Dear Friend, thank you for your most kind words, good to have you back here. The next Chapter of the Heidelberg Affair is due in the next days. Question is: Will Chris and Sophie manage to find out, what the Nordstern Trust is up too? Their Enemies are on the Move too.

The Heidelberg Affair - Troubles of the Past

Chapter 5:

“Ambush”

The next Morning: Europäischer Hof:

1000 AM:

It was the next Morning. Chris and Sophie had risen early, and done a morning run, which led them to the eight Centuries old University Church St. Peter. They crossed the Street and followed the Klingenteich Street upwards in Serpentines to the Molkenkur and back.

On the way up, Chris pointed to a large House with a vast Patio and a Flag on top of the Roof in the Colours Black-White-Blue “This is one of the Fraternity Houses” The Pianist smiled “They had nice Parties!”

“You went to Fraternity Parties?” The Pianist smiled “They were good – and the Guys were nice!” Sophie had to smile. She had never pegged Chris as the Type who would be one of the “Fraternity Groupies” – “And no” the Blonde smiled “I was no Fraternity Groupie!”

After their run, they had refreshed, and Chris had done her usual routine of Meditating, Tai Chi, Martial Arts Katas, and Kenjitsu “What´s the Plan, Chris?” Sophie inquired “I think we should pay Ruth Goldstein a Visit – I did not peg her as that stubborn ….” Chris sighed “In the Afternoon we meet with Robert´s Mentor in Schwetzingen, he may give us some clues …”

“And you will call in the Cavalry, will you?” Chris nodded “I will – and we will relocate to another Location when Anna, Ragna, Sybil, and Merrit arrive.”

“Might be wise” Sophie agreed “You have organized something already?” The Lawyer had noticed the small smile around Chris´ lips “I did: An old Friend owed me – and since he is Overseas anyway ….”

One hour later:

Chris and Sophie had opted for Casual: Wide cut Blazers, Blouses, Jeans, and Sneakers. Sophie parked their Mercedes not far from the House, where Ruth inhabited a flat on the third Floor. Of course, there was no elevator, so the Lawyer and the Pianist hurried up the Stairs. On the last three Stairs, before they reached the Third Floor, they exchanged a look, and both pulled their Guns.

It was just a feeling, instinct.

Something was off.

Finally, they stood before the massive wooden Door. Chris pressed the bell button. They waited. Nothing. The Pianist tried it a second Time. Again: Nothing. Chris and Sophie exchanged a look. The Lawyer nodded. She covered Chris, while the Blonde retrieved her Lock Pick set from her Handbag.

It took not that long. Gently Chris pushed the Door open. Guns at the ready they entered “Ruth?” Chris called “It is me and Sophie!” Silence greeted them “Are you there?” No reply. Systematically they checked the Flat. It had been searched, that much was clear. One Room left: The Bedroom.

The Pianist kicked the Door open. It was empty. The Bed was not made. Sophie sniffed. There were traces of a Scent in the Air. One they knew …. “Chloroform!” Chris stated and pointed to the Floor. On the right Side of the Bed lay a Piece of Cloth on the polished wooden Floor …

Sophie picked it up and sniffed “Chloroform!”

Chris cursed - “Chris always curses in Japanese” Sophie knew – and banged her fist against the Wall and switched into German “That stubborn Mule! I warned her!” The Lawyer was impressed, the Pianist lost her Temper seldom. Sophie could only remember a few Incidents, very few. Chris's self-control was ironclad – mostly.

The Blonde breathed in deeply and composed herself “Sophie, we have to look after the Papers, Ruth stole from von Treskow!” The Lawyer nodded “You have an Idea where to look?” Now the Pianist smiled “In fact I have! Ruth told me – just in Case!”

They finally found the Stack of Papers and a Data Stick in a secret Compartment in a Cupboard in the Dining Room. Sophie flipped through the Papers “Interesting” she stated “What?” “I will explain later!” The Lawyer explained absentmindedly. Now Chris was curious too. Something had caught Sophie´s Interest.

The Search of the Flat produced nothing more of interest. The Laptop was gone, the Powerline only was left …. The Flat itself said something about the Private Investigator. Meticulously clean. Nothing lying around “She is very tidy,” The Lawyer noticed – and smiled “Compared to her I am a Messi” “Right!” Chris smiled too: She knew few people who were more organized than the Lawyer “You – and a Messi!”

“What do you think!” Sophie ventured “Where have they brought her, Ruth I mean” “Von Treskow´s Villa in Neuenheim, I would say” Chris shrugged. The Pianist looked at her Watch. It was a Quarter to Eleven.

“We should be on our Way – we will have Lunch at 1300 at the Hotel and have a few things to do till then – the others are supposed to land at Mannheim Airport at 1800 Hours. They will depart from Hamburg at 1500.

“Let´s go then!” Sophie nodded.

Villa von Treskow around the same Time:

Ruth´s foggy mind cleared only slowly. She felt like a ship in a fog bank. Visibility? Zero. She remembered going to bed early … then someone had pressed something damp and smelly on her face. Before she was fully awake the Drug overwhelmed her.

Then she had drifted in and out … Had they been on the Road? Ruth had felt a sharp prick in the Neck and blackened out again …. She remembered dimly a Room, a Cell. She had been strapped to it …. Another injection. Again, she lost consciousness … till now.

To process her Predicament took some time … that she was naked, that she sat on a stool, a Chair? That she was strapped to it? Ruth held her Eyes closed. Tried to feel “I cannot move my Head” she concluded. A strap around her forehead prevented that “I am gagged” Not that she was surprised at all. A Panel Gag. One with a very large foam ball … The Investigator continued her “Inspection”.

An array of Shackles and Straps fastened her to this Chair. And there was that Sensation between her legs. She was impaled. Impaled on a Dildo, a Vibrator? Some sort of Sybian Stool? Ruth felt Electrodes taped to certain Points of her Anatomy. And under her feet? Bristles “Roles with Bristles”

“She is coming around” a Voice interrupted her Musings “Took her long enough” another Voice added “We shall warm her up before the Boss arrives!” the first Voice smiled gleefully. Ruth shuddered … the Vibrator began to move, glided in her Pussy out, with rising frequency – and the damned thing did not only vibrate? It delivered electric shocks.

The Roles under her soles began to move. The Bristles brushed her soles. More electric Shocks. Ruth screamed and hollered and giggled ….

“She is awake!” The first Voice said. So strong was the Vibrator's last shock and Thrust, that Ruth ripped her Eyes open and stared at the smiling faces of the two Women. The Blonde, she knew, von Treskow´s Personal Assistant and a slightly shorter Woman of stockier build.

The electric Shocks got stronger; the tickling made her mad …. It took not long till Ruth was a sweaty, quivering mess, clawing for Breath. And that damned Vibrator, gliding in and gliding out. Her body reacted to the overstimulation “I cannot bear it any longer!” was one of Ruth´s last sane thoughts – before the sensory overload overwhelmed her.

Hotel Europäischer Hof, 1400 Hours:

Chris and Sophie were on their Way down to the Hotel´s Parking Garage, to their black Mercedes GLE Coupé. Roberts Mentor Arno von Clausen had agreed to meet them at 1500 – he lived in Weinheim, a thirty-minute Drive from Heidelberg. Chris was not sure if von Clausen could be helpful, but at this Stage, any help was welcome.

Sophie had donned a wide-leg blue pinstripe suit with matching heels, and Chris wore a Prussian blue one. Their Heels clicked loudly on the Concrete Floor. The Pianist did not like Parking Garages very much – with good Reason: In one in Hamburg, she had been kidnapped and transpired to Russia, where she had spent one Week in the Dungeons of the late Oligarch Boris Oblomov …

This Parking Garage was one like any other. They had almost reached their Car when Chris´ Neck hairs rose. She whirled around – no, she wanted to whirl around … something sharp hit her in the Neck, everything grew black, and she crumbled to the Floor. When she hit the Concrete, she did not register anymore ….

Later:

Chris groaned “I lay on something hard!” Tentatively she opened her Eyes. She rested with the left Side of her Face on the Concrete. Concrete … With a groan the Blonde pulled herself upright, sat up, and looked around: She was still in the Parking Garage.

In Front of her stood their Car … “Their Car?” From one second to the next all dizziness was gone, and all Senses were on High Alert “Where is Sophie?” Her own Bag lay next to her right side. She checked its Contents: Handy, Purse, Gun … everything was there …

Chris scrambled to her feet and scanned her Surroundings: Now she remembered. Sophie had been two Steps ahead of here … There! Next to the Driver´s Door! Chris walked nearer till she could see clearly …. It was a blue Bag, Sophie´s Bag.

With a groan, the Blonde stooped down and took it from the Floor and opened it: The Lawyer´s Gun was there, her Purse too – but her Mobile was missing …. The only logical explanation? Sophie had been abducted and one needed not to be Genius to deduce by whom ….

Chris did not scream, she did not rage, she did not shout: She grew calm and cold “Theda von Treskow! You will rue the Day you crossed our Path …!” Chris hurried the Stairwell up, till she stood in the Hotel´s Court.

The Pianist pulled her Mobile out of her Bag and dialed. The Call was taken at once “Sybil, It´s me. Is Anna around? We have a Situation here!” The Brunette was used to Chris´ brusque Manner. The Russian stood next to the IT Genius “Yes Chris?”

“Sophie and I have been attacked here in the Hotel´s Parking Garage. I was taken out by a Tranquilizer Dart. When I came around Sophie was gone, her Phone too.” Anna paused for a Moment “What do you want us to do Chris?” Chris smiled grimly “Bring the big Guns with you. Anna, you know what we will need!”

“I do, and we will!” The Russian smiled cooly “Anything else?” “No” Chris shook her head “We will meet as planned at the Schwalbenest. Be careful!” Anna smiled “I am the soul of Caution!” She ended the Call. Chris went back to the Reception, took the Elevator, and packed her and Sophie´s Things.

20 Minutes later she had stowed their Luggage in the Mercedes. With a small tool, which looked like some sort of Scanner, she inspected the Car. Two times a sharp Ping rang through the Silence: Trackers! With a devious Smile, she left them at two other Cars ….

Five Minutes later the black GLE Coupé left the Parking Garage … “Sophie stay strong!” the Blonde´s heart went out to the Lawyer. Sophie Reichenbach looked like the young Sophia Loren incarnated, but under the Façade lay a core of tempered Steel …

Villa von Treskow: Cellars, probably around 1600 Hours:

It was the Pain in her bound toes, and the Cold creeping upwards from the Stone Floor, through her Feet … that woke her. Sophie needed a good deal longer till she realized her Predicament fully. Her fine-tuned razor-sharp mind worked with the Speed of an old Personal Computer … - a very old one ….

“What has happened? Chris and I were in the Parking Garage, suddenly one, no two sharp Pricks in the Neck … then Blackness ….” That her Abductors had dosed her a second Time, with some weighty Stuff she could not know….

What did the Lawyer know? “I am in some sort of Dungeon. The Air is cool. I have been stripped: They have left me though my Underwear and my Hose … my legs have been tied with Rope, Parachute Cord? Ankles, Calves under the Joint, above the Joint, Midthigh, and under my Crotch” Sophie sighed … “My Crotch: The Crotchrope is very tight. I am tied in a tight Strappado – it is bearable, for now. My toes hurt, and my Calves burn …...”

The Lawyer continued her Analysis – this helped her to keep her Cool “This is not my first Rodeo. My Father-in-Law did not break me, Anck-Sun-Amun did not break me – compared to them Theda von Treskow and her Hench Women are Amateurs!”

“They gagged me with a large Harness Ballgag – without Stuffing and blindfolded me. Earbuds render me deaf. The D-Ring on the Crown of my head has been tied to my Elbow Ropes, so I have to stare ahead.”

