My story

Basically, when I was in 5th grade, occasionally after school, I would be babysat by the mother of a cute girl classmate of mine. This continued into 6th grade.

Now, there was this pole in their backyard with clothesline hanging from it. Usually, the pole was actually used to hold clothes on it (hence the clothesline), but it wasn't used year-round. When it wasn't, I discovered a new use for it. After all, clothesline is a form of rope, or at least it looks similar enough to it.

I asked the girl if I could tie her up to the pole, and basically did get to tie her to it, hands behind the pole most of the time, sometimes in front instead. I also got her younger (by 2 years) sister into the act as well. Of course, they wanted their turn on me. I learned very quickly that I sucked at tying people up. Neither of us resorted to ropes so tight they were painful, but they could escape my ropes better than I could theirs, for the most part.

We tried the usual hands behind back style, and I may have crossed wrists on occasion, but usually not. Occasionally, one of us would tie the other to the pole with hands in front. Once, I tried to wrap the clothesline around one of the girls to pin her arms to her sides, but there wasn't enough for that. Unfortunately, both girls got free very easily, while I had a much harder time getting out of their ropes.

And it basically happened like that. One time I did use so many convoluted knots that the girl made a comment about them as she had a hard time getting them all undone, but that wasn't because she herself was necessarily stuck in them, but because they were THERE. It was cute imagery nonetheless.

I also took a much milder form of the tie-up games to the house's basement. There, we used hair scrunches and anything else that was either rope-like or elastic, and used that to more-or-less tie each other up, and would play "tie up hide-and-seek" (didn't last long), or other things.

One time that sticks out is the time I roleplayed at being a kidnapper, with the two girls as hostages. They were "tied" up, aesthetically more than anything else, with the aforementioned scrunchies. They got very into it too. They would pretend to cry and be upset at being held captive. Unfortunately, I was called upstairs by their mother, who told me that my "captive" game might scare the younger kids she was babysitting, and to go and "play nice things". I told her I would, but when I came downstairs, I just went right back into the "kidnapper" role and continued on as before!

Those were some fun times, even if I couldn't tie knots well, and didn't even tie anyone up for real most of the time.

Fun at the pool

Yesterday at the pool, I was able to finally tie up (to some extent at least) a good female friend of mine. Basically what happened is that with the summer being nearly over, we were mostly just relaxing in the lifeguard shed as usual. We were teasing each other with questions about who liked who from school, work, etc, and somehow my friend R (name withheld, sorry) brought up that I was into "tying up" as well.

Many of the others were surprised. I explained "well, in a playful manner" to minimize any sort of "freaked out" reaction I'd get. R said something like "show me", and having remembered that there was, for reasons unknown, a cord in the drawer, I got up and got it out. She put her hands behind her back, I took her wrists and crossed them, and tied the cord around them both vertically and horizontally, making sure to tie knots here and there ("don't double knot it or anything" she said, but it was too late!). After I was done, she got up and dared me to chase her. Now, R's very athletic, so I thought I didn't stand a chance. But as it turned out, after I ran out of the shed, she ran back in through the other entrance and was blocked by a chair. I caught her right away.

I asked why she didn't just run across the pool, and she said "I'd look stupid. People would think I'm weird, running around tied up!" She had the others untie her. I really wish I'd had my digital camera on-hand then, but it would have probably added an element of awkwardness to the whole thing and taken away from the playful mood. Too bad the pool closes in less than a week.

Hope you all liked the story.
