Just caught up with the story! Really loving it. The cowboy RP stuff was a lot of fun, and I'm curious to see how much of Romeo's current enslavement is a continuation (albeit much more real) of the game vs the game was an elaborate way to turn him into a permanent slave. He waited. What else could he do?

At last, footsteps, and then the long, uncomfortable removal of the roll of tape.
Rui was holding up another bottle, one eyebrow cocked.
Romeo made big puppy eyes and begging noises.
"You're trying to beg for food? Let me help you with that."
He released the rope pulling Romeo's limbs up and flipped him over, his forehead now touching the ground with his limbs under him, then presented his own boot.
Romeo ran his lips over their shiny surface, the only thing he could do with his tongue still cruelly depressed and jaw immobile. Words could no longer describe how much he hated this gag.
Finally, Rui took pity, put him back into a sitting position, and tilted the contents of the bottle into his mouth, washing the gruel down with some water.
"I bet those boots are still soggy."
Rui pulled them off of Romeo's feet; the smacking sound confirmed his assessment. He removed the wet socks as well, wringing them out and placing them to the side.
He disappeared briefly, only to return with a fresh pair of socks and dry boots, which he placed on Romeo's feet.
Using the tool, he released Romeo's legs, only to immediately tie them tightly with rope, winding it around the boots horizontally. A second rope went around the insteps; a third was wound around that at a 90 degree angle in the space between the boots, reducing any sideways motion. More rope over and under his knees, compressing the still-damp leather pants, completed that part of his restraints.
Loum arrived with a massive wooden dowel. Working together, they freed Romeo's left arm, only to immediately bind it to the left side of the dowel, knotting it at multiple locations. Repeating the process with the right arm left him in a crucifixion pose, the weight of the wood pulling down. A final intricate loop of rope bound his neck to it.
Rui brandished the muzzle gag. Romeo grunted angrily, which caused Loum to pick up his discarded damp socks and stuff them in his mouth. The taste was horrific, but even if his tongue weren't depressed, the leather contraption quickly dashed any hope of spitting them out.
"One more thing," he grinned. Yet again, his pants were yanked down, and a tight cock ring fitted before being closed up again, the belt being pulled cruelly tightly around his waist.
The two captors each grabbed one end of the dowel and lifted, carrying him outside, his legs dragging on the ground.

He shouted into the gag when he saw what was coming, but the stuffing and cover muted him effectively.
Rui and Loum lowered him into the hole that had been dug there until the dowel, his arms bound to it, rested on the ground to each side.
Then they filled it in.
Rui placed the hat on his head and started to hype the audience up; people could donate for a "mystery torment", and the 10k would see him blindfolded again.
He started to struggle.

He pulled off the blindfold, threw it aside. The gag, of course, was padlocked on so he didn't even bother to try.

Sounded like a semi simple escape until you had Romeo buried in that hole. And that was a little evil with the ring! Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't find that funny . Wonder if he still has a chance with this challenge now.
As for the poll, I have mixed feelings. In one way, I have enjoyed reading Romeo having to endure all of these tricks and challenges. I enjoy him being knocked down a few notches. But somehow he still hasn't broken yet! On the other hand, I personally think it would be wrong to take someone like Romeo and ruin his career without any real reason. That's why I'm half wondering if this was some idea of his manager to boost his numbers amongst his existing and even newer audiences. What better way to make this look real then not to fill Romeo in. If the audience thinks it's fake, it could back fire. This way they think it's all real because it's real to Romeo. If he doesn't escape, his career is over. Romeo also has the added threat/inspiration to beat these challenges or he'll be disappearing to parts unknown to the rest of the world. Gives him real motivation to make this look real!
I'm expecting some other twists and turns so I can't be sure but that's what I'm thinking for now. I just hope if Romeo does succeed, it all doesn't go to his head. Then he may really need a visit to the farm for a bit