“Summary to myself: Very uncomfortable, but I can hold up – for now!”

The Lawyer could not do anything else than wait: In her Mind-Palace´s Library she opened a Shelf, the “Strafprozessordnung” or Code of Criminal Procedure … she started with Book one: “General Provisions” …... as Sophie just began to recite Paragraph 10 a sensation interrupted her: Cool fresh Air, Goosebumps on her Skin …. She sensed the Presence of several People.

The Lawyer smelled a Perfume … Dior J’Adore … the Earbud in her left Ear was removed, then the right one. After the enforced Silence, even the softest of Sounds rang unnaturally loud in her Ear … the Sleepmask fell.

Sophie had to blink before she could see clearly: Before her stood, wearing a bright green Dress, which formed a nice Contrast to her red mane: Theda von Treskow. On her left her PA, the Blonde, Lisa was her Name.

Von Treskow smiled benevolently “It is nice to see you again Doctor Reichenbach! It has been a while! I have to apologize for the Circumstances of this Meeting, but that could not be helped!” Sophie just stared back “False Snake!” Outwardly she kept her cool Façade.

“You see Sophie!” The Lawyer chuckled “I am normally not that informal, but I hope you don´t mind if I call you Sophie?” Sophie stared back “To maintain good relationships and as a token of my goodwill” Von Treskow continued “Lisa, why don´t you lower the Pulley a bit?”

“Of Course, Boss!” the Blonde acknowledged and pressed a button on a remote control. Finally, Sophie could stand flatfooted on the Floor.” Theda von Treskow smiled “I bet your Calves and Feet are grateful!” “Grateful? I give you grateful!” Sophie fumed, how she managed to keep a straight Face she did not know.

“You surely” Von Treskow continued in the same condescending Tone “Want to know, why we meet under such Circumstances! Uups … I forgot: You are gagged, and you cannot move your Head! I apologize! Lisa!”

Von Treskow´s PA cut the line that held Sophie´s Head in Position – which was a blessing and fumbled at the Straps of the Harness Gag. Her stiff Jaws screamed “Pain!” as the large Ball came finally Free.

A Water Bottle was pressed against her lips – and Sophie managed not to spill too much …. Patiently von Treskow waited, her bright blue Eyes scrutinizing her “Like a Scientist an Insect!” Sophie thought.

The Redhead was impressed. Sophie Reichenbach´s beautiful features betrayed nothing, no Emotion. Her cat-like green Eyes spoke another Language: They radiated Defiance “Time to up the Ante” von Treskow thought:

“You know Sophie, this must not be unpleasant, tell me what I want to know, and you can enjoy my Hospitality, and tomorrow you can return to Christine von der Marwitz, no harm done, what do you say?”

“What do you want to know?” Sophie´s voice betrayed nothing. It was the same tone, she would have used in the Courtroom: Calm, controlled, precise “Now we are talking!” Von Treskow smiled benevolently “Where is the Material Robert von Harenberg left for your Boss?” The Lawyer with Italian Roots noticed an Undertone …. Sophie sighed “We do not know. He did not leave any Instructions for Chris.” She looked von Treskow straight in the Eye.

“I really would like to believe you, Sophie!” The Lawyer shook her head “But you understand that I must be sure, right?” Sophie stared back “Maybe you tell the Truth, maybe not?” Von Treskow made a good show, the dark-haired Woman had to admit “This is what happens now Sophie, do not take this personally mind you!” She turned to her PA “I leave you now to Lisa´s capable Hands – then we will talk again!” Von Treskow blew her a Kiss, turned on her Heels – and left. Closing the Door behind her.

Lisa smiled “I hoped you would say no!” Five Minutes later Sophie was gagged again and stood on the Balls of her feet. Lisa stood behind her, she had selected a riding Crop “Thankfully I have chosen full-back Panties today” Sophie mused ruefully.

She steeled herself for the first blow. When it came? Lisa surprised Sophie, she hit her left Calf ….Left, right, left – her Tormentor moved upwards. The Lawyer could not tell how much time passed – at some point, she retreated to her inner Sanctum.

She distanced herself from her Body …. She had trained that Technique with Chris many times. Chris Sanctum was Himeji Castle, where she met her Sensei Nakamura.

Sophie´s Retreat was a Chapel, the St. Afra Chapel of the Imperial Cathedral of Speyer. A small Chapel. She stepped over the Threshold and pulled the Door shut behind her – before the Altar she knelt …. The Outer World it was gone. Sophie concentrated on the Candle on the Altar. Its light was warm. It did not flicker.

A sharp Tug at her Hair ripped her back into reality. She needed a Moment to focus. Von Treskow stood before her, Lisa on her left “I really would like where you have been Sophie!” Von Treskow smiled sweetly.

Only now Sophie sensed the Pain, the Burning of her Butt, the backside of her Legs “Sophie, do you remember now?” von Treskow inquired, imitating Concern “This can end now. You have been brave! Do yourself a Favour and tell me!”

Sophie stared back, shook her Head, and mumbled something, which sounded very much “I do not know!” “Sophie, Sophie!” Von Treskow shook her Head, I really hate this, doing this to you, you know – but you understand I must be absolutely sure. Really, really sure!” She patted Sophie on the Head “You know what to do Lisa ….”

Lisa did know: Not too much later Sophie found herself in a strict standing Spreadeagle – standing on the Balls of her feet. The tall blonde PA stood before her. In her right hand, she held a wooden Instrument “A Tonfa” Sophie recognized “A Tonfa is a fascinating tool you know Doctor Reichenbach” Lisa smiled “In the Hands of a Master it can be both: A Tool of Pleasure and a Tool of Pain” She walked around Sophie “What shall it be?” The Blonde added softly “Pleasure or Pain?” She purred “Let us find out, shall we?”

Sophie steeled herself. Von Treskow´s PA stood behind her. She sensed her Heat. Sophie felt the wooden Tonfa gliding up her left leg inside. It felt smooth and cool – not an unpleasant Sensation. The Tonfa glided above the soft skin of her inner thigh. Sophie almost relaxed “This is Pleasure!” Lisa whispered “This! Is Pain!” The Pain was intense. As Sophie found out Lisa loved Symmetry … Left. Right. Left ….

Sophie´s Mind pulled the Plug at some Point: Lisa registered that Sophie´s Eyes were dull, like Marbles. She stood back and looked up at the Camera “She does not know anything Boss, she broke down – if she knew anything she would have talked”.

Von Treskow was displeased, but there were other Options …. “Bring her in her Quarters, let her refresh, have a Dinner – then take care of her sleeping arrangements!” Lisa nodded. The Lawyer smiled “I bet von der Marwitz is pacing the Floor and worried sick ….

The Schwalbennest, around 1800:

Theda von Treskow was wrong on both accounts: Chris von der Marwitz was not pacing the floor, and she was not worried sick. After she had arrived at the Safe House, the Pianist had first searched every Room of the House – one could not be too careful. The Security System was among the Best that could be bought with Money – Sybil would beef it up later.

Chris had then refreshed -and meditated. To keep her mind busy, she had prepared the Meal. Without a doubt, Anna would be hungry very much. The Plane had landed according to Plan; Chris knew.

By now the spicy Scents of Vietnamese Cuisine filled the Kitchen – Living Room Area. With enormous speed and precision, the Blonde had cut the Meat, and the Vegetables – channelling her Emotions.

Chris looked at the laid table and the Kitchen. Everything was ready.

Anna, Ragna, Sybil, and Merit arrived 30 Minutes later – with two Cars: One black Mercedes Van, and one BMW X 7, Silver Metallic. Chris had forwarded them the Entry Codes. The Pianist waited in the large living Room.

Her Friends parked the Cars in the Garage. Anna stepped into the Living Room first. The tall Russian walked straight to Chris and hugged her tightly. On her Heels? Ragna, followed by Sybil – Merit brought up the Rear.

Chris smiled at them all, she was difficult to read, but Anna sensed her Relief “I am so glad you are here! Why don´t you make yourself at home, change into something comfortable, then we will have Dinner!”

“Sounds like a plan!” Anna grinned.

“I knew you would say that!” Ragna teased the Russian …

The Violinist turned on her Heels ….”The Gà nướng sả” smells delicious!”

Ragna and Chris exchanged a knowing look …..

Villa von Treskow: A Cell, roughly around the same Time:

Sophie could not tell how she got into her Cell, 20 Square meters she estimated. The Walls were painted in a bright Blue. There was a Table, two Chairs, and a Cupboard. Nothing fashionable but solid. A large LED Screen too, but no Clock. Later she discovered there was a Bathroom too: A Bathtub and a Shower … that was later.

As she slowly regained her faculties she registered her surroundings more keenly: She lay on a soft, comfortable Mattress. Sophie stared at the Ceiling and listened to her Body. The main Signal it sent. Pain. Pain in many Places, from her Calves upwards to her Neck “My Body will be one Bruise tomorrow” she sighed and tried to sit up.

She managed it. Another Step? Putting her feet on the Floor. One Step more. Standing up? Another Step. Slightly swaying she stood. Sophie looked at the Bathroom Door. Three Metres. Only three Metres. It could have been twenty.

A booming Voice interrupted her. It came from an Intercom in the left Corner near the Ceiling “Listen Sophie!” It was Lisa “Drag yourself under the Shower, freshen up, and redress. You will find the Garment in the Bathroom. You have 45 Minutes!”

Sophie managed it. To be ready in 45 Minutes. Barely. In the Shower, she had pressed both Hands against the Tills and the steaming hot Water had hammered on her back …. As promised, there was fresh clothing: A black down-filled suit without Booties … a pair of black hose – and a black Diaper ….” You must be kidding me” the Lawyer groaned. No Bra.

She beat the Clock though: As her Handlers entered, Olga and Lisa, she sat at the Table. Her face betrayed nothing. She could tell that Lisa was impressed “You do look good Doctor!” Sophie stared back “Why so glum?” The PA chuckled:

“You get a nice dinner; Olga made it herself! A fine red Wine!” Olga set a covered Tray on the Table, a Glass, and a small bottle of Red Wine “And?” Sophie made no effort to hide her exhaustion “You will have Dinner, then get ready for bed. You will like the sleeping arrangements!”

The Lawyer was sure, she would not like the sleeping arrangements.

Sophie looked after her Handlers. The Door had closed. She took the Covers of the Tray – and smiled: Potato Dumplings, red Cabbage, and Pork Roast in a rich Gravy. It smelled heavenly ….

The Schwalbennest, around 2100:

Sybil was busy beefing up Security and getting the Systems online.

Chris, Anna, Ragna, and Merit had convened in the Living Room. Anna mustered Chris keenly “What is your plan? I know that look!”

A grim smile curled the Blonde´s lips – it let Merit shudder: She had seen that Smile during the final Battle in Egypt, as Chris had wreaked havoc among Pharaoh´s Sacred Guards … “Let me tell you …”

The others listened intently. There was Silence after Chris had ended. She looked from one to another. It was Ragna who spoke first “This is risky, but we will have the Element of Surprise” “And they won´t expect that” Anna added – “They don´t know that you are no longer alone”
Merit chimed in.

“That too!” Ragna smiled at the Egyptian – she looked back at Chris “I am all in!” Anna smiled, that mischievous Smile of hers “You know me, Chris! Beam me up, Scotty!” Her Expression grew hard “If von Treskow has harmed Sophie a bullet between the Eyes would be the least of her Problems!”

Sophie dearest would disagree with the "sweet" Part - but our favourite Lawyer is tough. One may ask why von Treskow did not kidnap Chris as well. Probably it is her love for Head Games, to play with her food so to speak. But two can play these Games - and I doubt she has fully realized who she is dealing with.

