there in a metal prison cell. At the start of the mage origin when he seeks your help to escape the Circle with Lily, he tells you that melting a metal lock (with fire spells/wands) isn't a problem. He literally has Flame Blast in his repertoire, and could (if unbound) melt the prison door in seconds.

The only way Jowan would be unable to escape the cell (even though in-game limitations would have you believe otherwise) would be if the Redcliff soldiers had him heavily bound. He would most assuredly have been gagged as well.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. Just thought I'd share my thoughts as to why DA:O could potentially lend itself rather well to the themes readers love here. Lots of shady shenanigans happening at the Circle tower, and obviously lots of bondage & gags going on with those mage-hunting Templars.

This really is a hot premise something about powerful people like mages having to submit really gets me going. Wheel of time has similar elements with the whole damane stuff ,shame about there being no male damane.

At the risk of coming across like a shitty algorithm, if you like that, you might like THIS!