Looks like so far, most of the poll agrees with you. I'll leave it up to you whether you think Rui and gang would just do that to a complete stranger for no discernible reason.
When the clock hit zero, Romeo had barely made a dent in the sand, much less managed to extract himself.
"Another loss for our champion!" announced Rui. "He's set some real hard challenges for himself - and as you can see, we're not cheating. This is all real. Tune in tomorrow for the next two!"
The cameras were shut off and Rui cuffed Romeo's hands behind his back before they lifted him out of the hole; it was a concerted effort requiring everyone at hand.
Two of his captors held him up while the others brushed the sand off his pants and boots. They made no move to untie him, dragging him back into his cell as he was.
There, finally, they switched off the vibrating cock ring and removed it.
Rui unlocked his muzzle and discarded the socks that had accompanied him for the past hours, then gave him to eat and drink again before allowing him to use the toilet; for this, he hooked Romeo's cuffs to his collar, his arms wrenched up his back painfully.
They stripped him and, once more, he was soaped up and washed in the stables outside while clad in chains.
"Now," Rui said when he was done, "I'm sure you won't give us any trouble when we get you into your nightgown."
This turned out to be a leather straitjacket. With Warmed's finger on the shock collar button, Romeo thought it wiser to cooperate, and soon enough, he was strapped in.
To his surprise, they put him into yet another set of even tighter underpants and leather jeans, followed by socks and boots, then fastened the straitjacket's crotch ropes onto him.
Each booted ankle was tightly bound to one of the bed posts at the lower end, and the chain was once more locked around his neck.
Wary left, but Rui lingered.
He set next to Romeo on the bed, who had his eyes closed.
"You know you can't win, right."
It wasn't a question but a statement.
"But you think you can, and that's what makes this so much fun. You're going to keep trying, and coming oh so close, and failing. And then you're going to "retire," and I'll personally break you."
His hand found Romeo's crotch and squeezed, forcing a yelp out of the otherwise stoically silent prisoner.
"Look at me."
When there was no reaction, he squeezed again, harder.
Still nothing.
Rui sighed, and clamped his other hand over Romeo's gagged mouth and nose, cutting off his air.
Romeo struggled for a while, trying to open his mouth or shake the hand off, but eventually he realized Rui wouldn't let go until he submitted. He opened his eyes.
"Good. Now keep them open or I'll A Clockwork Orange you."
Romeo had no idea what that meant, but decided he didn't want to find out.
Continuing to squeeze his captive's crotch, but no longer painfully, Rui placed his lips on Romeo's.
His tongue invaded the helpless mouth, running it over Romeo's teeth, touching the tongue depressor. Romeo tried to turn his head away, but Rui moved to hold it tightly with both hands, seamlessly switching to using his knee to now caress his crotch.
Rui grabbed Romeo by the chin, using the other hand to pinch his nostrils shut again. He inhaled, then exhaled into his squirming captive's mouth, forcing him to survive off the second hand air while continuing to stimulate him.
And despite having come repeatedly that day, he came again.
Rui released him, smiling. Without another word, he picked up a ball gag, putting it into his own mouth.
Romeo was confused as Rui turned it over and over between his lips until it was glistening.
Then, quick as a viper strike, he stuffed the ball into the bound cowboy's mouth and strapped it on tightly before blindfolding him.
Romeo was still cursing him when heard the door shut.

The following morning, Rodney and Tino were tasked with feeding and getting the prisoner ready for the first challenge of the day. He sent Tino ahead with the food and roll of duct tape and went to fetch the transport cuffs.
He returned to the sounds of tape audible even from outside the room, feeling a sense of pride about his boyfriend taking action.
He entered the room. "Time to get you r--"
A chain wrapped, whip-like, around his neck, and he was yanked forward. As he fell, he saw Tino on the ground, elbows roped - if anything - even more brutally than Warmed's had been, eyes and mouth tightly taped.
Then Romeo was on him, pressing an arm into his throat from behind and levering it with the other, putting him in a sleeper hold. Before he could as much as get a grip on his attacker, he felt himself pass out.
Hmm, definitely a nice little twist! I was wondering if we'd see our little escape artist, escape again. This time he's done so when no one was watching. Will he succeed or will this be a short lived & failed attempt. Good luck Romeo. I may or may not be rooting for you at the moment
Part of me wants to see Romeo succeed so he can "prove himself" to the rest of this weird little group and be seen as an equal play partner is show up in future stories equally roping and being roped by the rest of this group. I think (if it is 100% legit) being enslaved/trained/broken is too far. Even if it is a ruse, the deflation of losing the challenges might prove too demoralizing.

Romeo had had time to sock- and ballgag his victim and start applying the transport cuffs before he regained consciousness. With brute force, he managed to chain Rodney up completely, locking the ankle cuffs around one of the bed's legs. He used his belt to bind the man's elbows as well; given his build, he did not manage to get them as closely together as Tino's, but it would have to do.
With the man as securely stowed as he felt time would allow, he grabbed the keys off of him and, tightly holding his smaller captive by the hair, yanking it back and forth so he had to constantly keep balance, locked Rodney into the cell.
Tino whimpered as Romeo dragged him along, only to have his captor's hand wrap around his throat along with an angry, hissed command to shut the fuck up.
He had no idea where they were and his elbows were pulsing in pain from the tight ropes. His fingers were tingling; he could barely move his arms. All he could do was stumble blindly along with Romeo.