It seems that Theda has learned from the Reichenbach how to treat a guest well. Poor Sophie. Although dealing with violent, tortorous bondage is already beyond awful I suspect some sort of humiliation of the DA, maybe in tbe presence of the disliked police inspector.

This is one part I do not understand. Stealing her phone is beyond stupid. Nowadays, there are so many ways to track a phone that they have to reset it, losing the information they so badly want.

It also is weird that Chris is not taken as well. My only in-story explanation is hubris on the site of the baddies, but it is more likely she is needed for the rescue.

@Beaumains, yes the Phone - but I guess it was disposed off somewhere after the Abduction quickly :D

As to not capturing Chris: First von Treskow needs Chris to recover the Papers they are after for them, secondly she likes to demonstrate her Superiority, and has a knack for Mindgames. She likes to show Chris´ her helplessness ....

The Heidelberg Affair - Troubles of the Past

Chapter 6:

“Charade”

The next Morning Villa von Treskow:

Sophies Quarters, 0800 Hours:

Sophie had been awake now, for what her inner Clock told her, half an hour. The Lawyer was in a World of Darkness, Silence, and Pain. The Taste of Rubber filled her Mouth. Leather compressed her from all Sides. One thin strap held her leather-encased Feet in the en pointe Position. At the Crown of her Head, a second fixed her Head to the Bed´s Headboard.

“No”, Sophie thought “I didn´t like the Sleeping Arrangements!” After dinner, she put on a fresh diaper and waited for Lisa and Olga, or “Uberb*tch One” and “Uberb*tch Two” as she had dubbed them.

However, the blonde Lisa was by far the worst part of the duo.

As they entered Olga rolled a large Trolley into the Room. Sophie tried to keep a straight Face, but something must have shown on her Face “Only the Best for you Doctor Reichenbach”. The dark-haired Lawyer was too tired to play Games “I did expect no less from you!” she quipped -and looked with Disgust at the Trolley:

On it: A heavy leather Helmet, a Straitjacket, with a high Posture Collar, a leg Sheath, and various heavily padded Leather Straps.

“Up up Lazy Bones!” the blonde teased her. Sophie saw no Point in resisting and scrambled to her Feet, her Body screamed “Pain” “I have endured worse!” she admonished herself and stood tall. Cooly, she looked the Blonde straight in the Eye “Bring it on!”

The heavy, shiny black Leather Straitjacket was first. Von Treskow´s PA enjoyed it to pull each Strap as tight as possible, especially the Crotch strap. Sophie winced as Lisa pulled it tight but stared ahead. The Diaper made it even more uncomfortable.

In the meantime, Olga had begun to strap Sophie´s legs together. The first Strap directly under her Crotch, pressed on one of the many Haematomas. The down-filled Suit reduced the Pressure, but not much. The finish were heavily padded Metal Shackles around her Ankles.

Lisa walked to the Trolley and returned with the heavy Helmet “You will like it, Doctor!” Sophie just stared back, not in the Mood for any Banter. The Blonde closed the Helmet behind Sophie´s Head: Tight.

The Contraption had a built-in pumpgag with a large bladder in the center and two smaller ones on its sides. Sophie could still see through the built-in Lenses “I love this Helmet!” Lisa droned on “You will learn why Sophie!” “I can still hear!” the Lawyer concluded but that would change …. She already hated that Lisa – after she had pummelled her with the Tonfa. The Lawyer despised Sadists of any kind. Von Treskow´s PA was an especially nasty Specimen of this kind.

Lisa and Olga lifted her on the bed and manhandled her bound legs in the Sheath, which was connected to the Straitjacket. From her Shoulders downwards her two Handlers applied leather Straps. The last around her Insteps “Overkill” Sophie fumed. In many places, the Straps added additional Pressure on the many Bruises and Haematomas.

Her World grew dark, as the lenses turned black. At the same time, the Bladders in her Mouth expanded. Sophie had the feeling of suffocating. Suddenly the Pressure receded as the Bladders deflated a bit ….

“Good night, Sophie!” White noise cancelled any Sound out – the Chloroform doused Cloth on her Face she welcomed and took long and deep Breaths ….

When she awoke in the Morning, she felt surprisingly rested. But sore and stiff – and she needed a fresh Diaper … Sophie shifted uneasily as much as her Confinement allowed

“What will the Day bring?” Sophie could do nothing but wait. The dark-haired Woman tried to concentrate on the Hope that Chris would devise a Plan to rescue Ruth and her – from this Hellhole.

The Lawyer was no one who considered herself prone to Despair easily. But at other Occasions, the Odds had been better. What gave her Hope? The Arrogance of her Captors. They had no Idea who they were up against.

Upstairs:

Theda von Treskow entered the Control Room “Any Problems?” “No, Boss” Olga, who had done the Nightshift replied, “What are your instructions?” The Red-Head smiled “Release our VIP, let her freshen up and have Breakfast” Von Treskow´s Smile grew ominous “Then let her have a ride on the Chair of Hell – a full Gallop!”

Olga nodded “All right! What is with the Detective?” Theda grinned maliciously “Let Lisa practice with the Tonfa on her, while the good Doctor enjoys the ride! At 1100 I will call von der Marwitz. She must be worried sick by now! Make sure we have some good Footage to show her! To put that Blonde into her Place will be fun!”

Had Theda known what Chris and her Team had planned, she would not have been so self-righteous ….

One hour later Sophie stumbled over the Threshold of another Room. The floor felt cold under her nyloned Soles. Lisa removed her Blindfold. Sophie´s Eyes widened: The whole cavernous Room looked like an Execution Chamber from the Movies, but the 21st Century Version – Sophie made a Step backward. Her reaction amused Lisa “We can do this the easy, or the real easy Way Doctor!” In her right, the Blonde held some sort of Cattle prod “Strip!”

Sophie looked at her – and back at the hellish Chair, weighing her Options “I have none” she concluded and began to disrobe … a steely resolve filled her “I will not break!” she vowed to herself. 20 Minutes later Sophie had been shackled and strapped to the Chair. Sitting was uncomfortable: Dozens of small Knobs ensured that. Already Sophie shifted uneasily.

Her forehead was pressed against the Headrest by a tight leather Strap. A large Harness-Ball-Gag jacked apart Her Jaws – after Olga had stuffed a pair of black full-back Panties. Sophie´s own “Enjoy the Taste!” the Bohemian chuckled.

Lisa taped something on the Skin above her left Breast “To monitor your heart frequency -we don´t want you to suffer Cardiac Arrest – not now at least!” Lisa smiled gleefully and stepped back “We have programmed a fine Circuit for you Doctor Reichenbach! It will be the Hell of a Ride! The AI will take really good care of you! Ruth got the short Version; you will get the full Experience!”

The Door closed behind her. Sophie steeled herself, as the Phallus moved in and out of her, slowly at first, but then faster and faster. It did not only vibrate but deliver Electroshocks as well. The other Electrodes delivered Shocks of varying intensity – and those Bristles under her soles … - they rolled from the tips down to her Heels, getting faster and faster It was a wild Ride. Lisa had not lied. But it was a Ride to Hell and back again. Sophie had no Idea how long her Ordeal lasted. Now and then – the Lawyer could not tell how long and then, the tickling stopped while the Electroshocks got stronger ….

The multiple Sensations made it impossible for her to concentrate enough to reach her Safe Place. Thanks to the sensory overload though, her mind and body shut down. The Monitor displaying her Heart´s Frequency blinked red several times. The System controlling the Chairs' Functions reduced the Levels of Stimulation each time – only to increase the Level of Stimulation again when the Lawyer had somewhat recovered.

As her Handlers returned two hours later, Sophie was barely conscious. When she was released and strapped into the Wheelchair, she only dimly registered that … almost gently Lisa and Olga lifted her onto her bed in the Cell. She curled together like a Foetus, shivering.

Olga knelt down at her Bed “Come on Sophie get up! I help you into the Shower, then you can rest!” “Getting soft?” her Comrade teased the Bohemian “No, but we need her in Shape, otherwise she is of no use.” Olga returned calmly “Come help me!”

At Times Lisa´s obvious Sadism made Olga uncomfortable. But von Treskow paid well. And von Reichenbach was not in immediate Danger. Olga told herself. Any doubts she suppressed firmly. Loyalty and Obedience were paramount in the Organization. And she knew what happened to “Traitors”.

Together they dragged Sophie, who slowly got more responsive, under the Shower. The Woman who looked so much like Sophia Loren, sat on the Cabin´s Tiles, her Arms slung around her Knees. A wicked grin crossed Olga´s lips “We should warm her up! Bodily Warmth helps!”

Quickly she stripped and joined Sophie in the Shower. The Lawyer did not offer any resistance and let it happen … With surprising strength, the Bohemian pulled Sophie to her feet, activated the Shower, and pressed her Breasts against Sophie´s.

Later:

Olga pulled the Covers over Sophie, who had curled together. She was still pale “I bet she is a real Vixen in the Sack!” the dark-haired Bohemian grinned “Too bad we have no time to explore that” Lisa joined in.

The PA looked at her Watch “It is 1100 now, we wake the good Doctor in two hours, let have her Lunch – and restrain her again!” “I wonder how von der Marwitz will react to the Bosses Proposal …” Olga added thoughtfully.

“She will comply!” Lisa chuckled maliciously “What else should she do?” That blonde Bimbo can play the Piano. So what? She is easy Prey. We got her twice red-handed easily.”

Sophie barely registered that Conversation. Her Handlers had manhandled her into a Pair of black PJs. The Shower had eased her discomfort somewhat – her mind drifted off. This Time she found the Way to her Sanctuary easily:

She strode down the northern side nave till she reached the heavy oaken Door near the High Altar. The Door Handle had the Shape of a Fish. She pressed it down and pulled the heavy Door open. Sophie stepped over the Threshold, two steps down. Before the simple Altar, fashioned from one massive Block of Sandstone the Lawyer bowed and made the Sign of the Cross. Sophie sank to her knees in Prayer ….

The Schwalbennest, Minutes Earlier:

“And this will work?” The Scepticism in Chris´ Voice was noticeable. She sat in one of the Office Rooms in Front of her Laptop, awaiting von Treskow´s Call “Yes Chris” Sybil smiled reassuringly “Von Treskow will think you are still in the Hotel, she will see a virtual recreation of the Suite on the Screen”.

Sybil grinned “What!” the Pianist snapped “You are nervous like a School Girl at the Prom.” The Tech-Guru teased her Friend and Boss “Continue – and you are in for a good Spanking when this is all over!” Chris grumbled – and looked at her Watch:

“Any Minute now!” She had donned her Business outfit, today a Saphire Blue Powersuit with matching 105 Gianvito Rossi Heels. Chris had applied her Makeup extra carefully. She had to do it thrice.

Her Hands had quivered.

In some Ways, it was like the Moments before she stepped onto the Podium into the Limelight. Her Hands did not quiver then though. “Incoming Call” Sybil announced, “Put her through!” The Face of Theda von Treskow appeared on the Screen.

She was obviously in her Private Study and wore a green Powersuit “Good Day Frau von der Marwitz, it is a pleasure to see you personally!” “The Pleasure is all mine.” “Her Smile does not reach her Eyes” Theda analyzed. Against her Will, she was impressed. Chris von der Marwitz was a classical Beauty. Her Makeup was perfect.

And those Eyes, these green Gems … at the Moment they looked like frozen Pools of green Light. And the Lawyer noticed another Thing: The Blonde seemed entirely at ease, cool, and controlled – and Theda could not read her. The Lawyer was proud of her Skill in reading People. Chris von der Marwitz she could not read.

“You texted you had a Proposal to make?” “Von der Marwitz's Tone is entirely neutral – she displays no emotion whatsoever” Von Treskow could not help herself: She was fascinated by a professional and personal Level.

“I do” von Treskow smiled “I have something you want. You have something I want. I want to discuss it with you at Lunch.”

The laconic Response?

“When and where?” “

“You know the Ai Portici?”

“I do” came the curt reply.

“Meet me there at 1400, I am a regular Customer!”

Chris shook her Head, her voice cool and sharp:

“Before I agree to anything, I want proof that Sophie and Ruth are well” Von Treskow smiled, condescendingly, Chris found, “I thought you would never ask!” The Lawyer produced a Tablet. She pressed a Button. A Video Clip appeared on the Screen, a Splitscreen:

On the left, a naked Sophie strapped into a massive Chair, screaming into her Gag, and on the right a naked Ruth in a standing Spreadeagle. Lisa was beating her with a Tonfa. The Transmission ended and von Treskow appeared on the Screen again “They are alive – probably not well though. Their further Wellbeing depends on you Frau von der Marwitz. Comply and everything will be fine!”

Her smile was that of a Sadist.

Von Treskow was surprised. She had expected a very emotional Reaction from the Blonde. She got none. A beautiful face like a Mask made of Marble “Her Eyes though, they seem even colder” The Lawyer noticed.

“All right” Chris von der Marwitz finally agreed calmly “We will meet at 1400 at Ai Portici.” Von Treskow wanted to say something, but the Blonde cut across her, not loud, but cool and controlled and in command:

“Listen very carefully von Treskow: If anything happens to Sophie or Ruth, and I mean anything, you will regret it - if Lisa touches one of them again. And before you ask: This is no Threat; this is a Promise. As a Lawyer, you should know the Difference – my Katana is sharper than any razor Blade.”

Those emerald, green Eyes seemed to drill into Theda von Treskow´s Soul “You should ask your Buddy Carl von Winterfeldt what I am capable of” the Blonde continued almost conversationally “I bet you have him on Speed Dial, or the old Reichenbach too.

Probably you have a Speed Dial to Hell as well” Now a small smile curled Chris von der Marwitz´ Lips “I just sent you a Video. Watch it and think very carefully about what you do! Very carefully!” She added.

The Transmission broke off.

“That B*tch just hung up on me!” Von Treskow fumed. A Ping indicated an incoming Message. It was a fairly large file. The Sender was unknown. Theda opened the File and froze. At first, she thought she was watching a Movie, but then she recognized the two People duelling each other.

One was a tall Blonde, wielding a Katana, the other a tall blonde Man, wielding a Sabre. Chris von der Marwitz and Carl von Winterfeldt …Mesmerized the Lawyer watched the Video. It ended with a Close-Up of von Winterfeldt´s disfigured Face.

A gruesome bloody Hole, where his Eye had been.

At first, Theda did not notice it, but her Hands shivered “Who is this?” She had not heard Lisa entering “Carl von Winterfeldt” the Lawyer muttered “What happened to him?” Her PA seemed curious, not shocked “Chris von der Marwitz disfigured and dismembered him” The Redhead explained, slowly regaining her composure.

“Von der Marwitz sent it to me” she continued “I should watch it and think carefully about what I do” “Just a Warning then” The Blonde concluded calmly “Yes!” The Lawyer snapped “She warned me!” “Do we take it seriously?” “What should she do? She is alone!” Her Boss snapped at Lisa “We proceed as planned! I meet with her – and she will comply believe me! She has a Weakness: Reichenbach is important to her!”

“Should we rough the Lawyer a bit more off?” Lisa smiled evilly.

“Not yet!” von Treskow snapped “We wait! If she does not play ball though …...”

Theda von Treskow fumed. If she was honest? The Pianist had gotten under her Skin – but she would pay! Not that she would admit freely the Blonde had intimidated her.

The Schwalbennest around the same Time:

“Excellent Job!” Anna smiled broadly “You got really under her Skin!” Ragna agreed “Thank you” Chris demurred “But she made the oldest Mistake in the Book: She underestimated her Foe” The Blonde smiled coldly “Sensei Nakamura would have to say a thing or two to that.” She looked at her Watch: We will proceed as planned, Anna!”

“I expect not anything less” the Violinist smiled. The Russian loved Scenarios like that, they had planned. The Thrill, the Tension – and she would skin anybody alive who touched Sophie or any other Friend. Or put a bullet between the Eyes.

What Chris had planned though was even better. Anna knew that Chris had been touched by what had happened here in Heidelberg, touched deeply, but she would pull through.

Villa von Treskow around 1300, Sophie´s Quarters:

Sophie had slept deep and dreamless. Her body hurt in far too many Places. Like after a heavy Workout – and the Bruises from Yesterday … she only dimly remembered that Olga had showered with her and taken some Liberties with her Body.

The Bohemian had been not rough but gentle – and Sophie had to admit, she had needed help, after the Ride on the Chair from Hell. She stared at the Ceiling “Come on Sophie you are no Quitter! Chris will come and the others too – it is just a matter of Time!” She tried to convince herself.

Resolutely she pulled the Covers aside, and sat up, carefully. She put her feet on the Floor. A Pair of comfy green Slippers stood there, which matched her green PJs. With a groan, she stood and tapped slowly into the Bathroom to relieve herself. Sitting on the Loo and standing up was hard work.

Sophie mustered herself critically in the Mirror: “You do look like Hell!”

A tired smile crossed her Lips.

The Opening of the Door to her Cell interrupted her Musings. Slowly she tapped back into the Room “How I have missed you” the Lawyer quipped “Don´t get cocky!” Lisa scolded her, but her Tone was light.

Olga rolled in a Trolley “Lunch, Doctor Reichenbach” The Bohemian smiled and pulled the Cover away “We thought you would enjoy Lasagna! – The Salad is fresh! And the Red Wine is a Brunello di Montalcino from Orcia”.

Sophie´s Stomach growled “Tuck in!” the Bohemian grinned. With that, the Duo left Sophie to her own Devices. Only now she discovered how hungry she was. The Lasagna was excellent, the Salad too …

She knew this would be only a short respite. In the Afternoon new Unpleasantness would follow ….

The Brunello was very fine – and it dulled the Pains a bit …

“Chris, where are you?” Sophie whispered.

Yes, where was Chris?

Ristorante Ai Portici, Heidelberg 1345 Hours:

Bruno Maderna ran the Ai Portici for over 20 Years. Among the Italian Restaurants in a Radius of 60 Kilometres, it had a towering Reputation. Bruno, born in a small Village in the Abruzzi, he had worked hard – but it had paid off.

He prided himself on remembering the Name of any Customer he had ever served. He inspected the Tables laid outside – and nodded contently, he looked at his Watch. Signora von Treskow had booked a Table for two at 1400 Hours. The red-headed Lawyer was a regular Costumer – for years.

The sharp clicks of High Heels interrupted his Musings. He looked up: A tall blonde Woman strode at him. Her glimmering golden Hair in a loose Bun. She was tall, athletic, tanned Skin, her Eyes hidden by stylish Shades. There was something familiar about her.

The Woman wore a white Power Suit, with wide legs – an emerald, green Blouse – a large emerald rested on her Breastbone. On her feet: White sling-back open-toed Platform-Heels by Gianvito Rossi. He noticed she wore Pantyhose.

Bruno smiled:

He recognized her now.

With that broad dazzling Smile, which outshined the sun, she strode at him “Bruno” she hugged him firmly “It has been a while! Signora von Treskow booked a Table for Two at 1400 Hours!” The Blonde sat her Shades atop her Forehead – Bruno looked at the greenest Pair of Eyes he had ever seen “Signora von der Marwitz!” he greeted her warmly “It has been a while indeed! Let me show you to your Table!”

Chris followed the Patron to a small Table “Prego Signora!” He pulled the Seat back, so Chris could sit. She had chosen the Seat from which she could see anything, with no one behind her back “Bruno” the Blonde smiled warmly “Why don´t you bring me one Glass of the fabulous Prosecco you don´t register on the Menu? And the Menu please?” Chris graced Bruno with a warm smile. Her pearl-white Teeth shimmered.

To resist that Charme was impossible for any Man.

Bruno bowed slightly.

“Of course, Signora!”

Thank you, Bruno!” Chris beamed at him “That would be simply perfect!” Chris hid her Eyes behind her Shades and scanned the Area. No one in sight so far.

That von Treskow had chosen this Restaurant had been a stroke of luck. The Lawyer could not know that Chris had been here frequently, whenever she was at Heidelberg – with Robert, she had dined here often. She suppressed the Twinge of Sadness resolutely. “Not now!” she told herself “Focus! Focus on the Present!”

A few Minutes later Chris took a sip of her Secco and made a good show of studying the Menu. Not that she needed it. She had already decided what she would order. Five Minutes to Two. She pegged von Treskow as the punctual Type “I am looking forward to the Look on her Face” Chris smiled:

“Do always do the unexpected” Sensei Nakamura had lectured her more than once “Von Treskow thinks she holds all the Cards” Chris smiled: “She does not know, she doesn´t!” Surprise was a powerful Weapon. At Times more powerful than any Gun.

Her perfect Hearing registered the purposeful steps of High Heels on the Pavement. Steady. Regularly. There she was. Not as tall as herself, but over average, a full Bossom, a green Dress, which formed a nice Contrast to her red Mane in a Ponytail – and matching Heels.

Her Shades hid her Eyes. Bruno had spotted her too “Signora von Treskow! What a pleasure! Your Guest has already arrived!”

It was barely noticeable, but Chris was sure to see something flashing about the Lawyer´s Face, Anger? Surprise? Both? Elegantly the Blonde rose “Thank you, Bruno!” Another Surprise “I have known Bruno for Years!” Chris smiled “So good to see you, Theda!” She hugged her Host tightly, tighter than necessary.

The Lawyer winced. They exchanged pecks on the Cheeks. Von Treskow sat “Bruno” Chris smiled “Why don´t you bring Theda some of that Secco? I am buying!” Bruno beamed at her “Of course Signora von der Marwitz! Of course!”

“I come always here when I am in the City” the Pianist smiled “You made a good Choice! I have seldom eaten a better Saltimbocca! What is your Favourite? Tell me!” She beamed at the Red-Head.

Theda von Treskow could kick herself in the Head. She had been so sure to establish Dominance from the Start. Instead, von der Marwitz had turned the Tables a second Time. Bruno interrupted her Musings as he served her Secco “Prego Signora!”

Smiling, Chris raised her Glass “To you!”

“To you!” von Treskow returned – a bit forced.

“You have already chosen, Theda? No? I could recommend the Spaghetti Vongole for Primi and Bistecca alla Fiorentina for Secondi!” The Pianist smiled at Bruno “If you would give us a few more Minutes?” Theda noticed her broad smile; she graced the Patron with a look at her Bosom – she wore no Bra - “B*tch!” the Lawyer fumed. “That arrogant B*tch!”

She looked at the Pianist “She smiles!” Her face is an inscrutable Mask. A beautiful Mask “We have Lunch and then we talk” her tone conversationally, the Pianist smiled “What did Oscar Wilde say? Never talk about Business, Politics, and Religion during Dinner?” Her smile got broader “He knew what he was talking about!”

She smiled “How did Theda von Treskow end up here in Heidelberg?”

“By Chance” The Redhead smiled “I always wanted to study here, and so I stayed!”

For the next Hour, Chris and her Host made polite Conversation. They made it through Antipasti, Primi, and Secondi and Desert. Von Treskow was – on a certain Level – fascinated.

The Blonde was totally relaxed and at ease. A business Lunch like any other. Finally, she took a sip of the Grappa which was not listed on the Menu. She savoured the Taste, put her Glass down, and fixed the Lawyer. The Mood changed from one second to the next.

The green Eyes grew colder.

She still smiled though.

“You wanted to propose a Deal. Propose!”

Again, the Pianist had caught her on the wrong Foot.