When he'd entered the room, Romeo had been waiting, and jumped him, carrying him down to the hard floor with him. He'd felt the man's arm around his neck, then nothing for a while, and when he came to, his elbows had been brutally welded together, his mouth was overstuffed with what were probably Romeo's socks, and Romeo was busy encasing his head tightly in tape, leaving just the nose sticking out.

Rodney froze as Rui stepped out from a passage, the shock collar's remote in his hand.
"That's far enough, Romeo."
He brought the squirming Tino in front of him, wrapping an arm around his throat again while moving against a wall to prevent an ambush from behind.
"You're taking this fucking collar off of me and letting me go right now, or he's dead."
Romeo peeled one of the prepared strips of tape from Tino's shirt and slapped it over his nose, cutting off his air.
Rui just stood there as Tino fought for breath, holding direct eye contact with Romeo the entire time.
The mmmphing sounds became shriller and more desperate, Tino trying to break free from Romeo's grasp, his hands moving spasmodically.
Still Rui did not move or speak.
Several more seconds passed, then Romeo sighed and ripped the tape off. Tino's knees buckled as he desperately sucked in fresh air.
Rui finally spoke, a smile on his lips. "Here's what's going to happen now, Romeo."

Romeo groaned into his muzzle through the wad of bandannas as the laces on the leather arm binder were pulled even tighter. They'd stripped off his leather jacket and forced him into the monoglove. His hands stuck out the other side - unusual for this kind of bondage implement - but that had just allowed them to tightly rope his wrists.
His legs had been folded in half and tied to the tight harness they'd woven around his midsection, an intricate crotch rope tormenting his ever-rigid member. Additional ropes connected them just above and below the bent knees.
His booteed ankles were crossed and also roped together, forcing his legs apart. Rodney was currently busy connecting them to the wrist bonds, constantly re-tightening the rope to pull him into an ever tighter hogtie before tying it off and wrapping the end around the connecting part, knotting it where his fingers would never reach.
What the viewers couldn't see were the TENS pads that had been applied to his glutes, thighs, upper back, and pecs. Wires led to a battery pack that could be remote controlled, sending electricity through the pads and forcing his muscles to contract, as they had demonstrated.
Rui did his introductory spiel; Romeo wasn't even listening.
What an interesting standoff between Romeo and Rui. To bad Romeo gave in. He could have let Tino get just enough air and started the process over again and again until maybe finally Rui budged. Curious to know what Rui told him after he let Tino go though. Guess it's back to business with the escape challenges for the audience
Gotta respect Romeo here, even with nothing to lose, he is still a good guy at heart. It seems unlikely, but I am hoping for the best with him in that beautiful arm binder!

Romeo wasted no time before they could turn on the electricity. He grabbed the connecting rope between his wrist and ankle bonds as well as he could and pulled down on it, arching his back while jerking his right leg to the side...
...and slipped right out of the boot.
Rui was yelling into the microphone, ever the "impartial" master of ceremonies, but, again, Romeo didn't listen. Using his free foot, he wrestled the other boot off, the rope going slack.
The TENS pads were going at full strength now, but he barely noticed.
The next part was more difficult, but - like he had with the straitjacket that had aided him in his botched escape - he'd muscled against the monoglove as much as he could without being too obvious.
He thrashed around until he managed to get on both knees, his lower legs folded under him.
Rui's voice again. "Will we reach the stretch goal before he makes it out? It's not looking good, ladies and gentlemen!"
Romeo started moving his arms in an undulating manner, trying to move the arm binder downwards, reaching for it with his fingers as well to help pull.
For a nerve-wracking, endless-seeming amount of minutes, it seemed that he would fail, again.
He bent his wrists back as far as they would go, brought his elbows together hard.
The leather device slipped down.
"We're getting close to the goal! Can you do it, patrons of the arts?"
Methodically, Romeo moved the arm binder further and further down, gaining ever more space to work as it widened. Too bad, he thought, that they hadn't used the kind that you strapped around the chest. Too bad for them, that was.
"Ding ding ding! Stretch goal reached! You know what that means, Romeo!"
Now he was down to just the frogtie. He worked diligently, and it didn't take him long to get his hands free.
He untied the ropes around his legs, jumped up, and ran. His shout of "fuck you and your stretch goal" was lost to the gag.

One camera panned around as it followed Romeo's escape.
"Uh oh! It seems like the escape artist's trying to escape," chuckled Rui. "Well, we can't have that, can we? Fortunately we're prepared for just such an occasion."
The other camera had positioned itself to view the stables, and the streaming video switched over as five riders burst from the doors on horses, lassos swinging through the air.
The cameramen captured them as they followed Romeo, reaching him quickly.
They circled him, then one threw his lasso. Romeo managed to grab it and pulled the man off the horse, but the other four looped theirs around his body. He fought like a berserker, but two of the riders jumped on him from their horses, throwing him off balance.
They spent the next few minutes trussing him up like a turkey, and soon enough, Romeo was tightly restrained again.
Loum and Warmed arrived with a pole, tied his bonds to it, and carried him back to the competition area like a captured animal.
"Beautiful work, Romeo," enthused Rui. "Always giving the public what they want!"
"Well, dear viewers, that's it for this morning. Four challenges down, two successful escapes. See you this afternoon for round five!"