Theda pulled herself together: “It is quite simple actually” She smiled “We established that Doctor Reichenbach does not know where Robert von Harenberg hid the Papers he found” “Established? You mean Torture” Von Treskow was sure, the green Eyes got some degrees colder:

“I despise Cowards” stated the Pianist calmly as if talking about the Weather, taking another Sip of her Grappa “Of course, you did not torture Sophie yourself. You have not the Guts for that.” Now von der Marwitz's Voice dripped with utter disgust “But continue” she smiled again “So you established that Sophie does not know where the Papers are. Why are we talking?”

She smiled still.

Theda von Treskow fumed. That whole Meeting went so totally differently than she had planned.

Chris waited. Calmly – and took another Sip of her Grappa -it was really excellent. Bruno always kept a bottle of that Brand for special Guests.

“The Deal is simple Frau von der Marwitz!“ Theda tried to establish Dominance “You find those Papers, return those that PI stole in five days – and we will return Doctor Reichenbach to you. If not …” she paused ominously …

Chris's Laughter was like a cold Shower “You sell her to your Buddy Carl.”

The Blonde smiled coldly “Carl has many Flaws, but at least did accept a Challenge – he was no Coward. You?” Chris's Voice was cold and flat “You are a Coward – too incompetent to do the dirty Work yourself.” Now”, the Blonde smiled “Send Lisa and Olga my Greetings – we will meet soon.”

“You have no Choice!” Theda countered fuming “She is off Balance” Chris smiled “Good!”

“We always have a Choice” Chris returned cooly “You will learn”

Von Treskow was nonplussed “What do you mean?”

The Pianist smiled ominously

“Now,” she said calmly.

She fixed a Point behind the Lawyer.

Theda von Treskow did not understand.

A second later she did.

The Lawyer felt a searing sharp Prick in her Neck. She touched the Spot: Something fluffy. Theda ripped it out and stared at an orange fluffy Dart “What!” she stammered – a heat like molten Lava shot through her Body, followed by a wave of intense Cold.

She began to sweat, and she shivered. The Read Head wanted to rise, but her Body did not react “What have you done to me?” she pressed through clenched Teeth.

The Blonde observed her coldly “I did poison you, what else? A pretty nasty Compound. It was handed down from Nero to the Court of Versailles. Madame Maintenon used it freely. Believe me, what you feel right now is nothing! In six hours, you will die – if you don´t get the Antidote.”

Wide-eyed the Lawyer stared at her, only slowly comprehending what had happened to her.
The Blonde eyed her cooly “I am your only Chance to get the Antidote in Time” her Voice cool and controlled and entirely bare of any Emotion “Your two Lackeys will deliver Sophie and Ruth to a location of my choosing, unharmed and unspoiled – then, and only then – you get the Antidote.”

Villa von Treskow around the same Time:

Lisa paced the Floor: “The Boss should have called by now!” Olga shrugged “We have to wait then!” As if on Cue Lisa´s Phone rang “The Boss!” The PA took the call and froze. Instead of Theda von Treskow´s face, she looked at Chris von der Marwitz “Listen Lisa!”

The Blonde sounded cool and controlled “Your Boss is a bit indisposed. You will deliver Sophie and Ruth to a Location I will specify later. If you don´t? Your Boss will die a painful death in six Hours tops, one never knows with these ancient Poisons …”

She smiled:

“Your Boss wants to tell you something!” Theda von Treskow´s face appeared on the Screen: Her Eyes unfocused, her face was pale, and she was sweating and shivering – obviously in significant Pain “Do everything she says!” she wheezed.

Von der Marwitz´ Face appeared on the Screen again “Listen very carefully Lisa,” her expression grim and stern: “If I find out you touched Sophie or Ruth again, harmed them in any Way – I will take you apart piece by piece. I will dismember you. I will disfigure you – before I behead you. This is a Promise. Wait for my next Message.”

Von der Marwitz cut the Call.

Dumbfounded Lisa and Olga looked at each other “What shall we do Lisa?”

Lisa stared into the Distance …. What the Pianist had said, how she said it? It gave her the Creeps. And that said something.

Brilliant chapter. Great to see the complacency and arrogance of the bad guys allow the good guys to turn the table at every move - the call, the lunch, the proposal, the toxin and the ultimatum. Bravo!

In fact, I do like writing Sophie very much - in the beginning, Sophie should have been a nonrecurring Character. Now I am glad I turned her into a Part of the Main Cast. There is still so much Potential.

That seems to be a swift victory for team Chris. So it indeed was hubris. I liked how Chris dealt with her convincingly.

The Game is not played - yet @Beaumains :D Yes, Chris and Company were creative. Anna shot the Dart. That Italian Chris and von Treskow met? I recommend. And the Saltimbocca is fantastic :D

In a way? Yes - but mostly they use Diapers for practical Reasons. Of course it is humilating for an Adult being forced to wear a Diaper. And that Humilation surely is intentional. On the other Hand: There are practial Reasons - especicially for longterm Bondage. Less messy. Thanks for commenting @CathD ! Enjoy the next Parts!

The Game is not played yet - maybe Chris and Friends will be able to save the Hostages. What comes afterwards though is an entirely different Game ...

The Heidelberg Affair - Troubles of the Past

Chapter 7:

“High Noon”

Ristorante Ai Portici, Heidelberg 1530 Hours:

Chris smiled warmly at Bruno “It was as delicious as ever!” The Patron smiled “Can I do anything else for you?” “Please bring me the bill, we have to hurry – Theda is a bit indisposed, the Flu perhaps … I will bring her Home.”

The Lawyer muttered something and groaned.

The Pianist left a generous Tip and helped Thea up. She had to steady her the whole Way. The Lawyer was surprised at how strong the Pianist was. The Blonde controlled her effortlessly “Do not forget Theda I am the one with the Antidote! Here we are!”

Next to a black Mercedes GLE Coupé.

Chris manhandled the Lawyer on the Passenger Seat, Theda von Treskow moaned “Believe me” The Pianist smiled “The Pain you are feeling is nothing – it will get worse with Time!”

The Read Head stared at her, wide-eyed “How do you know?” she stammered – “I got poisoned myself with the Stuff once” Chris explained “One more Reason to believe me!” She walked around the Car, entered, and buckled up.

Chris felt no Pity for the Lawyer ….

The next Thing Theda von Treskow felt, was a sharp Prick in her right thigh. Everything got black. She fell into an Abyss.

Chris started the Car, turned, and drove back to City Centre.

“Target acquired,” Chris said aloud “I am on my Way!”

Natalie Jungklausen was intrigued. What had happened between von der Marwitz and von Treskow? It had looked like a normal Lunch. Then the Lawyer ripped something out of her Neck. She was obviously unwell because the Pianist had to steady her. Then they drove off.

What next? The logical Choice would be to check von Treskow´s Villa. Von der Marwitz had checked out of her Hotel – and vanished.

Villa von Treskow: Sophie´s Quarters around the same time:

Sophie had lost track of Time. Sensory Deprivation had that effect. Her Muscles hurt; the Haematoma hurt. After Dinner, she had been restrained again in Leather. At least her Handlers forego the Straps that held her feet en pointe and her Head to the Bed´s Headboard.

Thankfully she had not been chloroformed again – as tired as she was, she dozed off quickly anyway. How long she had slept she did not know …. “Chris don´t leave us to rot down here! I am not sure how long I can hold!”

Sophie was not sure if she could stand another ride on the Chair of Hell or another Round with the Tonfa …. The Lawyer forced herself to focus. Chris would not let her down! That was not in her Nature.

Since she was deaf, she did not hear that someone entered the Cell. The first hint, something was about to Change. The Straps around the leather confining her were loosened one by one. Sophie welcomed the receding pressure. Especially the Strap around her upper thighs. It had pressed tightly on the Hematoma on her left upper thigh and its counterpart on the right.

Sophie lay still as the leg Sheath was pulled off. She was sat up so that her nyloned Feet rested on the Floor “Can´t they remove that damned Helmet?” The Lawyer fumed – “Something has changed. They are acting differently!” No gloating, no bad puns. She was curious. And suddenly she felt a faint hope, hope that his nightmare would be over soon …

“Of course, they do not remove the Helmet first!” Instead, someone released the Straps of the Straitjacket. One by one. Slowly the Pressure on her Ribcage receded. That felt so good! Her Arms flopped down – she felt the Air on her hot skin. The Blood rushed back, and she groaned into the Gag with relief.

Sophie opened and closed her Fists, to get a feeling into them.

One Person fumbled at the Straps which closed the accursed Helmet -the Pressure released. Sophie had to blink as the Helmet was pulled off. She licked her dry lips and had to blink – the sudden Brightness hurt her Eyes. Finally, she could see clearly. Sophie looked up to face Lisa and Olga.

Something had definitely changed “They try to project Calm and Control – but that is only on the Surface!” “Doctor Reichenbach – it seems, this is your lucky Day!” Lisa smiled, a bit forced “You will leave us it seems!” she pointed to the Table “There are your Clothes and your Belongings – in the Bathroom, you will find fresh Underwear and a Set of Hose!”

The Blonde paused “You will freshen up, dress, and put the Restraints on – you see on the Table- Be ready in one hour – there is a clock on the Table too!” Her Captors left; they had not bothered to remove the restraints of her legs.

Sophie bowed, to remove the toe tie.

“Damn it!” she sighed, even such a simple task was Pain “I will manage!” She vowed to herself. It took her a while. Sophie waddled into the Bathroom and unzipped the Suit. Pulling it down, getting out of the Suit – and rid of the soiled Diaper! The Experience had been not new for her. But it was humiliating every time – and that was her Kidnapper´s intention. But as Hayley had told her once: Wearing a Diaper was better than the Alternative

One Step after the other. The hardest task? To bow down and roll down the Pantyhose …. Undressing was hard work, every Movement remembered her of her Ordeal – in the last 48 Hours.

“One hour,” she thought, it had almost seemed like almost too much time. As she undressed, she realized “I will need every Minute!”

Sophie needed every Minute.

Every single Minute.

She winced as she stepped into her High Heels—first the left, then the right. With a groan, she sat down. With disgust, she eyed the restraints on the Table:

A heavily padded black Sleepmask, a heavily padded Panel Gag. The ball in its center looked depressingly large—a pair of Shackles for her wrists and one for her Ankles. Sophie sighed: The Lawyer shackled her Ankles – and winced – as she sat up again. Sophie saved the Gag for last.

She made it tight “I will not give that Lisa-B*tch a reason to act out her Sadism another time!”

She leaned back – and waited “I have beaten the Clock again!” Sophie smiled around the Gag. And waited. Time passed. Sophie willed herself to relax “I know something has changed! This will be over soon!”

The Door to her Cell opened. She was pulled upright. Her Handlers kept their Silence, which was new. Someone grabbed her very firmly by her left upper Arm. Lisa? Firmly. Sophie counted Steps, as she stumbled along 10 Steps. One turn to the left. A soft Hiss. An Elevator? She was pushed inside. A stinging slap on her Butt. She was tempted to stomp on her Handlers' Foot with her right High Heel …

Sophie felt it in her Gut: They were moving upwards. Two levels, she concluded. The Door opened. She was led outside. It smelled like a Parking Garage. Nobody had said something so far. What she found strange. Sophie was helped into a Van. She sensed the Presence of another Person: Ruth.

Gently but firmly, she was pressed down on a Seat: Olga.

Straps were pulled over each of Sophie´s shoulders and clipped into a central buckle that was on one of five straps. The seat seemed to have been specially designed to restrain people as these first two straps were followed into the central buckle by another strap from each side of her chest and a thankfully heavily padded strap from between her legs. Lisa then tightened all of the straps to hold Sophie in place. At last, the Crotch-Strap. Extra tight. The restrained Woman winced. Her Ankles were shackled to a Bolt in the Floor.

Sophie willed herself to calm down. She listened. They drove off, from a Garage. They were in a hurry ….

Heidelberg, Thingstätte, shortly before 1800 Hours:

Image

“Tell me, Theda. Was it worth all this? Murdering Robert? Ambushing me? Abducting and torturing Sophie and Ruth? Tell me, I am curious.” Chris von der Marwitz sounded really curious.

Theda von Treskow did not respond. She groaned and tried to breathe – she was almost catatonic. Chris felt no Sympathy. She knew exactly what the Lawyer was feeling: The Pain, the Agony ….

And she deserved every moment of it!

Chris banned those thoughts in a secluded Chamber of her Mind and concentrated on the Present. They had arrived at the “Thingstätte” around 1630 Hours. Everything was in Place. Now they could do nothing but wait. Her perfect Pitch registered the incoming Van before she could see it.

“So, they are punctual at least!” Chris smiled ….

They had no Idea ….

The Van:

They had driven up Serpentines. Sophie concluded. The Underground had changed from Tarmac to Gravel. The Lawyer felt it. She had never been in Heidelberg before. But she knew where von Treskow´s Villa was located. And they had not been on the Road for long. Sophie estimated 20 Minutes. She was not uncomfortable exactly, though her Body hurt. It could have been worse.

Sophie was no Stranger to Pain thanks to her Father-in-Law, who had made her life Hell. Till Sophie met Chris and her Friends …

The Van stopped, sharply. Sophie was pressed into her Seat. She winced.

The Endgame was on.

“Von der Marwitz has a strange kind of Humour!” Lisa scoffed “The Thingstätte!” Olga did not respond “Look!” Von Treskow´s PA followed Olga´s Finger: 20 Metres stood a black Mercedes GES Coupé in front of them - tinted Windows.

At the same time, their Hands-Free-Device sprung to life “So you made it in Time!” Chris von der Marwitz “She sounds every bit the arrogant Bitch she is” Von Treskow´s PA fumed “Listen!” Von der Marwitz's Voice was as cold as the Arctic Sea:

“Straight before for you, you see the Stone Pillar. This is the Exchange Point. Now get Sophie and Ruth out of the Car. Not restrained, not harmed. Remember! Your Boss is living on borrowed time – and she does not look too well!” Von Treskow´s face appeared on the screen: Pale, sweaty, contorted in pain, and her eyes were unfocused. Her Breath was ragged.

The Connection was cut.

“We should call her Bluff!” Lisa fumed “What makes you think she is bluffing? You saw the Bosse´s Face!” Olga sounded not so sure “We cannot risk it, her life!” Lisa muttered something “Right then! Let us get our Guests out of their comfy Seats!”

Sophie felt that somebody fumbled at the Straps which fastened her to her Seat.

Chris watched intently. One dark-haired Woman, followed by a blonde. One black-haired Woman was followed by another dark-haired Woman. The Blonde recognized Sophie, the way how she moved. Not graceful and elegant as usual. Chris recognized that Sophie moved awkwardly – a bit insecure.

Chris vowed to herself she would kill Sophie´s Tormentor.

Slowly.

Ruth Goldstein wore Sneakers, Jeans, and a blouse. Not her own obviously. She seemed to have even more trouble keeping herself together than Sophie “Sure thing” Chris mused “Ruth has been kidnapped before Sophie …

Chris fumed.

Time to get the show on the Road.

Lisa watched:

The Driver´s Door opened. A tall Woman got out. It was von der Marwitz. But she looked very different from the Woman she had clubbed and tasered. Her gleaming blonde mane was in a Ponytail, and she wore black body armour and two swords. Her green Eyes fixated on her coldly. She walked to the Passenger Side and opened it.

Standing tall, moving with the elegance of a large Predator. And Lisa felt that the other Blonde knew how to wield the two Blades she was carrying. Her green Eyes betrayed no Emotion, but something different. A Promise as she looked at Lisa “You will regret the Moment you crossed my Path!”

Von der Marwitz pulled Theda von Treskow out of the Car. Not rough, but firm. Lisa was shocked as she watched her Boss. Von Treskow could barely stand on her feet. She sweated profusely; she was staggering on her High Heels. Her Eyes were unfocused.

Von der Marwitz held her firmly upright at her left upper Arm “Keep yourself together. It will be over soon!” Chris whispered, “Pray your Minions play ball” She added “I will rip them apart if they don´t and you will die. In Agony and Pain!” She paused “Not that you don´t deserve it.”

Chris fixated Lisa, Olga, and their two Captives. She caught Sophie´s Gaze. The Lawyer nodded slightly and smiled – it was a tired smile. But Sophie would keep herself together. Quite a few People had underestimated Sophie Reichenbach´s Resolve and Strength. And paid the Price.

“Listen!” Chris´ Voice rang loud and clear above the Place of the Thingstätte “This is how we will do this!” Chris´ Gaze drilled into Lisa´s Eyes, like Laser Beams “Send over Sophie first. When Sophie has passed the Stone Pillar, I will send your Boss over! If you make a move, this will happen!” The Blonde added calmly “Take the Shot!”

A shot rang out above the clearing and hit the Stone Pillar in its Centre. Stone Splinters seared through the Air.

“Chris, you are about to get Company!” she heard Sybil´s Voice in her Ear.

The Pianist suppressed a Curse ….

“Nobody moves! Lay your Weapons on the Ground!” Natalie Jungklausen´s Voice rang across the Clearing. Chris fumed. The Investigator had her gun drawn.

“Did you invite her to the Party?” Lisa smiled at Chris.

“I surely didn´t” the Pianist huffed “Frau Kriminalhauptkommissarin! Why don´t you spare us this Trouble!”

“What is this!” Jungklausen shot.

Von Treskow´s PA yawned exaggeratedly “This is a good old Prisoner Exchange”

Chris held von Treskow firmly and stared at Jungklausen “Why don´t you spare us the Trouble? You are alone. And spare me the Crap the SEK (SWAT Team) is on its way. They surely are not, or this Place would be crowded with Special Forces!”

“They are on their way!” Jungklausen stated as firmly as she could “I am very sorry” The Pianist stated, “But you leave me no choice!” The movement of her right Wrist was so swift, that no human Eye could process it. A metal bolt hit Natalie´s Gun so hard she had to let go. The Gun clattered to the Floor.

A second swift Movement. The Investigator felt a sharp prick above her left Breast. In Disbelief she stared down: A bolt was protruding …. Natalie lost all control above her body. She crashed to the Floor.

Von Treskow staggered on her feet. Chris held her firmly in her Grasp as she faced her Opponents again “Send over Sophie now! Or do you need another incentive?”

Lisa stared back. Cold and hard. Chris´ smile was ominous “Lisa is slow on the uptake Anna, take the Shot. Aim at von Treskow´s left knee. Fire on my Mark at the count of Three!”

“One” Chris counted “Two!” Lisa fumed “Move Doctor Reichenbach!” she shoved Sophie in her Back. Sophie stumbled forward. Every Step was a Challenge. She stumbled once or twice. Chris noticed the Flashes of Pain crossing her Features.

Sophie kept moving. One step after the other. She concentrated on Chris´ green eyes. The Stone Pillar seemed Miles away “One!” Sophie counted to herself “Two!” “Three!”

Finally, she passed the Stone Pillar.

“Go. Now!” Chris whispered in von Treskow´s left Ear. The Lawer stumbled along. Chris knew how she felt. She felt no Pity though. Cooly, she watched as the Lawyer put one Step after the other. Sophie and Theda passed. The Tension in the Air was immense.

Chris was fully concentrated “Anything Sybil?” “No” came the cool reply “No other Tangoes” The Pianist smiled grimly “Anna?” The Russian confirmed, “No, I have that Lisa B*tch in my Crosshairs!”

Sophie stumbled along. She had almost reached Chris – how green her Eyes were! – “Sophie! Passenger Door. Manoeuvre Delta 25!” The Pianist whispered, her Eyes never leaving the opposite Site.

Chris watched as von Treskow stumbled along. Sophie would be up to the Task. They had trained such scenarios. Sophie bit on her lip. She pulled the Car Door open. She grabbed the Gun, her HK 23, left the Door open used it as cover.

Sophie grabbed the Gun firmly in both Hands. The Side Door gave her Cover. She aimed at Lisa. Her Gun did not waver the Fraction of a Millimetre “Give me one reason!” Sophie mused “Just one! And I end you here and now!”

Entirely emotionless Chris watched as Theda von Treskow reached the other Side. The Moment she arrived she scrambled on the Gravel. Olga rushed to her aid. Leaving her Charge, Ruth, out of her sight.

Chris smiled.

Purposefully she walked to the Stone Pillar and set down an Ebony Wooden Box on it.

Chris stepped backwards, in measured, precise Steps. Her Eyes never left her Opponent. She need not to see Sophie, he knew the Lawyer was covering her back “This Box!” she called clear and loud “The Antidote is inside. With Instructions on how to use it! Follow them! To the Letter!”

Lisa fumed. The Pianist had played them. She had no choice but to obey. Oh, how she would visit payback.

“Send now Ruth over! When Ruth has arrived here. Not a second before. You can get the Antidote. You make one step before? Anna will shoot! A 12,7 Millimetre Projectile will vaporize the Antidote!”

Lisa fumed “Move it!” she hissed at the Investigator – and gave her a shove in her Back.

Ruth moved even more awkwardly than Sophie. Her Clothes were clearly not her own. She kept herself upright though. Step by step she stumbled on. Chris´ Eyes never left their Opponents.

The Dark-Haired Woman tended to von Treskow. The Blonde fumed in impotent Rage. They had been outplayed and outnumbered. Chris could see how hard it was for von Treskow´s PA not to storm at her.

A small smile curled Chris´ lips “How does it feel to be impotent, not being able to do anything? We outplayed you. If you move in the direction of the Antidote, Anna will first destroy the Antidote, then shoot you in the Stomach – so you die a painful Death. You won´t get a fast exit!”

It was cheap, she knew – but she couldn´t help it.

Ruth had passed the Pillar. Finally, she had reached the Car. Her face was ghostly Pale, the Investigator sweated “Hold it together for a little while longer!” Chris encouraged her “I need your help; we have to get Jungklausen in our Car! Ready?”

“I am!” Ruth nodded.

“Right then!” Chris walked around the Car, carefully avoiding blocking Sophie´s line of fire. The Lawyer still aimed at Lisa. Unwavering “Get the Antidote!” Chris called. Lisa almost sprinted to the Pillar to fetch the wooden Box.

Chris and Ruth dragged the unconscious Body of Natalie Jungklausen to the Car. Bundled her inside “Get inside Sophie!” Chris smiled at the Lawyer “Time to leave!” The Pianist talked in her Ear Set “Anything Sybil?” “Nothing” the Tech-Guru confirmed “Anna? Stay for five more Minutes and relocate then to the Safe House!”

“Will do!” the Russian confirmed. Three Minutes later, they were on their way – down the Heiligenberg. The Pianist concentrated on the Road as they drove down the Serpentines. She had a look at the Camera installed in the Back – always.

Sophie shifted in her seat and winced “How are you, Sophie? We saw the Video von Treskow made” Chris asked firmly concentrating on the Road “They were pretty rough on us” the Lawyer shrugged “That Blonde is a Sadist; Olga is more the pragmatic Type” She paused “I understand now what you told us about the Tonfa ….”

“What do we do with our new Guest?” the dark-haired Woman nodded at the unconscious Jungklausen “I am very tempted to leave her here somewhere in the Woods to rot” the Blonde huffed: “No, we will take her with us.”