Romeo was put back in the transport cuffs, but this time with an additional twist: the hand mitts were back, but they'd been internally reinforced with a plastic structure that captured his fingers, complately immobilizing them.
Wordlessly, they shoved him back into the leather sleep sack, strapped it as tightly as it would go.
The muzzle came off and he was fed before a wide strip of tegaderm tape silenced him again.
Loum and Rui lifted the mattress off his bed, revealing a cage in a hole in the ground underneath. They dumped him inside and put the lid on; massive deadbolts, locked with padlocks, held it in place. The mattress was replaced, trapping him in darkness.

He did not know how much time had passed when light woke him. Loum and Warmed opened the cage and retrieved him to get him ready for the next challenge. He yanked the tape off his lips and stuffed it with the sodden bandannas from the morning's challenge, then tightly strapped the muzzle onto him once more.
He was sheening with sweat from having been stuffed in the bag in full clothing, and was dismayed when they did not release him from it, but blindfolded him, picked him up and carried him outside.

He baked in the sun as he heard prep work going on all around him. Finally, he was released from the bag, only for multiple sets of hands to grab him and flip him onto his stomach.

His legs were folded and bound together again, in more places this time.
He felt something happening to the rope harness, but wasn't sure what. Whatever it was, it took quite some time.
The mitts came off his hands. He braced for more bonds, but none came.
Instead, he was abruptly lifted into the air, the web of ropes drawing even more tightly around him. His arms were pulled up and away from his body; one of his legs was now under him while the other was bent towards his back, putting him in a very uncomfortable position. His shoulders hurt from the unnatural elevation of the arms.
Look at Romeo go, he escaped again! Even if yet again, it was short lived

It did not take Romeo long to conclude that there was no way he would be getting out of these bonds. Had they toyed with him for the previous one, or genuinely underestimated him?
Nevertheless, he fought and struggled and screamed and grunted.
He felt a rope being loosened, another added, and suddenly he tilted, now hanging head down.
Over the next hours, his tormentors kept playing with the ropes that kept him afloat. He lost count of how many different stress positions they put him in, adding and removing ropes as they wished to (literally) bend him to their will.
He tried to take some control - any control - as he was being moved from position to position, but they were really showing him just how powerless he was.
As an added insult, his hands were free throughout - but no amount of struggling allowed him to dislodge any of the ropes even the smallest bit.

He was completely spent when the timer ran out, and they pulled him into one final position, binding each wrist tightly to the ankle on the same side before lowering him back onto the platform.
He kept struggling weakly as Rui feigned concern over the remaining two challenges, thanked the donors, and promised more for the following day.
They carried him back to his cell, still blindfolded, and shoved him back into the sleep sack. Someone - probably Rui - fed and watered him before he was gagged again - this time with some cloth that had been knotted so many times that a huge wad of it filled his mouth and stretched his lips as it was tied tightly.

He awoke to Rui's laughter.
"There is no making you give up, is there?" he asked, amused. "Really, I'm impressed."

"Normally I'd make you face your challenge without food, water or a toilet for that, but I'm in a good mood today. Two more certain failures, and then you're mine forever. But one more word out of you and my mood will definitely sour."
Romeo got the hint and allowed himself to be fed.
Rui stuffed his mouth with a sponge, then added the muzzle and allowed him to use the toilet. He obediently stripped, then on went the transport cuffs and mitts.
Once again he was led to the showers and cleaned, then returned to - finally - a brand-new set of clothes.
Rui instructed him to leave off anything above the waist, so he got halfway dressed, and was chained back up.
Rui stepped behind him and crossed his ankles over his prey's from behind, immobilizing him against his own body. One hand grabbed his throat, fingers on his carotid arteries. The other opened his pants and pulled out his erection.

Rui pulled his arms up over his head, made him fold them, and tied his wrist bonds to the harness at the back of his neck, his elbows now sticking straight up. More rope above and below them immobilized his arms same as his legs.
Rui was still not done, however. His wrists and ankles were connected by yet another rope that was pulled taut. He could now barely move, and still, he was trying to get erect in the chastity cage.
Rui wound a bandana tightly around his neck, then put the stetson on his head.
He patted his captive's cheek patronizingly, eliciting an angry grunt.