Sophie objected:

“You cannot keep her Hostage – the trail would lead directly to us!” “Sophie, I know” Now Chris smiled “We will let her go tomorrow – I will try to convince her though, that we are not the bad Guys in this Piece – or that she stays out of our Hair at least.”

“Chris” Anna´s Voice rang through the Intercom “We are one Minute behind you!” “Anna is driving like the Devil again!” Sophie chuckled. She gazed in the rear Mirror. Ruth was staring out of the Window – obviously deep in thought.”

Five Minutes later they were on the Main Road which led through Neuenheim, across the Neckar to the City Centre. The Lawyer looked at the Display – Anna was around 100 Metres behind them and kept the Distance.

Chris took a left Turn which led into Neckar Valley “Where is our Safe House?” Sophie asked, “High up in Ziegelhausen” The Pianist explained “It belongs to a Friend of Mine who is overseas. It´s perfect for our Purposes!”

15 Minutes later the Lawyer knew why.

The House was situated high in the Woods, surrounded by a high Wall. The massive Gates opened and closed behind the two Cars “Sybil has beefed up Security – we are safe for the Time being” Chris explained as she parked the Car in the Garage. To the left Anna killed the Engine of their ride. Anna and Ragna got out.

Moving slowly Sophie unfastened her Safety Belt – and stepped out of the Car “Good to have you back!” Anna hugged her. The Lawyer winced “You are hurting!” Anna observed and stepped back, giving Sophie the once-over …

“Anna” Chris interrupted “I need you and Ragna to bring Jungklausen to her Quarters!” “Sure thing!” Ragna smiled. Ruth had gotten out of the Car and watched the Icelandress and the Russian with keen eyes – obviously impressed by what she saw.

“Join us then in the living room” Chris stated, “Follow me!” she gestured at Sophie and Ruth. With a sigh, the Lawyer kicked her Heels off and sighed contentedly. On her stocking feet, she followed Chris.

Five Minutes later they reconvened in a large modern living Room. Sophie was impressed – and smiled as she spotted the shimmering Grand Piano “You did try it?” The Blonde shook her Head “Maybe I will give it a try after Dinner!” She smiled back “These are Merit and Sybil!” she introduced Anna´s Lady-in-Waiting and the IT-Genius. The black-haired Egyptian and the lithe Brunette waved a “Hi!”

“We wait for Anna and Ragna!” The Blonde explained As if on cue the Violinist and the herculean Blonde entered “Our new Guest is comfy and sleeping it off!” Anna smiled deviously “Fine” Chris nodded “Good to have you back Sophie and Ruth!”

She turned to her Friends, smiling warmly “Sophie and Ruth, Merit will show you your Rooms and then you take a bath. Then I will tend to you Sophie and Merit to Ruth!” Ruth was on the verge of arguing “This is not open to Discussion!” the Pianist cut across the Private Investigator “You two went through Hell and need Rest!” “Save your Breath, Ruth!” Sophie smiled “In the End you will do what Chris´ says anyway, believe me!”

Chris had to smile as she watched at the others:

“We others will get changed! Anna and Ragna will prepare Dinner – and Sybil you keep an Eye on Security!” “Yes Mum!” the IT Genius teased her Friend and Boss. The Blonde raised her Eyebrows – but said nothing.

Chris kidnapping a police officer is very on point for this story. It will not take long before having the full force of the German police after her will pose a bigger threat than the real baddies. I wonder how she will talk herself out of this one.

You will see - soon :D Though I beg to differ. Kidnapping is not the right term. What do you think? What would von Treskows Minions have done with Jungklausen? Chris might have done her a favour .... just a thought ....

The Heidelberg Affair - Troubles of the Past

Chapter 8:

“Action and Reaction”

Later:

Sophie eyed herself in the large Mirror from Head to Toe. The warm Tiles under her bare feet felt good. The hot bath had done wonders. The Colours of the Haematomas had already begun to change “What a B*tch!” Sophie mused, shaking her head “In perfect Symmetry from Shoulders to Ankles!” Anck-Sun-Amun had been a cruel B*tch – but Lisa was a close second. Sophie´s Mind drifted away …. The Session with the Tonfa, the Chair of Hell …

“If I had known what she had done to you? I would have taken her apart!” Sophie was startled: The Lawyer had been so engrossed in her Thoughts, that she had not registered Chris entering. The Blonde had changed into white yoga Pants, a red Sports Bra, and a matching fleece Jacket.

She was barefoot.

Sophie was always fascinated by how stealthily the Pianist could move. Gently Chris touched an ugly Bruise on the Lawyer´s left Kidney. The Touch was as light and feather-like as if the Pianist whispered a Pianissimo on the Grand Piano, the former District Attorney winced, nevertheless. The Blonde looked with Pity at Sophie “The next Time, we meet I end her.”

It was a Statement, not a Threat. It was a Promise “And Chris keeps her Promises” Sophie thought “Always.”

“You did not have any blood in the Urine?” Chris watched her intently “No” Sophie shrugged “I was surprised too.”

“Come!” The Pianist touched Sophie gently on her left Shoulder and pointed to the Massage Table “Lie down!” Sophie had to smile “She is the Warrior Princess of the North – but she is also so gentle and caring!” She allowed Chris to lead her to the Massage Table. Sophie winced as she lay face down – but she relaxed.

Chris looked down at Sophie´s backside, from the Ankles to the Shoulders – and shook her head in disbelief “Even Natasha had not been that brutal back then” A flash of Anger crossed her features. More brutal than Natasha? That said something.

But first and foremost, the Russian was a Professional. She knew exactly what she had been doing – and why. Lisa was a pure Sadist. Natasha was not. The Pianist blended the Pictures invading her mind out. Resolutely. Today had been a good day. She would not dwell in the Past, not in the Dungeons of Boris Oblomov´s Palace. Those Memories did not haunt her anymore, there were others instead.

Pleasant and not-so-pleasant ones.

With a smile, Chris opened a red flask, made of Japanese Pottery.

Instantly an aromatic Scent filled the Air “Pine” Sophie thought “Other herbs” The Pianist smiled warmly “Sensei Nakamura had this Balm made for me; he thought it might come in handy” Sophie chuckled “He did?”

Now Chris laughed right from the Heart “Why should he think that? He probably thought I might need it first!” The Blonde poured some of the Balm on her Palms and began to massage Sophie´s Back, beginning at her Shoulders, slowly, gently – as if she played the Final of Beethoven´s op. 111 “You have magic Hands!” the Lawyer sighed contentedly and relaxed.

Chris chuckled “Do I? Thank Sensei Nakamura Sophie! He had me taught this Art. You would not believe how I looked after some of his Lessons!” Sophie relaxed under Chris´ gentle Touch – and let the Pianist work her Magic. Whatever the Balm was made of? It did Wonders.

Sophie just enjoyed the Pianist´s gentle Touches. And felt safe and comforted.

“Chris?” Sophie ventured – tentatively a bit - after the Blonde had turned her at her back and she had a clear look at those incredible green Eyes. The Pianist sensed the Hesitation “What is it, Sophie?” She continued her Massage and kneaded certain Pressure Points at Sophie´s Feet, but her Gaze never left Sophie´s Face “Just ask!” Her Tone kind and warm.

She continued massaging the Lawyer´s left foot. From the Heel to the Toes.

Sophie looked her straight in the Eye, unblinking “Would you have let Theda von Treskow die today?” The Lawyer waited, Chris´ Expression did not change, she did not break Eye-Contact. The Pianist shook her Head “Sophie, I would not have,” Chris said softly “But they had to believe I would” She paused “I never could condemn even my worst Enemy to a Death like this.”

Chris felt Sophie´s Body relaxing “I had to ask!” Sophie blushed “It is okay Sophie” The Blonde did not stop massaging her gently “I of all People should know what being poisoned with this Stuff means, right?”

“You still hurt” The Lawyer stated intently “At times” Chris conceded calmly “But less and less frequently, “Ahmose told me though it would take time – and the Dose von Treskow got today was by far less, than the one I got poisoned with.”

Something flashed across Chris´ face. Pain? “Sophie, I would have done anything to save you – but I would never murder even a Theda von Treskow in cold blood. If necessary, we would have found a different Solution.”

“Thank you,” Sophie said softly “You are welcome” Chris returned equally softly – and a smile from the heart crossed her serene Features “Get up Lazy Bones! Get some Rest!

Two Hours Later:

Sophie slept deep and dreamless for two Hours. Why did she wake up? She did not know. The Lawyer pulled the Covers aside and sat up. She had not noticed that Chris had dressed her into her burgundy red PJs.

To her surprise, the Pains had receded – much so. She got up and dressed:

Nude hose, black leggings, two Pairs of thick green woollen Socks, and a matching Turtleneck. Sophie was surprised: Whatever Chris had done? It had worked. The Blonde had many Talents. The Lawyer had to smile. Chris was always one good for a Surprise.

Sophie left her Room, tapped down the large, curved Stairwell, and inhaled deeply. A Lesson von Treskow and her People had learned today – not that the Lawyer felt an Ounce of Pity with their Foes. A Part of her had hoped Lisa would try to get at Chris …. The blonde PA was a Sadist but not foolhardy enough to attack the Blonde – in a fair fight, not a staged one.

A smile crossed her face “Whatever Anna and Ragna have in the Oven? It smells heavenly!” She entered the Kitchen Area “Hello Soph!” Anna did not even turn “Sometimes you are worse than Chris!” the Lawyer scolded her good-naturedly “Do you hear anything?”

“Poor Child!” Anna smiled and turned to Sophie “My perfect Hearing is just perfect” The Russian looked her up and down. From her socked Toes to the Crown of her Head “You do really look considerably better!” Sophie smiled “I do feel really better, whatever Chris did? It did Wonders!”

Anna´s smile broadened “Chris has many Talents!”

“Have I?” They had not heard the Pianist coming. She too had changed: Thick woollen Socks, blue ones, white leggings, a blue Turtleneck “Sophie!” Chris smiled “I do need your help! We have to have a Conversation with Jungklausen before Dinner!” Sophie smiled back “Let´s go then!”

Chris led the Way and Sophie followed. The Blonde had smiled. But Sophie sensed Chris was not very keen on that Conversation. The Altercations with Jungklausen had cost her, and Sophie admired how Chris handled herself in these circumstances. She had not ripped the Investigators Throat out. Despite the Situation at hand. And at the Thingstätte the Pianist had reacted quickly and decisively. Not hesitating for a Spell.

Sophie had watched in Awe how Chris had shot the two Bolts without leaving her real Target out of her Sight for a second. But that was Chris. They came to a halt before a massive metal Door. The Blonde typed in a Code. The Door clicked open.

Natalie Jungklausen´s Quarters:

When had Natalie come around again? Her head had hurt terribly. She just had dozed off again. As she came around the second time? She felt much better. The Investigator risked opening her Eyes, sat up – and took stock of her Surroundings “It looks like I am in some sort of Hotel Suite.”

The Walls were painted beige. Several Pictures were decorating the Walls: Impressions of Heidelberg. There was a large Television too. A Table with three Chairs. There was a Cupboard and a Door. Which probably led to the Bathroom. No Windows. She was probably Underground.

Natalie got up. She had been relieved of her Shoes. A pair of black Slippers stood next to her Bed. Quite stylish – the Investigator had to admit. It did not matter. Natalie Jungklausen was more the practical Type. No Nonsense. No Fuss. On the Table, she spotted a bottle of Mineral Water and a Glass.

She tapped over, filled the Glass, and gulped it down. Only now she registered she had some Business to do in the Bathroom. The Bathroom too was elegant: White Tiles. A large Shower and Hygiene Articles she might need. To her Surprise, they were from Rituals Cosmetics. In the Wardrobe she found fresh Underwear, a Selection of PJs, Socks, and even running Gear.

All in all, she was surprised: She was treated well. Honestly? She had reckoned with some Payback by von der Marwitz. True, to follow von Treskow´s People to the Thingstätte without Backup had not been the cleverest Idea. But her Curiosity had gotten the better of her. She had left Max a Message, that she would pursue a lead and that they would meet tomorrow at the Office.

Her mind wandered back to the Thingstätte: Von der Marwitz …. That Speed and Precision ….

The Blonde had moved so fast … two quick Flicks of her right Wrist. The Investigator remembered the Moment, the second Bolt had hit her in the Breast. After that? Darkness. She did not even remember hitting the Floor.

What now? Natalie Jungklausen doubted the Blonde would be dumb enough to hold her Hostage. The Woman she had seen today had been so different from the Woman she had interrogated at Robert von Hardenberg´s Office and the Day after at her Office:

The Black Body Armour. The Swords she had slung across her Back. If she knew anything? Chris von der Marwitz was a Woman with many Faces …

A knock at her Door interrupted her Musings: “Why does she bother to knock anyway? She could just enter!” The Door opened and two Women entered: Chris von der Marwitz and Sophie Reichenbach … the latter did not move fluently but looked considerably better than at the Exchange.

The Pianist looked cool and controlled. The Intensity of that emerald-green Eyes was unsettling “You don´t mind if we have a seat?” “Entirely polite that B*tch is and entirely in control” the Investigator fumed “Have a seat!” she pointed to the three Chairs. Natalie took the third one.

“You know that abducting a Police Officer is a Felony, right?” she fired at von der Marwitz. The Blonde exchanged a look with Reichenbach – and nodded subtly “Frau Kriminalhauptkommissarin we did not abduct you – we saved your life” The dark-haired Woman explained calmly “Or what do you think von Treskow´s People would have done with you? I can tell you: Theda von Treskow´s Hospitality leaves much to be desired. Your Accommodations would be without any doubt much less comfortable.”

Sophie paused “If Lisa had not tormented you first and shot you later” The former District Attorney locked the Investigator straight in the Eye.

The Detective stared back, her lips a fine line “Look” the Lawyer continued “We could discuss legal Arguments till the Cows come home. You could make life difficult for Chris; we could make it difficult for you: Cui bono?” Now the Lawyer smiled “ You know the answer.”

Natalie found the Smile irritating – to say the least. But the Lawyer had a point.

Chris took over “Look Frau Jungklausen, we have no intention to hold you captive. Tomorrow you can go. And if you decide to take legal action? You do that.” The Pianist had not spoken loudly, but clearly.

“She sounds sincere” Natalie mused – and decided to hear the Pianist out “Let me tell you a Story” The Blonde continued “If you think then that we are the Culprits in this Game? So be it!” Natalie found the intensity of the Blonde´s Gaze even more irritating …. “But hey? Listening cannot hurt ….”

“This began all almost two Years ago” The Pianist began – her emerald, green Eyes fixed on Natalie - “ Her Voice had a musical Quality “The Heirs of Oskar Weinstein tasked our Agency with tracking down the Weinstein Collection” Now Chris had Natalies full Attention “During this Investigation we came across the Nordstern Trust ….”

Thirty Minutes later:

“And then Robert called me.” The Pianist finished her Narrative. The Rest you know: Robert was killed, Ruth and Sophie were kidnapped and interrogated by von Treskow´s Lackey´s. We devised a Plan to rescue them. End of Story!”

Natalie was – she did not like it – impressed. Von der Marwitz´ Voice had not quivered once, not betrayed her Emotions. Her Self-Control was extraordinary.

The Blonde looked Natalie in the Eye “I think that is a lot to digest” Chris smiled “It´s Dinner Time. Anna gets cranky when we are late, so: If you mind our Company, you have your Dinner here – if you don´t you can join us upstairs! What do you say?”

Natalie had not long to think. She was very hungry – and curious “I will join you!”

Now Chris smiled warmly and exchanged a look with Sophie, who nodded imperceptibly.

“Let´s go then” the Pianist grinned “I hope you like the Italian Cuisine Natalie! Anna can do almost everything in the Kitchen, but when she cooks French or Italian, she outdoes herself always!”

The Investigator was curious. Very curious. This had been a turn of Events she had not anticipated. Truly? She had awaited some corporeal Punishment, that the Pianist harboured Grudges. If she did? She covered them really well.

Natalie followed their Hosts upstairs.

“You are late!” Anna scolded them as they entered the Dining Room “Just One Minute!” Chris grinned lopsided “No need to be cranky!” The blonde grinned “Tell our Guest what´s on the Menu!” Anna gave the Inspector the once over – a mischievous Smile crossed her lips – “Of course Milady!”

Natalie noticed the quick exchange of Looks between the Russian and the German. She was quite good at reading People: Anna Romanova and Chris von der Marwitz were close. She had learned they were close friends since they met in Vienna at the Conservatory.

Those two needed no Words.

The Detective was no Fan of Classical Music, but she had read the Dossier Max had compiled. One Critique had written, “They do understand each other blind, the other knows always what the other will do.”

Anna broke her out of her Reverie “For Starters we have Bruschetta, as Primi “Tagliatelle al Lemon” The Russian smiled “Then my Ossobucco” “And as Finish!” Sophie added smiling “Anna made my Tiramisu alla Nonna!”

As Natalie found out, the Friends of von der Marwitz were easy-going. They were very close – and Jungklausen had to shelf the one or the other Prejudice about the Pianist. What she had perceived as Arrogance was something different in fact:

The Blonde hid her Feelings and Emotions behind a Mask of Stoicism. The Detective suspected that this had something to do with the Upbringing in Japan. From what she had learned? Chris von der Marwitz was deeply rooted in Japanese Culture. She had told her as much.

As she learned? Among her Friends, the Pianist was warm and kind. These Friends were an interesting Mix: Von der Marwitz and Sophie Reichenbach she knew already. The Lawyer looked still tired but remarkably better.

There was a herculean Blonde: Ragna “My Lady-in-Waiting and an amazing Cook!” Chris had introduced the Icelandress “Her Grace Grand Duchesse Anna Alexandrova Romanova, she can make her Stradivarius sing! She is a qualified Sniper – and loves to cook and to eat!” The Russian had waged a Finger at her “Don´t overdo it Christine Auguste Victoria Wilhelmine!” “I just state the Facts!” the Blonde smiled mischievously “Your Grace!”

Next to Anna sat a dark-haired Woman who spoke with a slight Accent, Natalie sensed a deep Devotion to the Russian. Chris smiled warmly “The Honourable Lady Merit is the newest Member of the Family” To Natalie´s Surprise the Egyptian blushed “Merit is Anna´s Lady-in-Waiting – she decided to accept Anna´s Offer to leave her Home behind and became Part of the Family!”

“Lady in Waiting?” Natalie frowned “I know it sounds strange, but Ragna and Merit insist on that Title. You do not believe how often we tried to convince them to refrain from that Habit.” “You did!” Ragna smiled, the Icelandress had a deep, slightly husky Alto Voice “But that Point is not negotiable, isn´t it so Merit?“

Now the Egyptian smiled mischievously “Yes, it is!”

“Good, we cleared that up!” Chris chuckled and pointed to the last Person at the Table, a lithe Brunette, who radiated Warmth and Kindness “Sybill is first and foremost the good Soul of the House and the technical Genius of our Firm. Sybil has a Doctorate from MIT. One of her specialties” Now the Blonde smiled even more broadly “To find all the Information and Data, People do not want to be found!” “You make me blush!” the Brunette smiled that impish little smile, that was her trademark “Don´t tell you are averse to the Attention Sybil!” Her Boss scolded her playfully.

“So, after Introductions made – it's Time for Starters!” the Blonde said, “But before!” she raised her Champaign Flute “I like to bring out a Toast! “Welcome home Sophie and Ruth!” and drained her Glass and the others followed.

During Dinner – which was excellent – Natalie noted that the Ladies did not talk Shop during Dinner, instead the Conversation turned to a lot of other Subjects. There was a lot of playful Banter. Effortless the Conversation flowed from one topic to the next.

Not one Word was lost about the Events of the last Days. The Russian had indeed a healthy Appetite. Natalie herself had engaged in Conversation with Merit “What is your Story?” she had asked the young Egyptian “You can tell her!” Anna smiled. And so, Merit told the Investigator about the Events during the Hunt for the Lost Scrolls. The Russian noticed Merit left certain Things out ….

After Merit had ended her Tale, Natalie was impressed. The Story, the young Egyptian had told her had sounded like a wild Mix of James Bond and The Mummy. And she was sure Anna Romanova´s Lady in Waiting had presented her with an embellished Version of the Story only.

“You have been here in Germany since November?” “Yes,” Merit nodded “You learned the Language that well in that short amount of Time?” The Egyptian blushed slightly “I am good with Languages!”

“She is too modest!” Anna grinned “And she is a hard Teacher! She taught me the Basics of the Egyptian Language!” “Mistress do yourself justice you did that very well!” Merit countered.

Natalie looked from the Russian to the Egyptian. There was a close Bond of Friendship between the two Women, which was based on mutual Respect – not some outdated Form of Hierarchy and Custom. The Investigator was pretty sure, the dark-haired Egyptian was a Submissive and deeply devoted to her Mistress.

Natalie loaded another helping of Ossobuco on her Plate and tucked in. She failed to notice the tall Russian´s amused grin. The Pianist had not exaggerated: The Violinist was a Genius in the Kitchen. The German considered herself a mediocre cook at best – she managed to make decent scrambled Eggs though. But beyond that? Natalie took another Sip of the rich and heavy Red Wine from Spain “From the Priorat” Ragna had offered helpfully in her slightly husky deep Alto Voice.

The Time passed quickly. Anna had just finished her third helping of Tiramisu as Chris stood “Ladies! Today was eventful – and we will all need our Strength, so let us call it a day!” Chris fixated one after the other. I propose Breakfast at 09.30. Any objections?” There were none “It is decided!” the Blonde stated.

Jungklausen had lots of Questions, but she sensed clearly that the Pianist was not in the Mood to answer them before the next Morning. The fabulous Dinner and the interesting Conversations had mollified her though.

Later:

Natalie lay in the Darkness and stared at the Ceiling. The Investigator was tired, but sleep evaded her. Chris von der Marwitz had her surprised her once more. The Pianist had accompanied her to her Room in the Cellars “Good Night!” the Blonde bade her Good Night and turned on her socked Feet.

She was already out of the Door as the Jungklausen called her back “Wait, you don´t lock me in?” Chris turned around and her brilliant green Eyes rested on the Detective, a small smile curled her lips “No” the Blonde´s Smile grew broader “I won´t, why should I?” Natalie´s Surprise showed on her Face “I could escape? Call my Colleagues?” “I trust you enough to do the sensible Thing.” The Pianist shrugged nonchalantly – obviously not concerned in the slightest.

“But you don´t trust me totally, do you?” Natalie´s Voice must have betrayed her disbelief.

“That would be foolish” Chris shrugged “As Things are.” The Blonde still smiled “Listen, Natalie, a good Friend of Mine says I am too trustworthy at Times. There are People I trust with my Life – some of them you got to know this Evening.”

“We, you and I have to work together to find Robert's Murderer,” Natalie noticed the fleeting Shadow crossing the Pianists classical Features, but it was gone as quickly as a bad Dream in the Night “That we Trust each other is imperative”

“You are a Woman with many Faces!” Natalie shook her Head.

Chris smiled again “Sarah says that too! I am what I am! Sleep well!”

She turned on her Heels.

“Good Night Natalie!”

She closed the Door behind her.

Natalie looked long after her, amazed “She has not locked the Door!”

“What a Day!” she murmured sleepily – and who was that, Sarah? It was her last thought – before she fell into a dreamless deep sleep. Just as she closed her Eyes.
